About Copper Fit Gel
Copper Fit Gel is a fast-acting roll-on pain reliever gel that’s claimed to instantly work on sore muscles and joints by reducing muscle inflammation and swelling, penetrating and relaxing muscles, and increasing blood flow to sore muscles and joints. Because of this, the manufacturer claims that Copper Fit Gel is ideal for muscles, spasms, painful swelling, sprains, strains, and joint pain.
According to the company, Copper Fit Gel contains only all-natural ingredients, is paraben free, and is made in the USA. In addition, Copper Fit Gel’s pain relief benefits are claimed to be backed by a double blind placebo controlled study (more about this in a moment).
Whether you’re an amateur athlete or just enjoy gardening in your spare time, can you realistically expect Copper Fit Gel to provide you with instant pain relief when you need it? Consider the following:
What’s In Copper Fit Gel?
Unlike other Copper Fit products, such as Copper Fit Socks and Copper Fit Back, which contain copper-infused fibers to prevent the buildup of bacteria, there’s no indication that Copper Fit Gel contains any copper. In fact, there’s no mention on the product’s website of any ingredients it contains, other than that they’re “all natural” and “paraben free.”
In addition, although Copper Fit Gel is claimed to be ”backed by a double blind placebo controlled study,” there are no references to this study on the product’s website (or anywhere else online, for that matter).
Are There Other Roll-On Pain Relievers?
With this said, roll-on pain relievers are nothing new, many of which can be purchased from your local pharmacy or sporting goods store, and are often priced much lower than Copper Fit Gel—especially considering the high, non-refundable S&H charges (more about this in the Pricing section).
And according to Consumer Reports, many of these products contain similar (or in some instances, the exact same) ingredients, including “menthol, camphor, capsaicin (found in chili peppers), and methyl salicylate (oil of wintergreen). Some of the products are claimed to have a heating or cooling effect. The ones with capsicum or methyl salicylate create a feeling of heat, and the ones containing menthol cause a cooling sensation.”
Do You Enjoy Arbitration?
Finally, keep in mind that by placing your order on the Copper Fit Gel website, you’ll be bound to an arbitration agreement, which means your legal rights will be severely limited in the event of damages, including a trial by jury and a class action lawsuit.
Are Customers Rolling Away Their Pain with Copper Fit Gel?
Copper Fit Gel was a very new product at the time of our research (URL registered February 2015) and didn’t have any online customer reviews.
However, the pain reliever is manufactured by Idea Village based out of Wayne, NJ, who is one a the big players in the ASOTV industry. Based on 110 HighYa reader reviews for the company’s related products (as of 3/3/15), including Copper Fit, Copper Fit Socks, and Copper Fit Back, they have an average rating of 2 stars, with common complaints citing poor quality products, failure to work as advertised, unwanted items added to orders, and poor customer service (difficulty processing returns, numerous upsells during calls, etc.).
Despite this, as well as 136 closed complaints with the Better Business Bureau (many of which reference the same issues above), Idea Village held an A rating.
Copper Fit Gel Pricing & Refund Policy
Copper Fit Gel is priced at $14.99 plus $4.99 S&H. You’ll also be able to double the size of your gel at checkout for an additional $9.99, although there’s no indication how big this is, or what the “normal” size is.
Copper Fit Gel comes with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. This means that, even if you only order the standard size, you could lose almost as much in S&H charges as you’ll receive as a refund by the time everything is said and done.
With this in mind, in order to request a refund, you’ll need to contact customer service at 855-818-8300.
Will Copper Fit Gel Provide You with the Pain Relief You Need?
Chopping to the point: Considering the fact that:
- We’re not informed which ingredients Copper Fit Gel contains
- We’re told that it’s backed by a double-blind clinical trial, but not provided any evidence
- You’ll be subject to an arbitration agreement after placing your order, and
- The product comes with high, non-refundable S&H charges
…it’s our opinion that you should check local roll-on pain reliever options before rolling the dice on Copper Fit Gel.
Also, it’s important to reiterate that Copper Fit Gel doesn’t appear to contain any copper, and is just piggybacking off their brand recognition. However, as we mentioned in our recent copperwear article, even if Copper Fit Gel did contain copper, there is insufficient clinical evidence showing that this would provide any kind of additional pain relief.
