BouDe is a flushable wipes dispenser that hangs directly on your toilet paper holder, providing “freshness within reach!”
Unlike the competition, each BouDe wipe is made from a “revolutionary,” all-natural, biodegradable material that disperses and breaks apart like regular toilet paper, making it safe for sewers and septic tanks.
BouDe wipes are also pH balanced, hypoallergenic, and alcohol free, without harsh chemicals. They also feature aloe for soothing comfort and install in seconds:
- Slip onto any toilet paper holder.
- Lift the latch and insert refill pack.
- Press to open lid and reveal wipes.
Soothing, flushable wipes? Why didn’t I think of something like this?
But are products like BouDe anything new? Can this “As Seen on TV” product provide any kind of real value? Let’s start by taking a look at your options.
Similar Flushable Wipes to BouDe
When you’re researching an ASOTV product (or any other type of product, for that matter), one of the best things you can do is search for similar products online. This allows you to directly compare and contrast the competition.
In the instance of BouDe, you can type “flushable wipes,” “sanitary wipes,” or “biodegradable wipes” into any search engine, and you’ll get thousands of results.
During this search, you’ll notice two other things: First, many of these options are available through local big box retailers like Target, Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Toys R Us, and more.
Second, you’ll also notice that nearly all of these options are less expensive than BouDe. What does this mean for you?
Because you’ll almost certainly be able to find nearly identical products as BouDe from local retailers, this can provide you with 3 distinct advantages:
- You’ll be able to immediately take the product home and use it, without waiting for shipping.
- You’ll be able to simply hop in your car if you don’t like the wipes and return them to the store.
- If you process a return, you’ll save a decent chunk of change in lost S&H charges.
Speaking of S&H charges, let’s talk about BouDe’s price to provide some additional clarification.
BouDe’s Price & Return Policy
Two packages of BouDe wipes are priced at $10 plus $13.90 S&H (that’s more than the product itself!). For this price, you’ll receive 84 flushable wipes and 2 BouDe dispensers.
All BouDes come with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. Did you add it up yet? This means you’ll lose at least 50% more in S&H charges than you’ll get back as a refund!
If you still want to process a refund, you’ll need to contact BouDe’s manufacturer at (973) 227-3486 extension 0.
Pro tip: The manufacturer doesn’t appear to provide BouDe refills on their own. However, when you run out, could probably refill the BouDe dispenser using most brands of flushable wipes.
Alright, so we can see that one of BouDe’s drawbacks is its price compared to the competition. Are there any other drawbacks to flushable wipes in general?
Pros & Cons of Biodegradable Wipes
Although you should always check the ingredients on the back of the package for any possible allergic reactions (after all, we’re talking about a very sensitive area!), most flushable wipes are perfectly safe to use.
Some of the obvious advantages are that flushable wipes are pre-moistened, often with aloe or a similar ingredient, to provide a soothing sensation. This can be a welcome change from sometimes harsh toilet paper.
And because flushable wipes like BouDe won’t aggravate your skin like toilet paper, they can provide a more comfortable overall experience.
But this doesn’t mean that flushable wipes don’t come without any downfalls. In fact, the “flushable” part of the wipes might not be accurate at all.
While it’s true that wipes like BouDe might “disperse and break apart like toilet paper,” the important aspect is how long this process takes. According to this 2013 Michigan State University article, “The problem is that [flushable wipes] appear to take longer to break down when compared to traditional toilet paper, and as a result have caused major blockages in sewer systems.”
The reality? Although wipes like BouDe are claimed to be flushable, they’re really not. Sure, they might go down your toilet’s drain, but they could cost millions of dollars in damage to your city’s sewer system, or thousands of dollars in damage to your septic system.
Should You Buy BouDe Flushable Wipes?
From a price perspective, BouDe seems to be much more expensive than most of the competition. And they’re even less of a bargain when you factor in non-refundable S&H charges.
But the real expense related to BouDe (or any other brand) is that these wipes should not be considered “flushable,” despite what their manufacturers claim. If you fail to heed this warning, then you could end up shelling out thousands of dollars to repair your septic system, or higher taxes to help repair your city’s damaged sewer system.
What can you do if you want some soothing comfort, but don’t want to harm the environment? There are a variety of products you can find by searching for “flushable wipes alternatives,” such as gels, moisteners, DIY options, and even installing a bidet (which is more expensive, but is also much more sanitary).

Not satisfied, purchased for myself and gifts
I purchased this for myself and some gifts for Christmas. The idea is good, however, I can't get the box closed tight. It appears to be warped, and the wipes are dried out. This was also a problem for the people that I gave it as gifts to. I guess we have to go back to the boxed wipes.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
