About BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia

According to the manufacturer, BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia is the “newest, fastest fat buster” that uses a “miraculous weight loss plant” to help you burn fat, decrease your appetite, and improve your mood. All BioHealth products, including Garcinia Cambogia, are claimed to include 100% pure ingredients, and to be completely safe.

BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia is manufactured by BioHealth Research, LLC (also known as Bio Health Research Center, Inc) based out of New York, NY. The company holds an F rating with the Better Business Bureau, based on 17 closed complaints, the vast majority of which appear to reference poor customer service, difficulty obtaining a refund, and failure to work as advertised. In fact, the BBB even sent a letter to the company regarding concerns about many of the claims made on their Garcinia Cambogia website, though it appears the company has not responded to date.

How BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia Works

By using 60% hydroxycitric acid (HCA) derived from the Garcinia Cambogia plant, BioHealth claims that their supplement can help you:

  • Burn fat by inhibiting citrate lyase, which is responsible for converting carbohydrates into fat.
  • Suppress your appetite by increasing serotonin levels within your brain.
  • Improve your mood by reducing the presence of stress hormones.

Each serving size (2 gelatin capsules) of BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia includes the following ingredients:

  • Calcium 50mg
  • Chromium 200mcg
  • Potassium 50mg
  • Garcinia Cambogia Extract 1,000mg

While BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia is claimed to be made without binders or fillers, as we noted in our Garcinia Cambogia Buyer’s Guide, calcium has actually been shown to reduce any benefits provided by hydroxycitric acid. In addition, while the company claims that the supplement is manufactured in an FDA registered facility, and is be backed by “rock solid evidence,” there are no studies on the product’s website to support these claims (see the Bottom Line section for additional information).

BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia Pricing & Refund Policy

BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia is only available directly through the manufacturer, and in three different purchasing options:

  • 1-Month Starter Package – 1 Bottle: $48 plus $9.95 S&H
  • 3-Month Moderate Plan – 3 Bottles: $98 with free S&H
  • 5-Month Monster Plan – 5 Bottles: $148 with free S&H

On a positive note, unlike many other supplement manufacturers, there are no autoship programs associated with BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia.

BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia comes with a 30-day money back guarantee, though you’ll be responsible for return shipping back to the company. Before doing this though, be sure to contact customer service at 800-865-7053 for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number, which will need to be included on the package. Finally, keep in mind that all returns are subject to a $5 per-unit (e.g. per bottle) restocking fee.

Bottom Line: Is BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia a Scam?

In short, we highly recommend staying away from BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia. Here’s why:

To begin with, as we mentioned in our Can Garcinia Cambogia Really Help You Lose Weight? article, there is no definitive proof that Garcinia Cambogia, or 60% HCA, actually help humans lose weight. In fact, taking a look at the National Institutes of Health website, the vast majority of clinical trials have either shown inconclusive or negative evidence linking HCA to effective, whole body weight loss.

Next, despite the manufacturer claiming that BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia is produced without binders or fillers, they include calcium, chromium, and potassium as primary ingredients, in addition to Garcinia Cambogia. With this in mind, while potassium helps your body better absorb any ingredients, calcium has been clinically shown to actually reduce any benefits provided by HCA. In addition, there is insufficient evidence showing a link between chromium and weight loss.

Furthermore, the BioHealth Garcinia Cambogia website is poorly written, and doesn’t make sense in several areas. Take the following as an example: “The first thing that you have to do in order to weed out the poor products from the best is to understand the standards set forth which helps one lose weight. By making sure that the product you choose follows his strict standards, you can sleep easy knowing that it’s something that’s going to produce true results and not a memory of something that was only a waste of money.” Unfortunately, the remainder of the website isn’t any better. And if a company is this sloppy about the public face they put on their product, how can we be sure they’re any more careful during the manufacturing process?

Next, the company has flooded search engine results with fake review sites, which could lead some readers into believing they’re reading legitimate customer reviews when it’s actually just more marketing material from BioHealth. On top of this, the product’s URL was registered in December 2012, shortly after Garcinia Cambogia first appeared on the Dr. Oz TV show, leading us to believe that they’re simply jumping on the bandwagon to make a quick buck.

Finally, the company holds an F rating with the Better Business Bureau, with the most common complaints referencing poor customer service, difficulty obtaining a refund, and failure to work as advertised.

Even though the benefits of Garcinia Cambogia have yet to be clinically established, if you’re planning on taking the supplement, we recommend researching other manufacturers.

I ordered three bottles. I tried the first bottle and didn't notice any change in suppressing my appetite or losing weight, so stopped taking it after three weeks.

After about 12 months I tried again and was taking it exactly as directed for nine days. However, after going out and consuming two or three ounces of alcohol, I was sick in the morning. It may have been the flu, but even before getting ill, because I was not feeling that good a few days beforehand.

I didn't have any increase in energy while taking it and my bowel movements were less frequent for some reason.

  • Great Product

I bought this after seeing on Dr. Oz and ordered one bottle and received a free bottle. I then ordered three month supply and took all of the product. I then was going to order another three month supply and the computer took me to a different site and I mistakenly ordered from that site. It did not work what so ever, however, I can't say enough good things about the Bio Health Garcinia Cambogia. It did work, suppressed my appetite and I ended up losing over sixty pounds by taking this product and changing the way that I ate. I want to order more but every time I pull up web site it directs me to something else and only got a voice mail when I call the number. I want more but don't know how to get more and only want his brand.

I tried this product after watching Dr Oz. I saw an ad in my email that said that this great price only good until midnight that night. So I ordered it. I tried it and experienced no results. After taking the whole first bottle and of course after shipping time, the refund time was up.

I thought that maybe it would take a couple bottles to see results but no luck.

I see that after a few months they are still offering at the price they made me believe was a one time deal when I ordered the first time. And now I see they changed their name to synergy and are in New Jersey but with same customer contact number. Bad Company.

First of all, the 30 day guarantee means you have 30 days to not only try it but to have it back in their hands and checked in. That should be the first clue. My return was back in time but they refused when it reached the fulfillment center.

Customer service had no interest in trying to resolve the issue and had no manager seems to exist.

Never had such a horrible attitude from a customer service employer.

I actually got the deal buy 1 get 1 free. I started taking the supplement right away too! I was so excited. What I experienced was not good. My clothes started to get real tight and I noticed I was getting more constipated. My bowl movements weren't coming around when I needed and I had problems going. I stopped taking it! I threw the first bottle away and still have the other one still unopened.
