Waste of time and money

By Lynn, Glasgow, Scotland, Verified Reviewer

An absolute waste of money. Full of profiles with very little information, no photos, etc. Requests to upload a photo are usually ignored. No one replies to any messages or smiles you send. I was matched with a lot of people who wanted to have children (I don't). When I complained, I was told these people were still a good match and your desire to have children or not didn't matter!

If you complain about the lack of photos, you are given a detailed explanation of how to request a photo and if you are stupid.

Save your money!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Waste of money!

By Karen Skal, Butter, PA, Verified Reviewer

Absolutely a scam and a waste of money. My “matches” did not fit my preferences at all and were all in different areas of the US. I “liked” a few profiles and I got no responses. As far as my profile, I relatively got no interest. SAVE your valuable TIME, ENERGY, and MONEY. Elite Singles, like other online “dating sites," preys on decent people’s desires and emotions and has empty promises.

Run!

By Sylvia, United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

Please do not subscribe to this site! After I joined, Elite changed the format of the site, which meant that I could no longer access matches via my iPad. There is no reminder when the subscription ends. I had actually cancelled the card I had paid my initial subscription with, but they still managed to take £197 ($272.86) from my account! I contacted my bank who made a chargeback so had my money refunded. However, this did not go down well with Elite who are now chasing me for the money.

I got a fairly generic response stating I had should have read the Terms and Conditions thoroughly. I have taken consumer advice, and under the Consumer credit act 2015, if Terms and Conditions are considered to be unreasonable (which I would argue no reminder when a massive increase in fees is taken from your account meets these criteria), they may not be enforceable.

Also they are almost impossible to contact. Fax or writing to Germany? Generic email responses? Who are they trying to kid? Under the sale of goods act 1979, if the service is not fit for purpose, you guys may have some redress on that point. AVOID them at all costs. Good luck to all of you trying to get a refund. By the way, only a court order can enforce payment, not threatening emails requesting payments. One star is too much, but there was no zero star option.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Many flaws on this highly recommended sight

By James Kraybill, Jersey Shore, NJ, Verified Reviewer

Ok, where to begin. For starters, I'm 41 and I am single again. I have experienced other online dating sites, and all have their pros and cons, but this one has the most cons.

1. You can't search for what you are actually looking for in a match. They give you these false criteria, which only means the matches they dictate to you on a daily bases. eHarmony does this too; the others at least allow you to search.

2. The search criteria either doesn't work or is a complete lie. The minimum distance can only be less than 50 miles, really? I like how that reviewer above with his 4 stars probably works for Elite Singles says the tough about trying to find your soul mate closer. I live in New Jersey and I don't want 80-90% of my matches from New York and even Philly!

3. I see 50+% of my matches with no photos, so why can the criteria allowed you to only get matches with photos! All the other sites do. I'm starting to suspect they are pulling an Ashley Madison with fake profiles to stock their pond.

4. I like the idea of taking a personality test to get my match and don't mind it taking a long time but why the heck are most of my matches 40-67% compatibility? Am I really that rare of a species? I doubt that. They shouldn't be a match at all!

In reality, I just think this site lacks customers. It's not as well known or as popular as Match or POF, since those sites have more success finding someone local or to your preference. I find Match has the best criteria of all the sites. I like a site that can show you what they prefer, so we don't wast each others time, and this site fails to do this.

Ugh!

By Beth, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I am glad to have read your article. I signed up for a basic membership and am really disappointed. This is all new to me so I will start by saying that it was overwhelming to fill in the forms on Elite Singles. Then when a match was made I was extremely disappointed to find that I couldn't even read the message from the guy who sent it unless I paid for a membership. Ridiculous! How do I even know the match was legit? Anyways, I will take the advice of this article and try a more mainstream approach, or just wait and see if Mr. Right shows up at my local grocery store.

Regret

By Anonymous, Minneapolis, MN, Verified Reviewer

I regret not reading about Elite Singles before I paid $89.00 to join! I do believe this is a scam site. I'm concerned they will continue using my credit card after I cancel. I'm sure someone is laying on the beach after taking all of our money. Please don't let this happen to you too.

Elite, a cut above other UK sites? Don't think so.

By Ewa Larsson, United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

This site is far away from "Elite" as you can get.

I have joined EliteSingles and have paid £149.70 ($194.03) for a six-month premium membership (unlimited communication and intelligent matchmaking - you get what their computer system thinks is suitable). You are not able to search for any matches on your own, take what is given to you and pay for its basis, with no search option what so ever.

This site promised that it has a disproportionate amount of graduate professionals and sophisticated singles, 71% to be precise. Everything about this site would suggest a higher caliber of potential mates, to cut a long story short, (shorter than the 30 minutes it took to fill out a multiple choice personality profile before joining).

Thirty minutes of questions asking questions then to be presented with seven potential matches, none of whom I remotely liked and not in line with what I would look for in a date, and to make matters worse, you can’t specify what you want; it’s all based on your personality and what their algorithm suggests for you.

I was looking forward to meeting sophisticated singles above the average, but my matches were carpenters, builders and truck drivers! These matches I was given I would expect to find on Match.com.

Once you were presented with totally unsuitable matches, you have to wait 24 hours for the next set of potentials to be emailed to you.

By day four they seemed to have run out of men, and I was not given any matches at all.

To add to their choices, they offer you a handful of wildcards each day, but unless you are willing to travel across the country for a date, you can also rule these ones out.

I’d give EliteSingles one star. It’s not Elite, it’s the most expensive at £69.95 (one-month membership Premium Light), and I think totally misleading in its ethos.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Elite Singles - more scam than reality, much more.

By Ronald R Grenadier, Michigan, Verified Reviewer

When researching dating sites, Elite Singles seemed like a step above the other dating sites. Let me begin by saying, BUYER BEWARE.

After joining and receiving a number of potential matches, I started to communicate with several persons who I felt were promising, and who I wanted to talk to.

1. As the matches continued to flow in, I saw the same person, and their profile listed more than once on my profile Matches, but each time from a different city. Upon sending a message to the Match pointing this discrepancy, within 24 hours, that person's profile was erased, along with all my messages to that person. Luckily I saved all my external emails and now know these profiles were a FRAUD.

2. After checking around, it seems there is a command center in the middle of nowhere in Kansas where a paid employee(s) is answering emails on behalf of the profile. As you message, the writing tone of the Match changes indicating different persons are answering here. Further cause for suspicion.

3. And if you write too much, all nice stuff too, their profile is deleted as well. Seems this is the method used by the call center to alleviate their workload.

4. There is no US customer service center phone number where you can call. Only to Germany. Another reason to be cautious.

Got to say I am disappointed, and angry at myself for being so trusting to get scammed the way I did.

Worst dating site ever

By Itisha, Byron Center, MI, Verified Reviewer

Cons: super expensive, match-making logic is pathetic, extremely limited option, and after a few days, the site will display previously contacted people as new.

Overall, it's a scam. The site is out several times in a day.

100% scam - do not waste your time!

By Jacob B, Oakland, CA, Verified Reviewer

I'm a "busy professional" looking for something serious, and I was attracted to this site because it claimed to be geared toward professionals and people looking seriously, etc. Turns out it was a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY, and a horrible introduction to online dating. Here were the problems I had:

1) They let you spend over an hour creating a profile and filling out the personality quiz, only to discover that with a basic account you can in no way communicate with any other user, or even see pictures of other users even if they send you a message.

2) So, as frustrated as I was with that I ended up trying the paid account since they were basically teasing me with messages I couldn't read. So I paid $90 for a 3-month premium account, which I only realized at the end would charge me all at once rather than the $30 a month they advertised.

3) As soon as I started the premium account, I stopped receiving matches. I literally did not receive a single match for 5 days. When I put in a help request, they said my search filters were too strict, which was actually totally untrue. It was a boilerplate response, and they didn't even look at my account (saying most of my criteria were set as "very important," when in fact only one was set as important, which was the distance).

4) After I replied that their advice made no sense, I magically started getting matches again, even though I didn't change a thing. Though, only a couple a day.

5) The matches I did get were totally bogus. Most of them had no picture and very little profile information. Half of them were from other cities and states, even though I had my filter set to within 50 miles (the lowest they go). I mean, hello? The two that seemed real and had pictures and that I actually sent a message to like an idiot turned out to be "inactive" on closer look. Again, a total tease.

6) Meanwhile, I was getting several messages a day from people in other states, people that didn't meet my criteria, people whose profile pictures were obviously from 10 years ago, etc...

7) Every time I sent a help request (which is actually impossible to find on their website and only can be found via the app if you hunt for it) the answer was total not applicable to my issue or helpful in any way.

I don't know what these people are up to, but this is not a dating site. It is a complete SCAM. I did manage to call them and demand a full refund, which I was promised will be processed within 10 business days. We'll see if it comes through...

Do NOT use this site! DO NOT USE THIS SITE. Do NOT let anyone you know use this site!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Nothing "elite" about it

By Megan, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I relocated to Toronto from LA and thought I would give it a try being that I thought I'd be meeting elite men. There is NOTHING elite about them. The matches are not in alignment with who I would ever meet or be interested in real life. They suggest you don't be ridged about your height or age preferences, but then you are matched with a bunch of random, under average looking and blue collar workers.

I wrote customer service an email, requesting a pro-rated email (as they suggest its best to join paying six months in advance) and they replied by saying I had three days to cancel and that they checked each an every one of my matches and they never sent any men over 45. The same day I sent them screenshots of 10 men they suggested over that 45 and told them this is not in alignment with what I'm looking for. No apology and no refund, better to go to the gym, at least you will find men who have better bodies and work out.

I also don't think the men are being true to their age. If so, their diet and skin are terrible and as I stated, nothing elite about them.

A very unpleasant experience.
