What is Biogenic XR?

Biogenic XR is a male enhancement supplement that claims to be able to deliver maximum sexual benefits using what it describes as a medical-strength formulation of ingredients. The makers of the product promise that it will provide bigger, long-lasting erections, a surge in sex drive and energy, and an increase in your sexual confidence overall to boot.

We’re told that this formula works in two ways to deliver these admittedly impressive-sounding results; increasing “free” testosterone levels in the body while also stimulating nitric oxide production to the penis. Claiming to be the only product that does both, the makers of Biogenic XR seem confident that it will allow you to achieve peak performance.

The main product website seems to be targeted towards men dealing with erectile dysfunction, with the company claiming that Biogenic XR is actually capable of treating these issues at their roots, helping you to live out a more fulfilled, satisfying sex life, but is this truly what you can expect in reality?

We’ll explore this more in just a moment, but for now, let’s briefly take a high-level look at erectile dysfunction to better understand what it looks like, what causes it, and what is commonly done to treat it in the section below. From there, we’ll be in a better position to evaluate the ingredients found in Biogenic XR’s formula for their potential effectiveness.

Understanding Erectile Dysfunction: Causes and Treatments

Erectile dysfunction (or ED for short) s most easily described as the inability to achieve and sustain an erection suitable for sexual intercourse. Far from being a fringe issue, this debilitating disorder affects the lives of millions of men worldwide, with some studies pointing to the notion that up to 52 percent of all males will experience it at some point in their lives.

A report from the Mayo Clinic lists that the following may increase your risks of developing ED:

  • “Heart disease
  • Clogged blood vessels (atherosclerosis)
  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Metabolic syndrome — a condition involving increased blood pressure, high insulin levels, body fat around the waist and high cholesterol
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Certain prescription medications
  • Tobacco use
  • Peyronie's disease — development of scar tissue inside the penis
  • Alcoholism and other forms of substance abuse
  • Sleep disorders
  • Treatments for prostate cancer or enlarged prostate
  • Surgeries or injuries that affect the pelvic area or spinal cord”

Psychological issues like depression, stress and anxiety can also be risks, and can often be combined with physical ones, making treating the condition all the more challenging for many. Biogenic XR claims to be able to deliver the results described earlier on, but what are some of the most common treatment methods in use today?

In general, the most commonly turned-to solution seems to be prescription medications such as Viagra and Cialis, but other, more involved solutions such as penis pumps, rings, and even surgical implants can be used, should the situation require it. That said, where do supplements like Biogenic XR factor in?

On their website, the US Food and Drug Association warns consumers about the potential risks of purchasing a male enhancement supplement online, stating that the risks involved with them are very real:

“Products falsely marketed as “dietary supplements” or “foods” that promise to enhance your sexual performance or increase sexual stimulation might contain hidden drug ingredients or other undisclosed ingredients — and can endanger your health.”

They mention that the agency has single-handedly found over 300 of these products to contain these undisclosed ingredients, though none are mentioned by name on the page. They do, however, further warn readers to avoid products that do any of the following:

  • “Promise quick results (within 30 to 40 minutes)
  • Are advertised as alternatives to FDA-approved prescription drugs
  • Are sold in single servings
  • Advertise via spam or unsolicited emails
  • Have labels written primarily in a foreign language
  • Have directions and warnings that mimic FDA-approved products”

Having learned this, we’ll need to refocus on the ingredients used in the Biogenic XR formula in order to evaluate how effective–and safe–you can expect it to be.

Biogenic XR Formula Ingredients

On the main website, it’s shown that the formulation used within Biogenic XR includes the following seven ingredients:

  • Boron
  • Orchic Substance
  • Saw Palmetto Extract
  • Horny Goat Weed Extract
  • Tongkat Ali Extract
  • Nettle Extract
  • BipPerine

We didn’t encounter any information on dosage or concentration amounts for these substances as of this writing, so we reached out to customer service to attempt to gain more insight into them. After speaking with multiple agents, however, none were able to provide any additional information.

Based on our previous experience reporting on similar products, we’ve found that it can be very difficult to determine what sort of effects you will experience without knowing how much of each ingredient you are actually ingesting.

Based on what we do know, sources such as WebMD, the Mayo Clinic and Examine.com state that outside of tongkat ali, which may help improve sperm quality and concentration in men, none of the other ingredients have sufficient clinical evidence tied to their ability to deliver improved sexual functionality, or increased nitric oxide and free testosterone production.

Potential Biogenic XR Side Effects

Along the same lines as above, without specific dosage information from the makers of Biogenic XR, it can be very difficult to predict what sort of side effects you’re likely to experience. Based on information taken from Drugs.com, Examine.com, and WebMD, however, list the following potential side effects:

  • Boron: When taken by mouth in doses greater than 20 mg daily, boron may be harmful to male fertility.
  • Horny goat weed: dizziness, vomiting, dry mouth, thirst, and nosebleed, as well as spasms and severe breathing problems, though no dosage amounts are reported.
  • Saw Palmetto: dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea, though again, no dosage information was reported.

Though no other serious side effects were listed, if you ever have doubts about a particular ingredient, especially in relation to a potential interaction with a current medication, we’d recommend speaking with your doctor first before doing anything else.

Biogenic XR Pricing & Return Policy

As of this writing, Biogenic XR was available exclusively as a “free trial” directly from the manufacturer online. This means that you’ll be prompted to pay just $4.95 for your initial supply, thus beginning your 14-day trial window. The terms laid out on the website, however, state that once this has concluded, you’ll be immediately charged the full price of $89.78 and enrolled in the company’s autoship program.

As a member of this program, you’ll be continually shipped a new supply of Biogenic XR (and charged this amount) until you reach out to customer service to cancel at 844-688-6199. The terms state that all orders placed on the website can be returned for a refund, as long as they were made within 30 days of your call. You’ll be responsible for paying any return shipping fees, and you’ll need to contact the company using the number above to initiate this process.

Our Verdict: Should You Purchase Male Enhancement Products Like Biogenic XR?

As we learned above, the FDA doesn’t regulate supplement products as closely as prescription medications and foods, and they’ve warned consumers about potentially hazardous ingredients found in products similar to the one at hand. The Mayo Clinic adds that these products can indeed cause potentially adverse reactions to many popular medications.

Relating to Biogenic XR in particular, we learned that only one ingredient in its formula, tongkat ali, was listed by authoritative sources such as WebMD, the Mayo Clinic and Examine.com as being beneficial for sexual health, though it was limited to improving sperm concentration and quality.

When coupled with the warnings issued from trusted organizations and the potentially expensive autoship program (should you fail to cancel it), as consumers ourselves, we feel that a better first step might be to talk with your doctor directly about the challenges you are facing. Not only have they heard it all a hundred times before, but they are uniquely equipped to put you on a path toward an effective solution that works for you in the long run.
