About Beverly Hills MD Clarity Complete
The “result of years of research and careful formulation,” Clarity Complete from Beverly Hills MD is a comprehensive, 2-phase acne system that can reduce breakouts, pimples, blackheads, and even clogged pores. And it accomplishes this by targeting the problem from the inside and out.
With Clarity Complete, you can also expect softer, smoother, more radiant skin, along with reduced appearance of scarring. And not only will you reduce redness and swelling caused by your existing acne, but you’ll also be able to prevent future breakouts!
But don’t think that Beverly Hills MD’s Clarity Complete is just for teens; the 5-part system is safe and effective for anyone, regardless of age. Does this necessarily mean that it’s your best option, though?
In other words, what kinds of results can you realistically expect with Clarity Complete? And perhaps most importantly, is it worth the money? We’ll explore all these topics (and more) in this review.
First up, what is acne?
What is Acne? What Causes It?
Acne is an extremely common condition caused by pores clogged with “greasy secretions from the skin's sebaceous glands (oil glands).” And when this occurs, the pore can become red and swollen, leading to what’s commonly known as pimples.
Now, although the medical community has a pretty solid understanding of the mechanics of acne, they’re still not certain exactly what triggers it in the first place. Although hormone levels and bacteria are thought to play key roles.
But can Clarity Complete address any of these causes? Before we get to that, let’s take a look at exactly how the system is claimed to work.
How Does the Clarity Complete System Work?
BHMD’s Clarity Complete is a 2-part system consisting of 5 different products:
- Pore Purifying Cleansing Foam
- Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel
- Oil-Free Skin Renewal Complex
- Anti-Acne Spot Concentrate
- Acne Scar Targeting
Unfortunately, other than the ingredients they contain (more about this in the next section), we’re not told much about any of these products, or exactly how they work to treat your acne.
However, we are told that these products are implemented over two different phases:
First, Phase 1 involves an oral supplement (probably the Oil-Free Skin Renewal Complex mentioned above) that works to “to clear out bacteria, reduce oil, and promote the health of your pores” from the inside out. Then, Phase 2 is where the topical treatments come in, including the Treatment Gel and Cleansing Foam.
Because it works from the inside and outside to treat your acne, this is why Beverly Hills MD calls Clarity Complete a “multi-action system.”
Alright, now that we’ve got a better handle on how Clarity Complete works, let’s circle back to its ingredients.
Are Clarity Complete’s Ingredients Effective for Reducing Acne?
According to Beverly Hills MD, Clarity Complete “combines new clear skin technology with advanced natural healing ingredients.” Is this really the case?
Salicylic Acid vs. Benzoyl Peroxide
First, perhaps the biggest difference when comparing Clarity Complete with other acne treatment systems is their use of salicylic acid versus benzoyl peroxide. Is there a meaningful difference?
As the most common OTC acne-fighting ingredient, benzoyl peroxide is thought to kill acne-causing bacteria, while not affecting oil production or the shedding of skin follicle cells. Although benzoyl peroxide can take 4 weeks of continuous use to see results, as soon as you stop using it, your acne will return.
In general, salicylic acid is often considered a milder acne treatment than benzoyl peroxide, which “helps unclog pores to resolve and prevent lesions.” However, salicylic acid doesn’t kill bacteria like benzoyl peroxide, but it will require continuous use to keep your acne at bay.
Now, let’s take a look at some of Clarity Complete’s other ingredients.
Other Ingredients Contained in the Clarity Complete System
While there are dozens of ingredients contained in BHMD’s Clarity Complete system (click here for a full list), the only active ingredient ranges between 0.5% and 2% salicylic acid. This is also something you’ll find in hundreds of other OTC acne treatments from well-known companies, including Nutrogena, Murad, Burt’s Bees, and many more.
All of Clarity Complete’s other ingredients, such as bromelain, resveratrol, gotu kola, white willow bark, and a “special blend of niacin and zinc” are inactive, and have insufficient clinical evidence showing them to be effective at targeting acne, its root cause, or its side effects.
Despite this somewhat fuzzy efficacy, how much does Clarity Complete cost?
Will You Pay a Lot For Clarity Complete?
How much you’ll pay for Clarity Complete depends where you purchase it from. For example, if you purchase directly on the BHMD website, you’ll pay:
- Single Complete Set: $39.99
- 2 Complete Sets: $67.98
- 3 Complete Sets: $89.97
For this price, you’ll also receive 2 free gifts: an anti-acne spot treatment and a pore-purifying cleansing foam. Note: Based on what we learned above, these products are already part of the Clarity Complete system, so they might not really be considered “free gifts.”
However, if you purchase Clarity Complete on this landing page, you’ll pay:
- 30-day supply (1 set): $95
- 60-day supply (2 sets): $161.50
Regardless of where it’s purchased, your Clarity Complete order will come with frees shipping (within in the US), as well as a 60-day refund policy. In order to request one, you’ll need to call Beverly Hills MD’s customer service at 877-828-5528.
Speaking of which, what do we know about Clarity Complete’s manufacturer?
Who is Beverly Hills MD?
And overall, these products seem to have a good reputation among HighYa readers, with an average rating of 4 stars. Common compliments appeared to reference positive results and pleasant smell and texture.
On the other hand, some customer complained that their products didn’t work and were priced too high. When customers complain though, Beverly Hills MD seemed to good job of responding and attempting to find a solution.
But what about Clarity Complete, specifically? It appears that Clarity Complete was a very new product at the time of our research, so there weren’t any online customer reviews available.
From a company perspective though, Beverly Hills MD had an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, based on just 2 closed complaints (as of 12/15/15). Unfortunately, the details of these complaints weren’t available.
Ok, we’ve covered a whole lot of ground in this Clarity Complete review. Now, let’s bring it all home and help you figure out if it’s right for you.
Will Clarity Complete Give You Freedom From Acne?
Beverly Hills MD’s Clarity Complete system definitely has a lot going for it; it comes from a fairly reputable manufacturer with high marks from customers, along with the fact that it includes salicylic acid (which is a common, but effective, anti-acne ingredient).
Despite these positives though, it’s important to remember that salicylic acid is the only effective ingredient contained in any of Clarity Complete’s five products, which can be found in thousands of other OTC products from your local pharmacy—and probably for a lot less, too.
Does this mean that these other products are any more or less effective than Clarity Complete, or that the system’s other ingredients won’t provide some benefits? Not necessarily. But this also means that you should carefully consider price before handing over any of your hard-earned money.
And in the end, effectively treating your acne might require stronger products only available through a prescription, which is why you should always consult with your dermatologist before beginning any new treatment regimen.
The good news is that if you decide to roll the dice on Clarity Complete, Beverly Hills MD offers a 60-day refund policy. So ultimately, you might only be out a few dollars for S&H for giving it a try.
