What Is Copper Fit Replenish?

The Copper Fit Replenish Recovery Sleepwear product line features a tag-free, non-binding, four-way stretch design, all with the intention to make the clothes more comfortable for sleeping. There are both shirts and pants available, ranging from a list of sizes for men and women (three sizes for men, two for woman). Finally, both the pants and shirts come in two different colors, heather gray and black.

Of course, like other Copper Fit products that we’ve reported on (such as the Copper Fit Tough Knees and Copper Fit Socks), the main selling point of the Copper Fit Replenish line revolves around its copper-infused, ultra-soft material. The clothes are made from a modal/elastane fabric blend, and the infusion is claimed to be able to reduce odors while being worn.

But is this true? And can you truly expect to get a better night’s sleep with the Copper Fit Replenish?

Do the Clothes You Wear Factor Into a Better Night’s Sleep?

Sleep is an essential part of life, and for many of us, not getting a sufficient amount of it at night can have very real consequences on our day, like feeling lethargic, unproductive, and unenergized in general. But did you know that the quality of your sleep is also important?

The main claim made by the makers of Copper Fit Replenish is that wearing the sleepwear will improve your rest, as well as your recovery time, allowing you to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go. Is there any truth to this, though? Does the clothing you choose really matter?

This article from Sleep.org illustrates that being selective in the type of clothes you wear to bed can actually help to regulate your body temperature throughout the night, leading to better quality sleep.

For instance, cotton and silk may be able to keep you cool in the night if you tend to sleep hot, and moisture-wicking fabric may help if you experience night sweats. Heavier fabrics like flannel, wool and fleece may keep you warm, but this may actually lead to overheating if you aren’t careful. Additionally, wool may cause irritation to the skin that has potential to wake you during the night.

At the end of the day, the article states that personal comfort is the most important factor when it comes to considering what you should wear to bed. The more relaxed and comfortable you are overall, the better you can expect your sleep to be.

What does this mean for you? Simply put, if the modal/elastane fabric used in the Copper Fit Replenish line feels comfortable for you, it may indeed be possible for it to deliver on the manufacturer’s promise of better sleep quality and recovery.

Having said that, the only reliable way to know if the fabric will be comfortable for you is by trying it out for yourself, seeing as all of our individual preferences are unique. But what about the copper infusion used within the clothing?

Will the Copper Fit Replenish Copper-Infused Design Lead to Better Sleep?

While the manufacturer claims that the copper-infusion promotes better sleep and faster recovery, authoritative sources such as WebMD, The National Sleep Foundation and The Mayo Clinic do not report any evidence showing that copper can directly affect the quality of your sleep, nor the speed of muscle recovery.

But what about when it comes to odor? According to a clinical study carried out in 2010, copper does indeed fight odors effectively, though an important factor is how much of the metal is included within the fabric; something that we aren’t told by the manufacturer of Copper Fit Replenish.

A second study seems to suggest antimicrobial (read: microorganism inhibiting) benefits to copper as well, so we reached out to customer service to learn more. Unfortunately, after speaking with three different agents, we learned that they had no additional insight on how much copper is included in the fabric blend, nor what specific benefits its inclusion may carry.

There’s more to sleep than just the clothing we choose, of course. What else can promote better sleep alongside a product like the Copper Fit Replenish?

Other Factors For Improving Sleep Quality

According to the National Sleep Foundation, here are a few additional sleep practices that can lead to better quality slumber during the night:

  • Try and stick to a regular bedtime and wake up schedule, even on the weekend. This way, your internal clock will be able to help you fall asleep and stay that way.
  • Consider the amount of sleep you’re getting; adults ages 26-64 need about 7-9 hours of sleep a night to be fully rested and ready for the day.
  • Think about your room temperature, lighting, and noise levels. All of these are crucial to getting good sleep. Pro tip: Keeping your room around 60 to 67 degrees Fahrenheit can even help you fall asleep faster.
  • Practice a relaxing nighttime ritual, such as journaling or meditating. Anything away from bright lights that can help to separate bedtime from the stress of the day can be beneficial.
  • Avoid naps throughout the day, as these can impact your ability to fall asleep later in the evening.
  • Make sure your mattress and pillows are comfortable and supportive.

Copper Fit Replenish vs. Other Sleep Recovery Solutions

There are hundreds, if not thousands of different sleepwear options out there today, both in retail stores and online. As discussed above, choosing an effective option for sleep largely comes down to personal preference, but what about products similar to Copper Fit Replenish?

As it turns out, popular sports brand Under Armour has developed a similar line of sleepwear products in collaboration with Tom Brady. Called Athlete Recovery Sleepwear, similarities to Copper Fit Replenish include a tagless, four-way stretch design that also utilizes a modal/elastane fabric blend.

Instead of a copper infusion, however, the product uses a bioceramic layer to reflect the body's heat back at itself in the form of Far Infrared. According to a 2012 clinical study, blankets made out of bioceramic materials have been reported to increase overall quality of sleep, so it’s possible that these products come with some real benefits.

Those benefits will cost you, however, as the current lineup ranges from $80 to $100, depending on the specific item. Compared to $29.99 for the Copper Fit offering, that’s a fairly large difference.

In general, when searching for the right sleepwear for you, the following factors may help you make the most effective choice:

  • Comfort: This is an obvious but important consideration; in order to get great sleep, you need to be comfortable in the clothing you wear to bed. Consider the type of fabric, as well as how cold or hot it typically gets in your room at night.
  • Breathability: Having a breathable fabric design means staying cool throughout the night, and preventing sweat build up from disturbing you during your rest.
  • Technology: Does the sleepwear advertise a specific technological benefit, and if so, is there any evidence supporting the claims made about the product?
  • Price: Compared to alternatives, is the product priced competitively? Do the features justify the price point based on the above considerations?

Copper Fit Replenish: Our Verdict

Based on everything that we’ve learned about getting better sleep from sources like Sleep.org and the National Sleep Foundation, we’ve established that the Copper Fit Replenish may indeed be able to improve the quality of our rest at night, leading to increased recovery from the previous day’s stresses as well (just not necessarily because of the copper infusion, though the manufacturer never explicitly states that this is the case).

However, we’ve also learned that this largely comes down to personal preference, as whether you find the soft modal/elastane fabric used by the product to be comfortable or not is the most important factor to consider when determining how valuable the sleepwear will be for you in the long run.

Without trying it for ourselves, we have no way to know just how comfortable the Copper Fit Replenish line really is (and we’ve mentioned that this is often subjective, regardless). Fortunately, if you decide to try the products out, you’ll have 30 days to return them for a refund should you decide that they aren’t for you.
