About Alpha RX

Alpha RX is a male enhancement supplement that claims to use all-natural ingredients in order to provide a slew of sexual benefits. In particular, the product claims to enhance sex drive and libido, help achieve bigger and harder erections, improve sexual staying power, and even increase penis length and girth.

The manufacturer of Alpha RX claims that it’s not just a “miracle pill,” instead calling it a complete male enhancement system. They state that the product can increase blood flow to the penis, while also increasing the overall concentration of testosterone in the body.

Finally, the company claims that Alpha RX is doctor recommended, stating that the ingredients in use in the product’s formula have been proven to support sexual health and energy.

We’ll take a closer look at these ingredients shortly, but first, let’s briefly explore how the penis works, and how it can be affected by erectile dysfunction.

Erectile Dysfunction: A Scientific Overview

In order to understand how a supplement like Alpha RX might affect you, we first need to take a closer look at how erections work. When aroused, the brain sends signals to the penis, prompting it to fill chambers in the shaft with blood. These chambers, called corpora cavernosa, are the same ones that Alpha RX claims to increase blood flow to in order to achieve bigger, long lasting erections.

However, the issue can be complicated whenever an individual experiences erectile dysfunction, or the inability to get and sustain an erection suitable for sexual activity. There are many reasons why men experience ED, including the following:

  • Heart disease
  • Clogged blood vessels (atherosclerosis)
  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Certain prescription medications
  • Tobacco use
  • Alcoholism and other forms of substance abuse
  • Sleep disorders
  • Surgeries that affect the pelvic area

In addition to these physical issues, the Mayo Clinic reports that mental issues like depression, anxiety, and stress may also be to blame for your sexual problems. Often, these can have compounding effects, leading to performance anxiety that makes ED symptoms worse over time.

Finally, low testosterone levels have also been associated with male sexual dysfunction. Testosterone is the main male sex hormone, and WebMD illustrates that men with low T levels might experience erectile dysfunction, though as we've learned above, it is not the only cause (or even the main one).

According to the article above, testosterone is indeed linked to erection health as the makers of Alpha RX suggest, but the relationship is very complex and not fully understood by current science. For instance, it’s reported that some men experience healthy erections despite having T levels well below the norm.

So, what can be done if you are experiencing these issues? For many individuals, prescription ED medications are the first course of action. The following options are currently available in the US:

  • Sildenafil (Viagra)
  • Tadalafil (Adcirca, Cialis)
  • Vardenafil (Levitra, Staxyn)
  • Avanafil (Stendra)

In cases where these are not effective, other methods include using penis pumps, and even surgical procedures and various implants whenever all other options have failed. However, where do supplemental products like Alpha RX factor in?

According to the FDA, many dietary supplements in recent years have been found to contain hidden or undisclosed drug ingredients, some of which might be capable of posing a threat to your health. No specific ingredients are named, but they go on to state that you should be wary of any products that:

  • “Promise quick results (within 30 to 40 minutes)
  • Are advertised as alternatives to FDA-approved prescription drugs
  • Are sold in single servings
  • Advertise via spam or unsolicited emails
  • Have labels written primarily in a foreign language
  • Have directions and warnings that mimic FDA-approved products”

Looking at Alpha RX’s website, the supplement is advertised as an alternative to prescription medications like Viagra, so in the next section, we’ll need to take a closer look at the ingredients used in the formulation in order to evaluate how effective they might be overall.

What’s Inside Alpha RX’s Formula?

Looking at Alpha RX’s website, it’s listed that the product contains a 1,484mg proprietary blend including the following ingredients: horny goat weed extract, tongkat ali extract, saw palmetto extract, wild yam extract, nettle extract, sarsaparilla, orchic substance, and boron.

Based on information reported from sources such as WebMD, Healthline.com, and Examine.com, a few of these ingredients can provide sexual health benefits, such as:

  • Boron, which may be able to increase free testosterone levels in the body. 10 mg per day was cited on one clinical study, but no optimal dosage amount was reported.
  • Tongkat ali extract, which may be able to improve sperm count and quality in infertile men, though no optimal dosage information was provided.

Other than these, none of the other ingredients included in the formula were reported to be able to influence sexual function, penis size, or staying power. In addition, no individual concentration amounts were listed for any of the ingredients, and when we reached out to customer support to attempt to clarify, we were told by multiple agents that they did not have this information on hand.

Potential Alpha RX Side Effects

When taking any supplement, there is always the risk for side effects to occur. Seeing as we don’t have dosage information from customer support, we logically can’t evaluate how likely you are to experience any of these effects, but the following have been reported by WebMD, Drugs.com and Examine.com:

  • Boron, when taken by mouth in doses greater than 20 mg daily may be harmful to male fertility.
  • Horny goat weed might cause dizziness, vomiting, dry mouth, thirst, and nosebleed, as well as spasms and severe breathing problems, though no dosage amounts are reported.
  • Saw Palmetto might cause dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea, though again, no dosage information was reported.

There is also always the potential for unforeseen side effects to crop up as a result of interactions with other medications, so we’d recommend visiting with your doctor before taking any supplement like Alpha RX for the first time.

Alpha RX Pricing & Return Policy

Alpha RX is currently available exclusively on the product’s main website as part of a free trial pricing structure. This means that upon checkout, all you’ll be required to pay for is the shipping & handling charges, allowing you to receive a 30-day supply of Alpha RX for just $4.95.

However, this also signifies the beginning of your 15-day trial. Once this period is over, you’ll be automatically charged the full purchase price of $93.78 and entered into the company’s autoship program. This means that you’ll continue to be billed for monthly supplies of the supplement until you call customer support at 800-962-3805 to cancel. You can also do this before your trial is over in order to prevent the initial $93.78 charge from going through.

As for the return policy, the terms lay out that you have 30 days to request a refund, though this can only be done if the bottle is unopened. They explicitly list that partially used or opened products cannot be returned or refunded. To obtain an RMA number for your return, you’ll need to call the number listed above.

Can You Actually Increase Your Penis Size?

One of the central claims made by the manufacturer is that Alpha RX can actually increase penis length and girth, but is this promise backed by scientific evidence? According to WebMD, most likely not.

As it turns out, there are only a few real ways to actually increase the physical size of the penis, and the vast majority of these carry with them moderate to severe side effects. These include penile surgeries, penis pumps, and stretching techniques.

In the article linked above, WebMD reports that these may only lead to about a half an inch of size increase, but also may increase your chances for developing erectile dysfunction and other penile issues such as nerve damage and decreased sensitivity.

As for supplements like Alpha RX? Both the Mayo Clinic and WebMD agree; they won’t lead to a permanently larger sexual organ.

The Verdict: Buying a Male Enhancement Supplement Like Alpha RX

Looking at the product from a top-down perspective, Alpha RX makes a multitude of claims about its effectiveness in treating erectile dysfunction symptoms, but do these claims hold up to scrutiny?

As we laid out above, only two of the ingredients used in the product’s formula were reported by authoritative sources like Examine.com and WebMD to carry with them any sort of sexual benefits, and even then, they were limited to increasing testosterone and sperm count.

This is only one part of the benefits described by the makers of the male enhancement supplement, and despite these claims, none of the sources listed above reported sufficient evidence that any of the ingredients could affect staying power, penis length and girth, or erection strength.

Couple this information with the FDA’s warning about these types of supplements, as well as the potentially costly autoship program employed by Alpha RX (not to mention the inability to return the product after it’s been opened), and we feel that a more effective first step might be to talk with your doctor directly about the issues you are currently facing.

In many cases, your local physician may be familiar with many of the more popular supplements and medications on the market currently, and in general, no one is more qualified to give you actionable advice tailored to your unique situation.

If you don't read the fine print, it will cost you.

Stupidly ordered for $4.95 shipping and handling not seeing any fine print anywhere where I was entering a subscription for this product, which failed to have any physiologic effect as touted. Saw the bill from Visa and the credit card company would credit me. By the time I figured out I had to contact them to cancel this subscription, a second charge came through on the same day and never got the second bottle. So the company is a scam and I wish I had read warnings from others. The credit card company is partly to blame since they accept the charge and the company has a no refund policy. I thought that was the purpose of credit cards, to back the consumer on purchases.

This company is a scam. They charged me for this product that I never received and only refunded me $60. Then I call to complain and I'm told I agreed to this, when all their people do is lie to you and tell me I agreed to this. I hope this company is proud of itself, they're a scam.

I ordered the free sample and after they got my credt card number, I was forced to click on two other items to get to check out. They added to the card without approval. I immediately sent an email but the email failed. I canceled my credit card and had a new one issued. I suggest everyone do the same to keep from getting more charges. This is a scam.

Unknown charges on the cancel of the free trial pills

    • By John C.,

I called to cancel my free trial product. On the phone the customer service person, Sonia, to cancel, she tried everything to make me not cancel this product. After she failed, then she states that I would be charged a $9.95 processing fee and had to return the remaining pills. I thought this was a FREE trial period. She then states that Alpha RX sent an email stating the return policy, which I never received. As I stated, the return policy or the trial period requirements are not stated anywhere on the promotion material. I told her that I would argue any other charge by Alpha RX and at that point will file a claim with the BBB and the Texas Attorney General. I will list this product as a scam.

I ordered a "free" sample for $4.95 shipping charges but was charged without authorization another $199 for a three-month supply, for which I did not authorize. I have been texting and calling the support section to cancel within the "trial period with negative results," and yet I received notice from my credit charge company of this fraudulent charge.

This is a scam. They bill you even though you did not authorize this charge. Also, the company stated that if you notify them by phone before the "trial period" ends, no additional charges will be billed, for which I did three times, but they will bill you anyway.

    What a scam!
