About Clarisonic Smart Profile
Clarisonic’s cleansing devices have been on the market for several years, and despite the flood of alternatives, their original sonic facial cleansing brush still creates a lot of buzz.
Having personally taken their original model for a spin, I can vouch that those vibrating bristles can make even dry and winter-chapped complexions glow.
But these days, the cleansing brush pioneer has released six more devices – all which all promise to offer clean, radiant skin. How do shoppers choose?
We’ll take a look at their newest model, the Clarisonic Smart Profile Cleansing Brush, and see how it stacks up against the others in their lineup.
But First: What Is Sonic Cleansing Smart Technology?
Clarisonic states that unlike lesser-priced, spinning alternatives, their hand-held devices feature an oscillating head that produces over 300 movements per second to loosen dirt and oil and remove impurities from your pores.
Clarisonic promises that their skin-cleansing brushes remove dirt and oil six-times better than using hands alone, resulting in softer, more radiant skin. Additionally, they claim that the removal of toxins and airborne pollutants from your skin works as an effective anti-aging treatment that also makes any topical application more powerful.
Knowing Your Options
Clarisonic’s site offers five other sonic skin brushes, but their comparison chart is yet to feature the Smart Profile device.
Alternative options range from the least expensive MIA 1 at $99, which offers a single speed and holds a twenty-minute charge, to the MIA 3 at $199, which offers three speeds and holds a thirty-minute charge.
Also available is the PLUS model at $180, which (surprise!) offers a pulse function. Each of these alternative devices come with a variety of accessories and warranty packages, depending on the model.
Looking Deeper at the Clarisonic Smart Profile Brush
The Smart Profile is one of Clarisonic’s higher-end models and promises an intuitive experience.
The device is compatible with all existing Clarisonic brush heads and is claimed to be appropriate for use on face, body, and even feet (with the appropriate accessory). It also stands out from the pack with a few unique features:
- It adjusts automatically. The Smart Profile’s brush head and handle communicate with one another to provide a vibration speed and cleansing duration that’s tailored to your use. The site does not state how the brush calculates what’s best for your skin, or if it simply adjusts depending on the pressure you apply.
- It offers a boost. There’s a separate “Turbo” button that’s claimed to give your cleansing a power boost for further customization.
- It keeps you posted. The design features an illuminated icon that tells you how much charge is left in its battery, so you can avoid it from dying out mid-cleanse. The lighted icons also inform you when it’s time to change your brush head.
The LED panel on the device’s handle keeps users updated on the following:
- The device’s speed (ranging 1-4)
- If Smart Action is engaged
- Remaining battery life
- If it’s time for a brush-head change
What You Get With the Clarisonic Smart Profile
For $265, Clarisonic Smart Profile’s cleansing brush customers also receive:
- A 2oz. sample of Clarisonic’s Refining Skin Polish
- A 1oz. sample of Clarisonic’s Refreshing Gel
- 1 Dynamic Facial Brush Head
- 1 Turbo Body Brush Head
- 1 Drying Stand
- 1 pLink Charger
- 1 Wall Adapter
Additional brush head options for feet, body, sensitive or acne-prone skin are available through Clarisonic’s site. Brush heads need to be changed out every 3-4 months, and refills cost between $27-35, depending on your selection.
How to Use Clarisonic Smart Profile Brush
In body mode, the Smart Profile Brush delivers a 30-second pulsing massage and creates a rich lather. Then, for the next two minutes, the continuous cleansing mode provides an all-over cleanse, ending with another 30-second pulsing massage.
When used on the face, Clarisonic recommends starting on the forehead with the brush flush against your skin, at which point it will cleanse deeply and flush pore-bound impurities. The Smart Profile Brush will beep after 20 seconds, letting you know it’s time to address your nose and chin areas.
Finally, another beep will occur after 20 more seconds, signaling a low-power, 10-second cleanse on each cheek.
What People Are Saying About Clarisonic Smart Profile
The Clarisonic Smart Profile received an overall 4.9/5 stars on Sephora’s site. The glowing reviews make a point of appreciating all the bells and whistles the device offers in comparison with the company’s lower-end models.
Also appreciated is that the device is useful in the shower, as well as individual reports of lessened acne, radiant skin, and that it’s just generally fun to use.
One review did mention that, as much as she loved the device, its stand leaves a lot to be desired and complained of water collecting in the bottom, as well as a poor connection with the magnetic charger.
Is Clarisonic Smart Profile a Worthwhile Skin Solution?
Despite the high price tag, Clarisonic Smart Profile reviewers seemed overwhelmingly pleased with their purchases. Also notable is that many reviewers preferred the Smart Profile over their previous Clarisonic purchases.
The Clarisonic brand itself is a reputable company that offers high-quality products and sufficient warranties, just in case buyers get a lemon. There are shipping charges when ordering, but no hidden fees, forced auto-ship sign ups, or reports of poor customer service.
Overall, skin cleansing is also good if you tend to have dry skin that is a result of winter weaather, steamy showers, moisure-robbing soaps, etc. So if you’re looking for an extra special treat for your skin that works from head to toe, the Clarisonic Smart Profile cleansing has reviewers shouting that it’s worth every penny.

Make sure you read and understand everything before making your purchase
I purchased this over a year ago but I rarely use it, still looks brand new on my bathroom counter. I immediately registered my Smart Profile purchase online and I was supposed to get back a $30 refund, which I never received. What I did receive and was charged for a year and a half later was a foundation brush. I spent days reading the reviews before making my $400 purchase, so I sort of rushed through the part where you entered your billing and shipping information. I did not know that I signed up for some "auto pay" program where Clarisonic will send you a brush here and there. I was willing to pay for shipping to send back this foundation brush, but I was told that this was not an option since I had signed up for this. I will NEVER order anything else from Clarisonic and I made sure they removed me from their "auto pay" whatever crap program they got going!
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I'm 59 and I purchased this because my skin looked dull. My skin now has a nice glow. No more dead skin cells! I think this product would benefit anyone. It's very gentle. I have sensitive skin and I've never had a problem with it.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Smart Profile is the best of the Clairsonic devices so far.
I have been using a Clarisonic device for a number of years, and I used it everyday. Then this year on 2/2015 I purchased the Smart Profile and love it even more than the one I had before. It has great features, and it is even more effective in cleaning than the one I had before. If I don't have it with me and use my hands to clean my face, it just doesn't feel as clean as when I use my Clarisonic Smart Profile.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
