Bye bye to this membership

By Lauren , Boston, MA

So I ordered this in the belief that it was full coverage and only $39.99. I didn't realize it was really about $120. I thought it was one of those things to try, and if you like it, they will keep sending it to you so you won't run out. And if you don't like it, you can just cancel after the first month. But I guess that ISN'T the case at all. Also, I ordered medium, my fiancé told me to order light, good thing I got a medium. It's so obvious my face is covered with makeup, not to mention it doesn't cover my dark circles like I'd hoped. My face really isn't bad at all, so for this to not really work on me is bad. I'm so upset.

Frosting for your face

By Cynthia Rosario, Mesa, AZ, Verified Reviewer

It's just makeup with a high price and it's ok but I'm so sick of hearing all these claims a product can do to change your skin. As far as the deal, I purchased the package which was the $49.99 offer. I was so excited, couldn't wait to get it, thought to myself, “what a perfect way to get good quality makeup and having the majority of makeup I need by same name instead of having to go out and purchase them individually at a much higher cost”. Now I've been wearing make up for many years and know how to apply it. The first time I used it I thought I did something wrong. The powder defined every single line knock and cranny I had, even ones I didn't know I had, I looked old. So I thought I'll use less next time but no matter what I do, it sucks. The eyeliner smears and is way to moist, for a pencil eyeliner and I wasn't happy with any of it, I'm returning everything.

Product auto service

By Chris, Texas, Verified Reviewer

I was definitely concerned that I was automatically set up with a credit card charge. After dealing with Carla, at your customer service 800 number, I was told that since I got the introductory offer I was automatically setup on a new plan. I explained that it was less than 30 days since I got the offer, and according to the website that I had 90 days to think about this. She stated that I was to be receiving a new full-size box and that there was nothing I could do about it. I stated that I wanted to cancel my service and again she gave me the runaround. Finally, I got her to cancel my subscription and send me a label to return the package. I felt that she was very disrespectful and could not answer why this policy online shows 90 days and why this was happening. Here is the fine print from the website. What am I not understanding?

"We want you to continue to enjoy the benefits of IT Cosmetics®. After you receive your introductory kit, we'll ship you a new, full size supply of (5 kit /7 kit/customized kit products) every 90 days at the low price of $39.95 a month plus s&h until you cancel. There is absolutely no obligation to continue receiving auto-delivery shipments, so you can cancel anytime by calling customer service: at (800) 465-7613. You can also customize your shipments easily (see below for details)"

I was contacted by It Cosmetics when I posted this to their Web page. I was told, "Hi Chris, thank you for reaching out to us! This offer you're referring to is not through IT directly but actually through our retail partners at TryITnow.com. We truly apologize for any negative experience you may have had and we will be happy to pass along your feedback to them so they can prevent something like this from happening in the future. If you have any further questions regarding pricing of the kit we suggest contacting their customer service again at 1-888-922-0487 or customerservice@guthy-renker.com. Once again, we are so sorry for any confusion."

Not worth the money

By Kim, California, Verified Reviewer

I purchased what I thought was the 5-piece introductory kit for $39.95 (1 installment) and was sent a full size kit - for 3 installments of $39.95. If I would have loved, or even liked the products, it would be a good price, however, the product is sub-par at best. I have light skin but decided to try the medium. Thank goodness I did, as the medium Bye Bye Foundation is light. I did not like the coverage or how it blended. The powder was ok, but if you want that type of loose powder, Bare Minerals is better and costs less. The mascara was horrible! I had to put 4 coats and it still didn't look like I had much mascara on. Any brand, any drug store, is better than this one.

I called customer service and asked why I was being charged 3 installments vs the 1 time charge of $39.95 and was told the kit I ordered and received was the full size at the higher price (and was on a subscription). I explained that I clicked a link for the intro kit. She said that it happens a lot and is confusing to most customers. I kind of feel like it was a bait and switch. When I said I did not like the products enough to spend the $129, she offered me 20% off to keep them. I declined, still don't want the products at 20% off. I was then informed I have to pay return shipping. Not real pleased with IT Cosmetics.

Not happy all around.

By Deana Mathias, Lilburn, GA, Verified Reviewer

Cancelled shipments because it doesn't do anything different for me than any other store bought foundation. I called and cancelled and even got the email confirmation and the lady spoken to told me that I would never be charged again nor would I receive any shipments. And now my bank account has another charge coming thru. The lady that I just spoke with is saying I can just send it all back and receive a refund, minus shipping and handling. Uh no, I'm not suppose to receive it, so why are you still charging me and sending it? If my bills bounce because of this, I will speak to my attorney and the Better Business Bureau.

A bad experience, stay away from it.

By Anonymous Reviewer, Charleston, SC, Verified Reviewer

The first problem was that I was suggested a light shade for an African American person but a light skin color. After I had placed my order, I was still not sure the person suggested me the right shade so I went o line to check out the different shades, and that's where I confirmed the shade suggested to me was wrong. Therefore, I call back to make an adjustment on my order.

What a nightmare! I was told to call customer service and the other says for me to call sales point. I had to work so hard for something could've been a quick minute fix. In the midst of explaining my reason to everyone I talked to, I was suggested 3 types of shades, one from each person I talked to! It makes me think, are they even knowledgeable in the the product they're selling?

Finally, I opened my account to actually make payments to my own bills, and guess what I find?! A charge for $149.95, it took me a second to understand what the charge was for. The ad and sales person clearly state that the charge is $39.95 + $10.00 for adding two more products for a total of $49.95. Instead, I got charge $149.95. It's a RIP OFF. I'm still on a process to get my money back and cancel my order and never trust them ever again. I wish I checked consumer's reviews before I even attempted to order It. wasted my time trying to go from one call to the other. If it was possible, I would put Zero stars to this product. I will make sure to share my nightmare on all my social media accounts.. I wouldn't want any of this stuff happening to anyone else at all.

I am appalled that the celebrities that sit back and promote this, steal our hard earned money every day.

By Rachel, Georgetown, OH, Verified Reviewer

Just called and cancelled, because they took it upon themselves to autoship me a $140.51 90 day package of makeup that does the same thing as Dollar General's makeup does! And after scamming me, in order for me to get the money back that these people stole, I have to pay shipping and buy insurance on this crap and have it tracked. Seriously?! Y'all don't do that crap to have it sent to us, now do you? And if you do, the only reason would be so it doesn't look as bad when you scam us. You celebrities have a lot of money and you're out scamming people that live week to week and can barely afford their bills. I have kids to feed. I can't afford for companies to assume I have money and take it without asking, just because I was stupid enough to give my credit card number to try and see if this junk would help with my skin issues. Which it doesn't! I'd love to speak with owners and creators instead of calling and yelling at an innocent girl named Laura that is only answering the phone because she has to work to feed herself too. She didn't have anything to do with this scam but yet when I said connect me to someone or give me a number I can call to speak with someone, all I got was "this is the only number." I hope you sleep well at night knowing what you really do. You all should be ashamed of yourselves and jailed for theft. Have a great life. And I'll let everyone that I possibly can know not to order this crap unless they want to throw money away.

Not right for me.

By Sofie, Sonoma, CA, Verified Reviewer

This is the worst make up ever, it is like I bought it at the $0.99 store. I bought it and then canceled, but they never even gave me my refund. I will never buy their cosmetics again.

The best foundation

By Cindy, Ohio, Verified Reviewer

Purchased this product via Trial Offer. Loved the product but do not like the way it is marketed. It is light and covers beautifully without fail. It does make your face look natural and flawless.

As an RN in a plastic surgery office, I have patients who have commented on my even skin tone. Suffering from Malaise (hyperpigmentation), this foundation covers completely without feeling heavy or drying.

However, the auto delivery system is quick to charge and when attempting to cancel, the operator told me discontinuation and refund would take 8-10 weeks to correct. Was continually charge 49.95 and took many phone calls and frustrating customer services to resolve.

Please consider purchasing at Sephora or Ulta on an as needed basis. Price is the same and you do not have more than you need.

Don't buy, not even 1 time.

By Jan Gessling, Seymour, Indiana, Verified Reviewer

I chose 1 time only, they chose to put me on their automatic monthly order without my permission. Can't find return phone number or way to discontinue this makeup that I don't need every month. It is too dark. I'm so upset & disappointed with Jamie Kern Lima. I resent how she had scammed me and many other women. I will get this stopped, never again will I order anything from "Guthy-Renker." I will tell all my women friends to not order this makeup.

So so

By Mary , Rhode Island

I have been using the Bye Bye Foundation from It Cosmetics for about a year now. It is okay, but not great. It is easy to apply and looks okay, but there is not full coverage and the medium shade is yellowish. If you notice the infomercials, Jamie looks very heavily made up and a bit clownish. I don't care for that look at all. I won't buy it again, but I will use what I have. It is okay, but not the best I have used.
