BetterHelp has been so helpful! I wouldn't recommend anything else to anyone else. It has so many things going for it:

1) Affordable. BetterHelp is only around $55 a week at the highest. If you are experiencing financial difficulty, they will cut that rate in HALF. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is more affordable than therapy through BetterHelp.

2) Personal. You can view your therapist's profile, choose one that you think will work with you, or let them assign you. If it doesn't work out, you can switch, quite easily.

3) Time. There is nothing easier than being able to have a phone or video conference with your therapist once a week. If you're having an especially hard time, 2 times a week is even possible. No finding babysitting, or scheduling time away from your job. BetterHelp is convenient and easy for you.

4) Constant contact. BetterHelp maintains constant contact with your therapist. You can email every day, with at least one reply a day. This is so useful for when situations come up, but your therapist appointment isn't for another 5 days!

Conclusion: I love BetterHelp! I recommend them to everyone and think it's amazing! Give it a shot.

Honestly, this experience has been beyond helpful. Not only is this cheaper than any therapist I can find near me, but also way more convenient. I can have sessions in the comfort of my own home without that uneasy first time here feeling. I felt safe because I knew I was home and nothing from a lifetime movie was going to happen to me by being alone in a room with a stranger.

Additionally, it’s nice because rather than having to stick with a counselor because of paperwork and convenience, you’re able to change it with a click of a button if you don’t mesh well (not like I had to, my counselor was great!). And you can also check on the legitimacy of the therapists because they provide their license number. I had a counselor who had weekly availability for an hour session, and I could send her a chat any day of the week, and she would reply within hours.

All this for $45 a week or $180 a month. It can’t be beaten!

I am 62 and I have struggled with depression/suicide for 30 years. I have been hospitalized more than I want to remember, have been on a lengthy list of meds, and have gone through many half-hour sessions with professionals that after meeting me briefly or had encountered me in my hospital stays that thought they knew the best of me, BUT they never really LISTENED to me.

My counsellor with BetterHelp, Theresa, has been my light at the end of the tunnel, my life raft in a time of my life I had moved to the total opposite end of the country and could not get professional help due to an extreme shortage of psychiatrists and seeing a psychologist for one hour, once a month, was $120 PER HOUR. This is not in my budget. I came across someone on Facebook who spoke highly about BetterHelp, and I thought what have I to lose. I wrote out an extensive background, and I was given a list of attributes I would like to have in a counselor; male, female, different sexual preferences, age.

The first week was free, I had UNLIMITED contact with the counselor, I was not given just a one hour window once a week, and my counselor, Theresa, was very quick to respond back to me. She has given me ideas of areas we can start to look at in my life that could explain the way I feel now. She has never talked down to me or criticized any decisions or choices I was thinking about and has been extremely supportive when I write about my partner and things he has said or done to set me off not in a good way. Also, Theresa has not come back at me with that "why do you think that" or "why do you feel that" answer when I have poured out a very difficult moment. I have had several professional people do this to me, and it made me feel I was doing my own counseling, and they were just sitting back and collecting the fee while I was supposed to provide my own answer. If I could do that I would not be there trying to get their help.

It costs on $45 a week and there are no contracts to sign to say you will be committed to BetterHelp for a certain length of time. Again, I am not limited to only that once a week touch base with Theresa. There have been several times I have sat down, sent off an email to her and Theresa came back pretty darn quick to be that listening ear, the encourager, empathetic listener that I need at that moment.

I really encourage you to give this a try. You don't have to drive or bus anywhere, and you schedule a time good for you. YOU are important, and YOU need to give yourself a gift. Please, try. You will not regret it.

I have worked with counselors via BetterHelp. It was the best thing for me! I live in a very remote area, and finding access to help is very difficult. BetterHelp was perfect for me. I could write on my own time, day or night. Within 24 hours I would have a response to my message by a real person. They care! This app I was honestly skeptical of because I didn’t have any idea of what would come of it. I signed up, however, and got my counselor based on my needs. She is amazing and helps me through some tough times. I do at times like to talk to someone verbally rather than through typing so I can also FaceTime her when I need to. I just enjoy having almost like a pocket counselor to carry with me, LOL! So wherever I am, I can message her of any incident, and she is very understanding and nonjudgmental. It’s just a nice relief to have in the back of your mind.

I have tried online therapy in the past, TalkSpace, and didn't feel like it was very effective. I love that my therapist responds to me so often, and I feel like she is genuinely interested in helping me. I love that you can schedule live chats as much as you want. I have yet to do this, but will in the future. My therapist has given me tasks to complete and has given me worksheets on helping with my anxiety.

I live in a small, rural community, miles away from the nearest counselor. Although I have started seeing a professional counselor, it is rare to get an appointment in an emergency. I had a crisis situation occur and, in desperation, decided to check the internet to see if there was such a thing as urgent care for a mental crisis. To my great relief, there is.

BetterHelp just sounded like a good place to start. The process of getting to communicate with a counselor was relatively quick. Great application for therapy on the go, in the home, or where ever you need it. It's amazing to be able to put your thoughts into the interface as they happen and not have to wait and keep everything bottled up waiting for your next therapy appt. Counsellors are prompt with an email response to any issues you raise and supplemented with some phone or Skype therapy, and you have the best alternative to standing therapy appointments in an office.

I had tried BetterHelp before and was not happy with the counselor I was assigned, and although it was very easy to change counselors, I decided to stop using them at that point. A couple of years later, I decided to try them again and got the most excellent counselor I could have imagined. She has made a HUGE difference in my life.

The platform is very good, easy to use, and you get frequent interactions. Not for ACUTE issues but superb for those longer life issues that need frequent smaller doses of attention and assistance. I was very unsure of what my experience with BetterHelp would be like, but it has been nothing but helpful! My counselor's advice is always spot on and helpful, but sometimes, it's even just nice to know that you have someone there to listen after a bad day.

It's been three weeks since I signed up with BetterHelp. There is the BetterHelp website and model, and then there's the actual counselor you get assigned.

The website itself is fine, no major complaints, though there are some UI improvements they could make. First of all, the discussion is one long thread. Maybe allow some time for organization? Also, hiding the left side panel would be a good preference to add. I like the internal email system model of therapy versus face to face. Why? It's cheaper, I don't have to drive there, and I get as much time as I want to think about the questions he asks and my answers.

Of course, it's the counselor that makes the $265 monthly fee worth it or not. I lucked out and got assigned Jeremy Rhodes, who has been great. Very insightful, understanding and he asks me questions that really look at myself and the issues I'm facing.

The monthly fee is really inexpensive when you compare to face to face therapy and having to drive to the facility. Even if you have coverage, this is a great deal. If you pay out of pocket, it's an even better deal!

I am in treatment for severe anxiety and do take medications. My doctor recommended that I go through therapy to help in my recovery. She referred a therapist to me. The one thing I didn't want to do is take time to drive to therapy once a week. Well, then the answer came. I came across an ad for BetterHelp on Facebook, and I thought that maybe it was the perfect answer. Online therapy at the tip of your fingers, at home. So I went to the site and joined.

I've got to say, I love it! This is better than once a week therapy because I speak to my licensed therapist Monday through Friday just by sending messages back and forth. Should something come up, I can contact her immediately.
