About Bidet Buddy

Feeling less-than-clean after you go?

Bidet Buddy—a discreet bidet that installs on any toilet in minutes—can gently wash you completely clean, without toilet paper or wipes.

All you have to do is turn it on, adjust the water pressure to your comfort level, and sit back and relax while Bidet Buddy rinses you clean, irritation-free. It’s so easy that even your kids can use it!

And when you’re done, Bidet Buddy instantly hides away.

Wondering if Bidet Buddy is right for you? Confused about what a bidet is in the first place? To answer all your questions, let’s start with the basics.

What is a Bidet? Is it Effective?

Not to be too crude about it, but bidets are small, oval plumbing fixtures that use water to clean your (ahem) backside after you’ve used the restroom. Traditional bidets are separate fixtures than toilets, but there are also many toilets from mainstream manufacturers that feature built-in bidets.

Although they’re extraordinarily popular in many parts of the world, bidets largely haven’t caught on with Americans, due to several reasons.

Despite this, bidets are widely considered to be more sanitary and hygienic than using toilet paper. In fact, because no (or less) toilet paper is being used, bidets are also thought to be less stressful on the environment.

Good news so far, right? But does this mean you should run right out and buy Bidet Buddy? First, consider other options.

You Have a Lot of Bidet Choices

Even if you’ve already decided that you want a bidet, standalone fixtures can cost several hundred (or thousand) dollars, which can be a big hurdle to overcome.

Thankfully, in recent years, dozens of companies have started offering bidets that can be attached to existing toilets, which you can see by typing the phrase “bidet toilet attachments,” “toilet mounted bidet,” or “bidet seat” into the search engine of your choice. You’ll also find options at local home improvement stores.

During your search, you’ll almost certainly find a couple of options that feature the same basic principle as Bidet Buddy (more about this in a moment). In fact, many appear to be essentially identical.

Admittedly, most of these options will cost you $60 and up. How much does Bidet Buddy cost?

How Much Does Bidet Buddy Cost?

One Bidet Buddy is priced at $19.99 plus $7.99 S&H. You’ll be able to purchase another at checkout for an additional $7.99 S&H.

Bidet Buddy comes with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H. Did you catch that?

This means that if you ordered the BOGO offer, you’ll probably lose just as much in non-refundable S&H charges as you’ll receive as part of your refund.

Nonetheless, in order to request a refund, you’ll need to call Telebrands customer service at 855-789-4109.

Alright, at least compared to the competition, it seems that Bidet Buddy can help you save some money. Will it save you time with installation, though?

How To Install Bidet Buddy in 5 Steps

According to the manufacturer, Bidet Buddy will “install in minutes.” This is technically true, although just how many minutes it takes (whether 5 or 50) largely depends on your plumbing experience.

In most instances, we think a basic knowledge of plumbing should allow you to get the job done—although not necessarily quickly.

Note: We did not test Bidet Buddy, and there are no installation instructions on the product’s website. The below instructions are based on almost identical bidet attachments from other manufacturers (we’d recommend watching this video for more details).

  1. First, shut off the water supply and drain your toilet’s water tank. Then, disconnect the water supply line from the shutoff valve.
  2. Remove your existing toilet seat and put Bidet Buddy in place.
  3. After making sure everything is aligned and level, place the plastic screws from your seat through the two corresponding holes in Bidet Buddy. Use the underside bolts to tighten.
  4. Attach a t-valve to your shutoff valve (this does not appear to be included with your order—be sure to use plumber’s tape!). Then, reattach your toilet’s supply line to the top of the valve, and Bidet Buddy’s supply line to the remaining opening.
  5. Turn your water back on and check for leaks. If all is well, use the bidet attachment according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Now that you’ve got a better idea of what it’ll take to install Bidet Buddy, let’s discuss a couple concerns we have before wrapping up.

Some Concerns Regarding Bidet Buddy

Even if you’re Bidet Buddy installation goes flawlessly, we’d have to wonder if its thickness would raise the rear (no pun intended) of your toilet seat, causing you to sit at an angle. Admittedly, we didn’t find any complaints about this in the installation videos we watched during the course our research, but we still think it’s worth mentioning.

Next, if you’re not familiar with the ins and outs of bidets, remember that Bidet Buddy doesn’t have a hot water attachment, so any water that reaches your backside will be cold. It sure might wake you up in the morning, though!

Finally (although it’s probably obvious), with its large dial sticking out to the side, Bidet Buddy won’t exactly be a secret. It will be plainly visible to anyone who enters your bathroom, regardless whether or not they use your toilet.

Is Bidet Buddy the “Ultimate Toilet Accessory?”

Based on its similarity to other products, the basic principle behind Bidet Buddy seems trustworthy. Assuming, of course, that it’s a quality product built to withstand everyday wear and tear.

While there weren’t any online reviews available for Bidet Buddy during our research, some other popular products from Telebrands (such as Ankle Genie, Pocket Hose Ultra, and Hurricane 360 Spin Mop) often come with low customer satisfaction ratings. Why? Mostly due to complaints of not working as advertised and poor quality.

Will this be the case with Bidet Buddy? We definitely think it’s something you should consider during your decision making process.

What can you do instead? We might recommend researching local options, which could be of better quality and provide longer-lasting service, but will also cost more than Bidet Buddy.

Or, for the ultimate money saving option, you can tackle a DIY bidet project!

I purchased this item through Groupon on October 12th, 2019. From day one it was leaking from the main body. There was no help from Groupon customer service and no phone number to contact the seller. It cost me $31.00 for a piece of crap. This is a scam.

I will not Groupon to anyone.

    Flooded our home

Flooded our home after six days of use! I am a plumber and even though the product looked cheap, I figured if it was on the market so it had to go through some kind of testing to make it into production. The installation was simple and I made sure to get the connections on carefully. I then tested each connection to ensure there were no leaks. After a few tests, I felt confident that it would work.

Six days after installation my wife, three children and I returned home after a night out. As I followed my family into the house, we could hear noise coming from somewhere in the house. My wife quickly ran down the stairs to our newly finished basement and saw water pouring out of our ceiling! I quickly ran to the master bathroom realizing this product was the most recently installed plumbing fixture. Sure enough, this was the cause! I turned the stop off to the toilet and we all went to work as fast as we could in efforts to save our basement from the flooding water.

After pulling up carpet, throwing carpet pad away, drilling holes in the sheetrock, having my kids put buckets under the can light to catch water, vacuuming water up and getting fans going to dry things up, I went to investigate the Bidet Buddy. I quickly found that the initial valve or hose connection that comes from the factory failed! It gave me some comfort knowing that it was not my connections that failed; however, our house was still a mess. And yes, I have a pressure regulator, and it is set at 50 PSI!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

  • Good product but…

WE really like the Bidet Buddy, especially the blue light, no need to turn a light on at night when using the toilet and it does clean the butt.

Now the BUT, after 1 month of use it has a small continuous flow of water that we can not stop. No matter what we do whit the control lever the water flows.

I just sent Telebrands an email and we will see what happens. We do have another Bidet but made by another company and it works well, no problem with the water running.

Bidet Buddy is cheaply made and DANGEROUS

This cheap hunk of plastic was easy to install and worked fine - for about 48 hours. Then, my wife woke up in the middle of the night to hear running water coming from the bathroom. She went in to find the cheap plastic compression fitting on the plastic water line had broken and was leaking water all over the floor, flooding our bathroom! Thankfully, she caught it before it could do much damage. If we had been away for a day or two, our entire house would have been flooded with untold damage and a huge insurance claim. I took it off immediately. That was a warning shot, so I'm not taking any chances. I'll spend a little more to get a quality product elsewhere. DON'T USE THIS PRODUCT.
