What is Appatonin-CR?
Using something the manufacturer calls a caloric-restricting compound, Appatonin-CR is a nutritional supplement that promises to work on the satiety (appetite) center of the brain and help you feel fuller, longer.
This way, they claim you’ll be able to stick to your weight goals while still enjoying your favorite foods, without feeling sluggish, aggravated, and hungry all the time.
Just what is the caloric-restricting compound featured in Appatonin-CR? Does it really represent the “easiest way to lose weight”? Are there any potential side effects? Is it worth the price?

How Does Your Body Lose Weight?
We won’t go into unnecessary detail here, but the Appatonin-CR website is perfectly accurate when claiming that, in order to lose weight, you need to reduce your caloric intake. This causes your body to expend more calories per day than it ingests, leading to what’s known as a calorie deficit.
And the two methods of accomplishing this are through exercise (burning calories already in your body) and nutrition (carefully choosing foods to eat based on their calorie content). In fact, diet and exercise are the only proven methods of reliably losing weight and keeping it off for the long term.
Now, the problem is that when your body suddenly has to get through the day with fewer calories, you become hungry.
You see, when our body has burned up all the food in our stomach, the hormone ghrelin is released, which then signals the hypothalamus to release neuropeptide Y. This neuropeptide stimulates our appetite and causes hunger.
Pro tip: Did you know that hunger pangs are simply our stomach contracting when it’s empty?
Obviously, if we’re constantly hungry, this can result in a lack of energy, mood swings, and a general desire to stuff our face—none of which are conducive to meaningful, long-term weight loss.
Perhaps this is why the Appatonin-CR website tells us that 95% of people who begin diets ultimately fail, although this number doesn’t seem to relate to any specific study.
But how can Appatonin-CR’s ingredients help curb your hunger and increase your chances of weight loss success?
What Ingredients Are Found In Appatonin-CR and Do They Help Reduce Appetite?
The short answer? We’re not told. There isn’t a list of ingredients or product label posted anywhere on the Appatonin-CR website.
To help learn more, we spoke to three different representatives at the company’s customer service line, the last one of which was able to provide a list of ingredients:
- Vitamin B6
- Magnesium Oxide
- Ilex Paraguariensis Leaf Extract (more commonly known as Yerba Mate)
- Paullinia Cupana Seed Extract (Guarana)
- Turnera Diffusa Leaf Extract (Damiana)
- Theobroma Cacao Seed Extract
- Zingiber Officinale Root Powder (Ginger)
- Cola Nitida Seed Extract (Cola Nut)
- Rhodiola Crenulata Root Extract
- Ziziphus Jujuba Fruit Extract
- Fishfinder Chinensis Fruit Powder
- Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract
According to authoritative websites like WebMD and Examine.com, there is insufficient clinical evidence that any of these ingredients can have a meaningful impact on human appetite or any other aspect of weight loss, or that they address any hunger-related hormones like CCK, leptin, ghrelin, and insulin.
Now, this isn’t to say that they won’t provide any benefits—just none proposed by Appatonin-CR’s manufacturer. For example, magnesium may help ease indigestion and Ziziphus Jujuba may help relieve constipation.
Further, as we outline in Can Cacao Replace Your Morning Coffee?, this ingredient can help you remain alert and boost your mood.
But what about all that scientific talk on the Appatonin website?
Is Appatonin-CR Clinically Proven?
Clinical evidence from authoritative websites aside, the manufacturer tells us that Appatonin-CR and its ingredients have been subjected to two different studies.
The first involved giving a group of women unrestricted access to an “open-style” buffet, where each participant could eat as much as they desired. At the end of the meal, we’re told those given Appatonin-CR reduced their caloric intake compared to those given a placebo.
Clearly, this is a highly unscientific study, so we’re not sure how well this supports the manufacturer’s claims.
Second, we’re told that the supplement’s active compound was shown to help 93% of participants lose a “significant amount of weight.” What’s more, following up a year later, none of the participants had regained a single pound.
While the company claims this study was published in a peer-reviewed journal, they didn’t provide any citations to support it. We also weren’t able to find any matching studies on the National Institutes of Health PubMed website.
Does Contain any Appatonin-CR Side Effects?
While the supplement’s professional commercial and packaging might lead you to believe that Appatonin-CR is a prescription medication, it’s not. Instead, it’s considered a nutritional supplement, which is a product class that’s subject to little-to-no governmental oversight before being released to the public.
However, most legitimate supplements only contain Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) ingredients, so the good news is that the most common side effect associated with Appatonin-CR’s ingredients is mild, temporary digestive upset.
Keep in mind, however, that yerba mate and cocoa contain caffeine (generally less than a cup of coffee), which could lead to nervousness, jitteriness, and insomnia if you’re especially sensitive.
Finally, WebMD notes that rhodiola is possibly safe when taken by mouth for up to six to ten weeks, although the long-term safety is unknown.
How much will you pay for the ingredients that make up Appatonin-CR’s compound?
How Much Does Appatonin-CR Cost?
One box (120 capsules) of Appatonin-CR is priced at a whopping $135, making it one of the most expensive weight loss supplements we’ve reviewed to date.
You can reduce this price by 20 percent on all future orders by signing up for regular shipments. Here, you'll be charged $108 plus free shipping every 30 days until you call to cancel.
All Appatonin-CR orders come with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H, which begins on the date your order is received. In order to request one, or to change or cancel your autoship enrollment, customer support can be reached at 800-485-1266.
Note: This number only appears to service return requests. If you have additional questions, we experienced more success by calling 800-898-5153.
Are Appatonin-CR’s customers finding this price delivers sufficient value?
Are There Other Products Like Appatonin-CR?
Although Appatonin-CR’s trademark was originally filed in 2014, it seems to have been only recently released.
However, the manufacturer, Covaxil Laboratories, appears to manufacture several other popular supplements, including TriAdalean Thermogenic Fat Burner, Estrin-D Menopause supplement, Trivestin Glucosamine Joint Formula, and NuraDyne.
TriAdalean had a 3.2-star average Amazon rating at the time of our research, with most compliments claiming that the supplement did what it promised. Like any other nutritional supplement, the most common complaint was no results.
Estrin-D and Trivestin seemed to come with similar ratings and feedback.
Customer reviews aside, if you search online for “appetite supplement,” you’ll find hundreds of options similar to Appatonin-CR—many of which prominently list their ingredients so you can make an informed decision, without having to take the extra step of reaching out to customer service.
How does Appatonin-CR compare? The reality is that each of these supplements generally features some kind of “unique” formulation, which can span hundreds of different ingredients—some of which could have more evidence than others that they can effectively suppress appetite.
While some of the supplement’s ingredients contain natural caffeine, the good news is that unlike a lot of the competition, Appatonin-CR doesn’t appear to contain (remember, we’re not told about dosing) high levels of stimulants.
On the other hand, you’ll generally find that appetite suppression and weight loss supplements fall somewhere between $40 and $60. So, at 2-3X this price, Appatonin-CR is meaningfully more expensive.
Let’s carry this thought over to the final section.
Is Appatonin-CR Your Key to Meaningful, Sustained Weight Loss?
When it comes down to it, Appatonin-CR is manufactured by a company who makes several other popular supplements, and who seems to stand behind their product with a 30-day refund policy. Just keep in mind that you’ll have to spend a few bucks to send it back to Covaxil if you’re dissatisfied.
Whenever you’re thinking about trying a new supplement, though, the first person you should speak with is your doctor. At the same time, you might want to discuss prescription hunger-controlling options like Qsymia, Belviq, and Contrave, although these certainly have their own lists of pros and cons.
But at nearly $135, some of these prescription options will come with significantly more clinical evidence to substantiate their claims. And if you have health insurance, you could pay a lot less than you will for a box of Appatonin-CR.
Bottom line: Due to the fact that authoritative websites report little-to-no clinical evidence to support the manufacturer’s claims for their ingredients, along with Appatonin-CR’s ultra-steep price, we think it’s important to carefully weigh your decision with your doctor before making a purchase.
After all, we want to see you get the most value for your hard-earned money.
