Worst service ever

By Shirley, Maryland, Verified Reviewer

This company is a fraud they would use very cheap methods to unlock the phone, and then the phones works with no problem for a few months and then gets relocked again, and they won't fix the problem or refund your money.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

It's a scam, they get your money and go silent

By Jeff , Lake Worth, FL

The company seems legit, but if you read all the fine print you realize they have too many contingencies to cover for the fact that they take your money and run. They never respond to emails, it's impossible to get them on the phone other than their automated message and their status update tool online simply says order pending.

Keep your $20 and try somewhere else.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Crap

By Danielle , San Diego

I ordered a code Friday at 11am and it is now Wednesday 5pm. I'm going on day 3 and still nothing. I've been emailing about my code and here are the only responses I get: it's still processing, second time was we don't work weekends, third time was our supplier said you should get it no later than tomorrow. Now it's tomorrow and I ask what their business hours are and they reply that it is 24/7. How is it that this unlocking thing works 24/7 and will automatically generate your code when it's ready but you only work weekdays? I'm tired of waiting. I suggest not using this company. I am going to find every review place I can to make sure these people don't scam someone else. I will be going to my bank and starting an investigation. They are only getting 1 star because I have to give them something. I would have given no stars or negative stars.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

STAY AWAY

By a, Verified Reviewer

I had a horrible experience with this company! They took 2 weeks to give me an unlock code. Its a total scam. I needed my phone unlocked to be able to travel to Asia. They took so long that I was already back from my trip when I got the unlock code. Now it is completely useless to me.

I emailed several times to ask for a refund since I have not even used the code yet. There has been no response. I emailed sales and support everyday for 2 weeks and even filled out the question form on their site. I have received no contact. How can anyone trust a company that doesn't even respond to their customers.

It cost almost $40 and would have been cheaper to go through my provider, but I was hoping these guys would be faster to get the unlock code to me. I guess not.

My advice – do not use this company.

Rogers wanted to charge me $60 to unlock my Nokia N8 phone. This company gave me a code for $7.99 US. Service was fast and everything went smoothly. I do recommend them and would recommend them to a friend.

Tried it with hesitation. Glad I did!

By Eric , San Antonio, Texas

I read the reviews on this site, Highya, and was a little hesitant to try unlocking my TMobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (N900T). I know that most people who leave reviews do it because they had a poor to horrible experience or they had an amazing one, so I started looking at the low scores. A lot of the reviewers, from this and other review sites, don't leave concise reviews, make ridiculous typing errors and seem like they wouldn't be able to program the time on a microwave. That's okay; some people shouldn't be messing around with unlocking their own phones, anyway.

After looking around at other providers like this and asking T-Mobile to do it, I decided to save $20 and get a code with cellunlocker.net. I know there are a few models of my phone depending on the carrier, so I made sure I used the correct one and provided my IMEI. I was given a 1-5 hour turnaround estimate. I received confirmation of my purchase at 3:19 pm and received the email with unlock code and instructions at 6:15 pm the same day. I followed the first unlock method and was immediately successful.

Bottom Line: For "true savvy" (not "wannabe savvy") individuals, this is a great way to get an unlock code when your provider refuses to give you one or is going to charge more than it'll cost here. I believe some of the negative reviews are actual experiences, as all businesses have similar issues now and then, but this can be a quick, less-expensive option for an unlock. Here's to phone freedom!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is no good

By David Miller, Bucharest, Romania, Verified Reviewer

I ordered an unlock code for my HTC One (m7) that was locked to o2 UK. The device IMEI was confirmed not blacklisted.

Upon receiving my code and instructions, it did NOT work. Specifically, the "Enter Network Unlock PIN" screen did not come. I emailed Cellunlocker.net, and this was my response:

Hi there,

Unfortunately, the order had already completed with results which means we cannot refund this order. Codes are considered digital goods which are non refundable and we are charged for every order that is made as well.

Thank you.

The customer service is false. And their word is crap. They promise a guarantee and do not adhere. Again, not a good company.

Furthermore, they proceed to spam your inbox.

DO NOT waste your money!

Code didn't work, waste of time, eventually offered refund.

By Devin Armstrong, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

Received code. It didn't work. Called support. Nobody to talk to. When you call outside business hours, it hangs up on you. When you call during business hours, it plays a pre-recorded message telling you to email them. So why even have a phone number then?

Went back and forth by email over a period of days, as my trip out of the country got closer and closer. Eventually had to make and send them a video of me following their unlocking instructions step by step. And finally, they acknowledged that yeah, it doesn't work, and can I wait 7 to 9 further business days while they try another database for a code that does.

I'll be back home in 7 to 9 further business days, the trip I needed it unlocked for will be over. I could have been spending this time actually getting my phone unlocked instead of going back and forth and making videos for cellunlocker.net

Brutal, I do not recommend them.

Don't trust, same scammers like cellunlocker.co.uk

By Syed A., Canada, Verified Reviewer

I have purchased a code and on ordering page, the model selected as HTC U11 and a valid IMEI number was provided. I attempted but informed them their code isn't useful as I'm using HTC U11 life and it comes with a built-in app and it's T-Mobile locked. They simply refused and called for additional payment although I paid and provided video as well as a valid identification number, but they are making excuses and saying that the model is different although U11 and U11 life aren't much different for unlocking. And such practice isn't good, and I will write and spread this as much as I can. Beware, guys, they are not honest. They knew very well that U11 or U11 life were introduced in 2015 and no conventional methods used and all unlocking through the app, but they are selling codes by emails instead of sending through the app, which was advertised on their page. Don't trust them.

Company Response from Cellunlocker.net

Feb 14, 2019

Hi Syed, not really sure what your meaning is we clearly state on our site if you have the preinstalled T-Mobile unlock app you need to use that service as the code doesn't work for phones that have the app installed. For 12 dollars it doesn't even come close to our cost for the Unlock App service, so naturally we would ask for the correct pricing rather than trying to go around for paying less.

Beware folks

By Milan M., Miami, FL, Verified Reviewer

BEWARE! This company is a scam. They cannot unlock your phone, they just take your money and then you have to beg them for a refund. They tried to unlock 3 of my phones, not one they were able to unlock it. Worst unlocking company! There is plenty of other cheaper and better service companies. Dr. SIM unlocked all my 3 phones and charged me half price!

Works Great

By Jim , Barrie, Ontario Canada

The only problem I had was, to use the unlock code you need a sim card from a provider other than the company you are using. Once I obtained one of those I unlocked my phone with the code in two minutes. I notice people dishing the company as it wouldn't unlock their particular brand. That is totally their own fault, they are told before they try which phones it won't work on. I do not shop online frequently but am very happy with the product I received.

By Nicolas, Vancouver, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I have now unlocked two phones (an iPhone 6 Plus, and an iPhone 6) that were locked to Bell, Canada. The turn around time was approximately 24 hours. I received an email letting me know when the phone was unlocked, inserted Rogers SIM card, and that's it. It worked perfectly.

It worked with my Samsung Galaxy S7!

By Suzan, Zwolle, Netherlands, Verified Reviewer

I was being a skeptic because after requesting the product, it said that it would take one to three workdays, and after three days, my order status was still processing. One day later, I got an email that they have a worldwide delay, and it would take another three to five days. I thought I was being faked, but another day later I received an email that it was finished! And it's true (in my case).

I have a Samsung S7 T-Mobile from the USA, and I couldn't unlock it, even after calling the service from T-Mobile a lot of times. So after receiving this email, I was still a skeptic, but I opened the unlock app and when I tapped "permanent unlock," it was unlocked! Normally it said, "this phone is not eligible for unlock." So I'm very happy because now I can use it in the Netherlands!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

What you have to know and understand before rating these people...

By Jeff Vaughn, Verified Reviewer

First of all, I would say that 90% of the "bad" ratings, on here, are from first-timers who don't understand how it all works and they were either impatient or ignorant of how to proceed before/during/after the unlock or during the waiting period.

My receipt said it could take 2-5 "business" days, so I will wait 2 to 5 "business" days before getting concerned.

Not every phone takes the same amount of time to unlock. One might take 2 hours, one might take SEVERAL days, it's just the way it is UNLESS you want to go somewhere else and pay more for faster service.

If you look at all the sites, you will see that more money makes processing faster, it's just how it is.

Sending texts and unlocking phones have NOTHING to do with one another. "After" you unlock the phone, you HAVE to set a "new" APN so you can send SMS/MMS correctly. I've seen people blame cellunlocker.net for their own lack of understanding of, well, everything to do with the phone and the situation and it's not fair to the company.

I've bought, over the years, maybe 5 or 6 unlocks from them and never had any real issues with them. I go through phones, pretty rapidly, so I've got a history with these people and I know not every situation is going to be the same.

READ THE RECEIPT. It's going to be your guide to sanity with this process. Read it ALL, especially the part where it says "days to complete" and you won't get so wound up.

Now, in all fairness, I will take note of the other side of the situation. The phone service, associated with this company, it kind of "sucks" because you're put on hold forever sometimes.

You don't always get emails back fast when you email support and sometimes this company's website (like today) goes down for a period of time.

Like I said, I've done this SEVERAL times with this company, and always seem to have a decent experience for ONE reason, I understand the rules.

If you're impatient or paranoid which, let's be honest, there are a LOT of you out there who are both, you're not going to have a good experience with this company.

I unlocked two phones with this company; an iPhone SE and LG Leon. It was quick and easy service, and I received my code in a couple of days, (1-2 max), inserted the SIM cards, and (voila!) unlocked phones! Awesome. No need to email or call; patience is the key!

Always takes longer, frustrating support, not worth the anxiety

By David Wright, New York, Verified Reviewer

I've ordered now about six codes from these guys over a span of about two years. Although most of them were riddled with frustration, my current order is going to be my final order.

As stated by many people on this review page, these guys like to jerk you around about how long it takes for the code. They'll first claim you have the wrong estimated completion date, although the date is present before you check out, after you check out, and again in the email receipt. They'll say it'll be a day longer on the final day when you still haven't received anything. Then when you have nothing the next day, they'll say either one more day or you'll definitely have it by midnight. Then they'll keep asking for one more day or just say we're doing the best we can and you'll receive the code in your email when it's finished.

I would not mind if they were honest and said it's taking longer than we expected and actually apologized. They're just belittling and act like you're wrong and you shouldn't be asking about your order. Their time estimates should be the maximum time for them to either come up with a code or issue a refund. They should also ask the customer if they'd like to continue with trying an "alternative database" as they usually do, instead of automatically extending the search without any communication with the buyer (which may or may not result in a code anyway).

I'm plenty patient and understanding if I'm being asked to wait a bit longer and am treated kindly and feel like I'm being kept informed if things aren't going quickly and smoothly. This is not the case with these people.

I would recommend buyers seek out other merchants if they desire an unlock service that operates in the time outlined during purchase and provides a decent amount of communication to set the buyer at ease if issues arise.
