As such, the company claims to source these products from numerous third-party companies that specialize in everything from basic drugstore brands to luxury vegan.

After you subscribe to Beauty Box 5, they’ll send you a monthly box containing 4-5 samples and full-sized products. If you try out a product and want to purchase more, you can visit the Beauty Box 5 online shop to place your order.

Beauty Box 5 Pricing & Refund Policy

When joining Beauty Box 5, you’ll be presented with three different membership options:

  1. Monthly: $12
  2. Quarterly: $30 ($10 per month)
  3. Yearly: $99 ($8.25 per month)

Regardless of which membership option you choose, Beauty Box 5 claims that all boxes include the same items, and that the only difference between the plans is how much you’ll save. Keep in mind that if you sign up after the first of the month, you’ll be set to receive the following month’s box. Also, remember that your subscription will automatically renew upon expiration, so you’ll need to manually cancel it if you no longer wish to receive beauty boxes.

According to Beauty Box 5, all their boxes come with free shipping, and based on several customer reviews we read, it appears that most boxes contain $20-$30 worth of products.

What Do Other Consumers Have to Say About Beauty Box 5?

Beauty Box 5 is based out of Austin, TX, and despite the length of time they’ve been in business, they are not listed with the Better Business Bureau.

However, outside of the BBB there are numerous online customer reviews available, which appear to be equally mixed. Some of the most common complaints we encountered during our research cited hit-or-miss product selection, poor packaging/little attention to detail, and receiving very similar (or even identical) products within a close period of time. Also, another big complaint is that while Beauty Box 5 does have a “review for points system,” they do not have a rewards program. This means that instead of receiving a discount through the manufacturer for having already tried the product, you’ll have to pay full price directly through BB5.

What’s the Bottom Line About Beauty Box 5?

With all this information in mind, what’s the bottom line: is Beauty Box 5 worth your hard-earned money?

While Beauty Box 5 is definitely priced at the lower end of beauty box services, the biggest downfall is that your boxes cannot be customized in any way. Unlike other companies such as BirchBox, this means that everyone receives the same products each month, regardless of skin type/tone, allergies, or personal preference. And these two services are priced almost the same to boot.

Also, keep in mind that the most common customer complaints we encountered during our research cited hit-or-miss product selection, poor packaging/little attention to detail, and receiving very similar (or even identical) products within a close period of time. As such, it may be the case that you might get more value for your money by going through another company. However, you can cancel your Beauty Box 5 membership at any time, so it may be worth your while to give it a try.

    Outright theft

    I have been a subscriber for a year. Boxes were frequently late, and many products were cheap and poor quality. Then after the July box, they stopped arriving at all. I paid a year in advance and they now owe me four boxes. They refuse to respond to inquiries, and I have no way to contact them. I would love to sign on to a class action complaint.

    Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Boxes just stopped coming

    Hello.

    I have no delivery of boxes since June of 2017. I paid for one year in March of 2017 and only received 3 boxes. I have sent 4 emails to Beauty Box over 2 months and have only received an automated reply saying they will respond eventually. There is no other way to contact them, so it seems I am out of luck.

    Do NOT subscribe.

    Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Stay away

    I subscribed to this service about a year ago. Up to recently, my wife loved it. However, the last box we received was in May. It is now September as of writing this. I was charged again for the next three months in August. She is yet to receive anything. We both have sent several emails, and we have yet to get any kind of response. Beauty Box 5 doesn't have any kind of phone number to reach them at. At this point, I have no choice but to file a fraudulent charge against them in hopes of getting any money back.

    Stay away!

    Beauty Box 5 is no good

    I was a Beauty Box 5 subscriber since 2015, and I never had any issues whatsoever! They were one of my favorites in the $10-12 price range. Then July 2017, they had a shipping issue with one of their products and informed their customers that shipping for July was delayed. The boxes ended up coming mid-August and had a bonus item to make up for being late, so I was willing to overlook the issue. Of course, even though July boxes hadn't shipped yet, they still charged for August on the first like clockwork! They say absolutely nothing about August boxes being delayed and all of a sudden the end of August they make a post on Facebook (not directly to their customers) that their shipping warehouse is located in Texas and was hit by Harvey the hurricane and would keep us posted!

    I got a bad feeling and canceled right away without any issues thank goodness! I still haven't received my August box and according to Facebook and Instagram, a lot of people have purchased yearly subscription upfront and really want to know what's going on! They have a sister company that's having the same issues! The BBB has scored them as an F! I would highly suggest nobody signs up for this subscription box.

    Terrible

    I subscribe to about 15-20 boxes. This is my least favorite. The products were in terrible condition. I could see removed price stickers. One product had old nail polish on it. This stuff looks like someone dug it out of an old purse.

    Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Worst experience ever!

    I signed up using a code for a free box. I figured it was only $12.00 and worth a try. First box arrived after a couple weeks with very low quality products. Two weeks later I still hadn't received the free box so I posted on their Facebook page and was informed it would ship soon. It finally arrived and had even lower quality products. I decided I wanted to cancel. Tried to sign into my account, my email address wasn't recognized as having an account, yet I receive emails weekly from them. Tried to call customer service several times, nothing but voicemail. Tried to email once, no response. In December they charged my card and never sent a box. Again website won't allow me to sign in, no response to calls or emails. I posted on the Facebook page and got a response with the customer service number. Called five times and left messages. Never did they return one call.

    Now January again charge my card and immediately I post on their Facebook page threatening to contact the BBB, which I did. Finally after a few days get a response telling me to contact Hannah through email. I demanded a refund and to have my card number removed from the system. She sent me back an email stating I had not properly canceled my account, you have to contact customer service over the phone or through email, which I tried to do several times with no response. If you look at all the post on their Facebook page you discover that there are several people who have issue with them. Their products or of poor quality and their customer service is seriously lacking and rude when you do get a response. This company is cheating people in my opinion.

    Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
