About DuraWallet

DuraWallet, a “paper thin and incredibly strong” wallet made from a single sheet of lightweight and eco-friendly Tyvek, is claimed to feature two inside pockets that easily hold 20 or more bills, as well as two additional credit card pockets that expand to hold 16 or more cards.

In fact, DuraWallet’s manufacturer claims it’s 5X thinner than traditional wallets, all while expanding to hold whatever you need and remaining stain, tear, and water-resistant. DuraWallet is even claimed to block RFID card scanners!

But is DuraWallet as well made as the manufacturer makes it seem? Will it be a good home for your money? Consider the following:

What is Tyvek?

Made by Dupont, Tyvek is “a family of tough, durable spunbonded olefin sheet products that are stronger than paper and more cost-effective and versatile than fabrics. Tyvek® has a higher strength-to-weight ratio than paper, absorbs little or no moisture, is strong and rip-resistant, and is made of environmentally responsible material.”

You’re probably most familiar with Tyvek from seeing it on the exterior of under-construction homes, where it eventually forms a watertight barrier between the siding and framing of a house. However, Tyvek can also be used for protective apparel, sterile and industrial packaging, air cargo covers, as well as products like DuraWallet.

Similar Options to DuraWallet

Next, remember that although DuraWallet’s manufacturer makes the product seem somewhat revolutionary, the truth is that if you’re looking for an eco-friendly wallet, you have hundreds of options from which to choose (and just as many different materials).

Even if you’re only looking for Tyvek wallets, you’ll still have dozens of options, including Dynomighty, Paperwallet, SlimFold, and many more. On top of this, many of these options are less expensive than DuraWallet, especially considering the high, non-refundable S&H charges (more about this in the Pricing section). They can even be customized.

Watch Out for Arbitration

Finally, keep in mind that by placing your order on the DuraWallet website, you’ll be bound by an arbitration agreement. In the event you incur any damages, this means your right to a trial by jury, becoming part of a class action lawsuit, and more will be severely limited.

Few Customer Reviews for DuraWallet

Since writing our original DuraWallet review, 1 HighYa reader provided feedback about their experience with the Tyvek-based wallet, where they claimed, “this wallet is a piece of junk and it poorly made.” As such, they rated DuraWallet 1 star.

Ripoff Report only had 1 DuraWallet complaint listed as well, which also referenced poor quality.

There weren’t any additional online DuraWallet reviews at the time of our research, although we did learn that the product is manufactured by “As Seen on TV” company Plymouth Direct, who also makes Tag Away, Mighty Putty Purple, and BeActive Brace. Among well over 200 HighYa reader reviews for these products, they have an average rating of 2.5 stars, with common complaints citing poor quality and failure to work as advertised.

Plymouth Direct also held an F rating with the Better Business Bureau (as of 6/7/15) based on 143 closed complaints, 11 of which the company failed to respond to. Unfortunately, no complaint details were available.

DuraWallet Pricing & Refund Policy

Two DuraWallets (one black and one brown) are priced at $10 plus $15.90 S&H.

All DuraWallets come with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. Ultimately, this means you could lose twice as much in S&H fees as you’ll receive as a refund after everything is said and done.

With this said, in order to request a refund, you’ll need to contact customer service at 800-340-3418.

Can DuraWallet Replace Your Existing Wallet?

Chopping to the point: Although DuraWallet only had a couple online customer reviews available at the time of our research, based on the close similarities to the complaints for the company’s other products, it appears you might not find its quality to be very high.

As such, we might recommend searching online for other wallets made of Tyvek, which could help you save a good chunk of change on non-refundable S&H charges, and might even help you find something that precisely matches your taste.

I want to warn people not to waste their money. I bought this product on Amazon after seeing the infomercial. After a couple of months, the wallet began to tear and my credit cards would fall all over the place! Just get an aluminum wallet.

    I'm still laughing

This is SUCH a scam. This "wallet" is made of PAPER, like the heavy paper hanging type files are made of. It is NOT any special material. I wanted my $15 back, so I didn't do anything to see how flimsy it was, mostly because I could feel it was just paper. The customer service was, of course, a foreign man who offered $5 off if I'd kept it. I was laughing at how badly they were trying to scam me. I paid $3 in postage to get my money back, and the postmaster said if television brands, or whoever, didn't refund my money, they will be involved in postal fraud. Go on Amazon and get the real deal, and save your effort. Also it took the full six weeks to ship it, when Amazon will have my real one delivered to me in ten days.

This wallet is a piece of junk and it poorly made. If there were a zero star rating, that's what I would give it.
