If you’ve noticed that your skin isn’t quite what it used to be, ENVYRX claims to be here to help. The product’s website promises that the topical skin care serum can help brighten your face, restoring radiance to your skin and smoothing out the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

The company behind the serum bills it as a natural, injection-free alternative to surgeries and other skin care medical procedures, stating that ENVYRX works naturally to help replenish moisture, restore your youthful glow, and firm up the skin for lasting relief from wrinkles.

Notably, the product claims to impact the production of a protein in the skin called collagen. What is this substance, and what role does it play in our bodies? Let’s find out below.

Understanding How Collagen Affects the Skin

According to a report from WebMD, skin is comprised of multiple layers. Within the dermis, or middle layer of the skin, is collagen, a protein that acts as a barrier between the effects of aging and your skin, warding off wrinkles and providing strength and structure in the process. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the skin, making up about 75 percent of our body’s largest organ.

On the product’s website, ENVYRX claims that while most of its competitors use fragments of hydrolyzed collagen, the breakthrough formula it utilizes relies on whole collagen molecules that are delivered directly to the skin. This certainly sounds good, but is there any scientific merit to the claim?

As it turns out, collagen is a rather large molecule; too large, in fact, to pass through the layers of skin and be absorbed into the dermis, according to an article on SciBlogs. Livestrong and Smartskincare.com both reinforce this concept, illustrating that the topical collagen simply sits on the outer layer of the skin, where any reduction in visible wrinkles is temporary, due to the substance acting similarly to icing on a cake, filling in the wrinkles until it is washed away.

A 1988 clinical study shows that “Even if native collagen could penetrate to the dermis, it is inconceivable that the molecules could form fibers or integrate with existing collagen fibers because the precursors for fiber assembly are soluble procollagen molecules.”

ENVYRX Formula Ingredients

The ingredients included in ENVYRX’s formula weren’t published on the main website when we conducted our research for this overview, so we reached out to customer service for clarification. They provided us an alternate URL that led us to this list of ingredients.

Outside of the emulsifiers, surfactants, preservatives, and emollients that make up the bulk of the list, we’re left with the following three main ingredients:

  • Retinol
  • Ceramide-3
  • Spilanthes Acmella Flower Extract

So, can any of these be expected to help deliver on the product’s primary claims? Let’s look at each one individually in order to find out.

Retinol is one of many types of retinoids, which first came about in the 1970’s as an anti-acne product. According to WebMD, retinoids work by causing skin cells to turn over and die rapidly, paving the way for new cells to grow in their place.

However, the same article goes on to state that many non-prescription products don’t disclose how much of the substance is included in the formula. In general, it also reports that prescription strength retinoid products often contain much more of the substance than non-prescription solutions like ENVYRX.

The Mayo Clinic corroborates this, stating the following: “With nonprescription wrinkle creams, your results, if any, are limited and usually short-lived because these creams contain less of the active ingredients than do prescription creams.”

We aren’t told the concentration amounts of any of the ingredients used in ENVYRX’s formula on the website, so we reached out to customer support, where multiple agents told us that they did not have access to this information.

According to a report by Truth In Aging, ceramides are an important component in retaining and preserving moisture in the skin.

One clinical study carried out in France illustrates support for this claim, showing that the substance does play a role in helping to keep moisture in by reinforcing the natural barriers of the skin. It’s important to note that a lone clinical study doesn’t constitute a proven correlation, but it does at least show that the fatty lipid has a measurably positive effect on skin hydration.

Spilanthes Acmella Flower Extract

This flower is native to parts of Brazil, and has been referred to as a natural Botox alternative by Truth In Aging, who included a link to a clinical study illustrating that 75 percent of participants noticed a smoothing, anti-wrinkle effect after a single day of application.

Outside of this study, however, we did not encounter information supporting or corroborating this claim from authoritative sources such as WebMD, Examine.com, the American Academy of Dermatology, and Drugs.com.

Potential ENVYRX Side Effects

We didn’t encounter any evidence reported by the Mayo Clinic, WebMD, or Examine.com of serious side effects associated with the three ingredients listed above, outside of redness, burning and irritation being possible with any amount of topically-applied retinol. Without having access to specific concentration amounts, however, it’s not possible to fully rule out additional side effects.

Because of this, it’s never a bad idea to consult with your local dermatologist before using a skin cream for the first time. Doing so will allow you to fully understand all of the risks and potential benefits before going “all in” and spending your hard-earned money.

ENVYRX Pricing & Return Policy

ENVYRX is currently available exclusively as a free trial on the manufacturer’s website. Upon checkout, you’ll be asked to pay just $4.97 for a full month’s supply of the skin cream. However, the terms lay out that the date you place this trial order will act as the starting point for the 14-day trial period.

Once this window is up, you’ll be charged the full retail price of $94.97 and automatically enrolled into the company’s autoship program. This means that every 30 days thereafter, you’ll be sent a new bottle of ENVYRX and your credit card will be charged accordingly.

The only way to stop this from happening is to call customer support at 888-312-9095 at least one day before the trial window is over to request a cancellation. You are responsible for paying any shipping costs associated with getting the trial supply back to the company in order to process a refund. Notably, the terms stipulate that returns and refunds after the initial trial period are not accepted.

Notice of Arbitration

Upon making a purchase on the product’s website, you’ll be accepting an arbitration agreement with the company. This means that you will give up your right to a trial by jury should anything go wrong, and it also may impact your ability to file a class-action lawsuit.

How to Purchase a Skincare Product Similar to ENVYRX

Here at HighYa, we’ve reported on dozens of skin care serums in the anti-aging industry at this point–many of which feature similar claims, ingredients, and even websites as ENVYRX.

Additionally, based on our experience reporting on them, we’ve learned that many of these products utilize the same sort of pricing structures used by the makers of ENVYRX. Because of this trend, we’ve learned a few valuable ways to separate reputable, valuable products and companies from those that are offering less-than-stellar solutions to consumers.

For starters, it’s important to realize that cosmetic products like ENVYRX are not regulated by the FDA. What does this mean for you? In essence, as long as companies put a disclaimer somewhere on their website, they can essentially make whatever claims they’d like, without backing any of it up with a single bit of clinical evidence.

Because of this, it’s more important than ever to slow down and consider your purchases carefully before putting your hard-earned money on the line.

Here are some additional tips to help guide you during your search:

  • Always be on the lookout for autoship programs and free trials. Keep in mind, the details of these may not be apparent on the checkout screen; always be sure to read through the terms and conditions thoroughly before entering your credit card information.
  • Consider the ingredients used in the formula carefully. As we did above for ENVYRX, it’s important to always check into each ingredient used in a product’s formula in order to evaluate if they’re been proven effective. Useful authorities for this sort of research include Examine.com, WebMD, Healthline.com, Drugs.com, and the American Academy of Dermatology.
  • Pay attention to what other customers are saying. Often, reading through genuine customer reviews online can give you a much clearer picture of what you can expect from a skin care product. Unfortunately, it can sometimes be difficult to find reviews for certain online-exclusive products, outside of potentially misleading affiliate websites. Ask yourself: would you feel more comfortable purchasing a product that has thousands of detailed reviews on Amazon.com, or one that has no reviews whatsoever?

The Bottom Line: Our Verdict on ENVYRX

Will ENVYRX deliver on its primary claims, rejuvenating your skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles?

As we learned above, retinol, ceramide-3 and Acmella flower extract all feature at least some form of evidence lending support to their roles in keeping skin healthy and hydrated (based on information taken from WebMD, Examine.com, Truth In Aging, and various clinical studies linked to earlier in the ingredients section).

Despite this, we discovered that there are no concentration amounts for these ingredients given on the website, and multiple customer service representatives did not have the information on hand. In addition, we learned that ENVYRX utilizes an autoship program that will end up costing you nearly $95 each month–should you decide not to cancel your membership within the trial window.

As consumers ourselves, we’d find it somewhat difficult to rationalize this ongoing fee whenever we don’t even have a full picture of how much of each ingredient is included in the formula. After all, we learned from WebMD that the amount of ingredients like retinol included in a formula can alter how effectively it is able to treat skin issues like fine lines and wrinkles.

Based on all of the above, we feel that a helpful first step might be to visit with your dermatologist directly to discuss all of your options. This way, you can be certain that you are getting tailored, actionable advice from a trained professional who will hopefully put you on the fast track toward a proven, effective solution that serves you well in the long run.

    ENVYRX is a ripoff!

When you order your trial, you unknowingly sign up for a monthly subscription (fine print), and each small bottle is $90-95. You'll be charged full price unless you cancel within 14 days. You won't realize it until you're charged the first time. Any reputable company does not need to implement these shady tactics. STAY AWAY from ENVYRX at all costs! Don't get ripped off!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Horrible customer service and sneaky language

Do not waste your time or money on ENVYRX. I didn't notice any change in my skin and on the 16th day of using my skin broke out. The "trial" is 14 days but you have to cancel before the 14 days (and return the "trial" product) or they charge you for the "trial" they sent ($97.43). This is a total scam! Do not do it!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
