About Be Aligned
While you sleep, Be Aligned is an ultra-soft knee support pillow that’s clinically proven to align your spine and relieve back pain. All you have to do is slip Be Aligned on and position it between your knees.
From there, Be Aligned’s plush built-in cushion will elevate your leg at the right angle, relieving pressure on your lower back, legs, and hips, while alleviating soreness and discomfort.
And because Be Aligned is ultra-lightweight and breathable, it will remain in place all throughout the night and stay cool and comfortable.
Can the Be Aligned support pillow really relieve your back pain? Possibly. But is it the right product for you? Let’s discuss.
Will Be Aligned Relieve Your Back Pain?
If you’re suffering from back pain, sleeping on your side with a pillow between your knees is generally considered one of the best positions for finding relief, and is likely where Be Aligned manufacturer bases many of their claims (more about this shortly).
But back pain is a symptom, not a cause. Sure, your body is telling you that something’s wrong, but not precisely what is wrong. This is something we discussed in-depth in Winning the Battle Against Chronic Back Pain.
Think about it this way: If you have a hip injury, you might experience some lower back pain. Or, if you have a slipped disc in your lower back, you’ll probably experience much of the same. Sciatica? Same here as well.
Each of these causes will often require completely different treatments, which means that knee cushions like Be Aligned might work well in some cases, and not at all in others. And since addressing the root cause of your back pain is the only way to relieve it, we’d recommend speaking with your physician for effective recommendations based on your diagnosis.
Speaking of effectiveness: is Be Aligned really clinically proven?
Be Aligned’s Clinical Trial
Be Aligned’s manufacturer claims that the knee cushion was clinically proven to provide a 64% improvement in pain and function levels in a “groundbreaking trial.”
The catch? The company provides zero evidence to back this up, which is interesting, considering how much credibility this would provide. In our opinion, this means these stats are overblown, or at worst, complete mistruths.
Note: In all fairness though, we weren’t able to locate any clinical trials online related to knee cushions or knee pillows, not just Be Aligned.
How can companies make claims like this? It’s complicated, but you can get yourself up to speed by reading Think That Clinical Study is Legit?
What about these other options? Will they work any better than Be Aligned?
Knee Cushions Are a Dime a Dozen
No, Be Aligned won’t cost you a dime (more next), but there are dozens of similar options all over the marketplace. To see for yourself, type the phrase “knee support pillow” or “knee cushion” into the search engine of your choice.
Because all of these options are from different manufacturers, they won’t be designed exactly the same, but they’ll perform the same basic function—to slightly elevate one knee and align the spine.
What might be even more attractive is that many of the options are priced lower than Be Aligned, especially considering the high, non-refundable S&H charges, which we’ll talk about next.
How Much Does Be Aligned Cost? Can It Be Returned?
Two Be Aligned knee cushions are priced at $19.99 plus $15.90 S&H.
Important note: During checkout, you’ll also be able to purchase a premium Be Aligned cushion, which features more breathable and durable fabric, for an additional $10. However, no additional information was provided about this “premium” version.
Be Aligned comes with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. If you think about it, by the time everything’s said and done, this means you’d probably lose more in S&H charges than you’d get back as a refund!
Regardless, if you’d like to request a refund, you’ll need to contact Plymouth Direct’s customer service at 800-340-3418.
Will Be Aligned Help You Sleep Better?
As we mentioned at the beginning, it’s certainly possible that the Be Aligned knee support pillow could help relieve your back pain. However, this is most likely only if your back pain is caused by spinal misalignment.
Even if this is the case, finding the right pillow (or cushion, in this instance) is a very individualized process and involves a lot of personal preference. Even for people with identical back problems, this means what works for one individual may not work at all for another.
To compound the problem even more, back pain and sleep are often two separate processes. So, just because you address your back pain, this doesn’t mean that you’ll necessarily sleep any better (here’s 9 simple ways to improve your sleep).
Finally, if you know that Be Aligned can help your back pain and improve your sleep, the knee cushion seems to be available in just one size. And like any other one-size-fits-all product, if you have especially thick or thin legs/knees, Be Aligned might not provide a comfortable fit.
And if you’re not satisfied, remember that you could lose just as much (or more) in non-refundable S&H charges!
