About Brew Caps
Brew Caps are small, specially designed BPA-free plastic caps that are intended to attach to your used single-serve coffee pods, allowing you to reuse and refill these pods and save you money in the process.
On top of this, once you’ve added the coffee grounds of your choice and locked Brew Caps in place, the proprietary “even flow spray system” is claimed to infuse the pod for rich, “heavenly fresh” flavor. In fact, the company claims that Brew Caps can even be used to brew tea and hot chocolate.
According to the manufacturer, Brew Caps works with all your favorite coffee brands over 3 steps:
- Peel the label from your used pod and empty the contents.
- Refill the pod with your favorite brand of ground coffee.
- Snap on a Brew Cap and insert it into your coffee maker to begin brewing.
Once you’re finished using Brew Caps, the company claims they’re easily rinsed and are quickly ready for more brewing.
If you hate throwing away your use single-serving coffee pods—both for the waste it generates and the money you’re tossing out—can Brew Caps provide a useful solution? Consider the following:
Will Brew Caps Work with All Coffee Makers?
Although Brew Caps is claimed to “work with all you favorite coffee brands,” it’s important to understand what this means. In other words, this statement is intended to imply that you can use whatever coffee grounds you like inside the Brew Caps pods.
However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the pod caps will work with all brands of coffee makers. Why? Because as Nespresso, Keurig, and Bosch have announced, they’re coming out with models that only work with their proprietary pods, which are bar-coded to prevent you from using aftermarket pods like Brew Caps.
Similar Options to Brew Caps
Next, keep in mind that you have a wide variety of options from which to choose, although not all alternative work identically to Brew Caps. To see for yourself, simply type “reusable coffee pods” into your favorite search engine and watch how many results pull up.
In fact, reusable single-serve coffee pods are so popular that you’ll almost certainly find one at a home goods retailer near you.
On top of this, many of these options will be less expensive than Brew Caps, especially considering its high, non-refundable S&H charges, which we’ll talk more about in a moment.
Customers Aren’t Talking about Brew Caps
Despite the length of time Brew Caps has been on the market, there weren’t any online customer reviews available.
However, Brew Caps is made by Spark Innovators, a mainstay within the “As Seen on TV” industry who manufacturers many popular ASOTV products, including InVinceable and Engrave-It Pro. Among 75 HighYa reader reviews for these products (as of 6/8/15), they had an average customer rating of 2 stars, with common complaints citing poor quality and failure to work as advertised.
While this doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily experience the same with Brew Caps, it’s something to keep in mind nonetheless.
Despite these ratings, Spark Innovators held an A- rating with the Better Business Bureau, based on just 7 closed complaints. Unfortunately, no complaint details were available.
