About EZ Abs
The EZ Abs band promises that it can provide your workout regimen with laser resistance, the same as you would get in a gym, by merely using their fitness device a couple of minutes a day. You can perform a series of exercises with the band, to target the arms, abs, back, and legs.
On the company’s website, they say the band is lightweight and fits inside of a purse. The material is non-slip and sweat-absorbent, and on either side of the band, there are two bars. The bottom bar resembles a stirrup, which you slide each of your feet into, and at the top end of the band, there is another bar that controls with your hands.
With each exercise you perform, you stretch the band both ways, giving you resistance in both directions. The goal of using this workout accessory is to target the core areas of your body while maximizing the effects of your workout.
What Are Some of the Benefits of Using EZ Abs Band
As with most workout accessories that claim to give you the six-pack abs you have been looking for, you’re probably asking yourself “does the EZ Abs band work?” Is just a marketing ploy, or can it, in fact, improve your efforts to get those washboard abs?
According to the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, they suggest using a resistance band can promote better muscle activation. A study was performed comparing the use of only free weights, to free weights with the addition of a rubber resistance band. The results showed that electrical activity was increased by adding resistance bands.
Another study showed the benefits of including a resistance band during a warm-up before athletic training or before a competition. The results showed a significant increase in lower body power, by adding elastic resistance to moderate to high-intensity box squats, during a warm-up.
There is also clinical evidence that suggests the effectiveness of using resistance bands when training those with type 2 diabetes. Of course, this involves the combination of a healthy diet and a change in lifestyle choices.
In our opinion, the positive effects of using a product like EZ Abs can only reach its full potential when combined with a healthy diet and lifestyle. Why? Because even if you have ripped muscles, nobody will see them if they’re covered in a layer of fat from less-than-stellar eating habits.
How Much Does EZ Abs Cost?
The EZ Abs band is only available online at the moment, and you can buy it off of the company’s website. At present, they are offering a buy-one-get-one offer. The cost of the band alone is $19.99 plus another $5.99 for packaging and handling costs. With their current special, for a total of $25.98, they’ll ship you two sets along with P&H, plus state tax where applicable.
Something important to note, for orders sent to Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Alaska, and the US Virgin Islands, a surcharge of $10 will be added to your order. They also mention that they don’t service Quebec from their website at the moment.
Along with all orders, you will also have a 30-day money back guarantee, minus the P&H fee.
EZ Abs vs. Other Resistance Bands
In theory, since EZ Abs uses basic resistance like any other competing band, it makes sense that it should be just as effective in improving the intensity of your ab work or any other core exercise.
To help you make an informed decision before purchasing the EZ Abs band, we’ll compare a few similar products on the market. Each of these products is available for purchase on Amazon and come with a 4.5 user rating.
According to Best Reviews, this particular band is the best band for your buck. It’s available for purchase on Amazon, along with the Amazon’s Choice stamp of approval, and it comes with a stackable set of bands of up to 75 lbs in total.
It comes with an ankle strap, including a door anchor, exercise chart, carry bag, starter guide, and a manufacturer’s lifetime warranty. At the moment, it is advertised for sale on Amazon for $19.99 (originally $26.46), plus free shipping with Prime.
One of the primary comparisons of this product to EZ Abs is the stackable option. Having the choice of starting out with a light tension resistance band and then stacking on additional tensions bands could make Black Mountain more flexible and useful in the long run. It also has a door hinge and a set of instructions.
Another product with the Amazon’s Choice stamp of approval, and similar to Black Mountain, is from Fitness Insanity. It also has five stackable bands of up to 150 lbs, and it has an ankle strap, door anchor, your money back guarantee. You also receive a resistance band workout guide all for a total of $23.97, including free shipping with Amazon Prime.
This band has similar benefits to what Black Mountain offers, with the option of stacking weight. However, it provides almost twice the weight, taking you all the way up to 150 lbs.
The third product we’re mentioning here is a single resistance band, made from Eco-friendly latex, and includes a door anchor, starter guide, and a carrying case. You can purchase additional bands separately, which range from 2-4 lbs up to 70-70 lbs. Prices per band range from $8.00 up to $16.69 each, including free shipping with Amazon Prime.
This product seems to be closer to what EZ Abs offer with the single band option, instead of the stackable choice of the other two products. The main difference is you can purchase additional bands with a higher tension, which could end up more expensive.
Could the EZ Abs Resistance Band Be the Right Tool for You?
One of the main things we were concerned about with the EZ Abs band, is the fact that it only comes in one tension level as opposed to the option of stacking on additional bands. There was also no mention of the current level of tension, so we called customer service to find out. However, after getting through to them, they mentioned that they didn’t know, and weren’t able to provide us with an answer at this point.
We also didn’t find enough evidence on the company's website to back their claim of how you can get amazing results by using the band in as little as two minutes a day. On the other hand, there is significant information on multiple sites such as Healthline and Science Direct that suggest a series of intense exercises such as HIIT fitness, or Tabata, that is done for as little as 5 minutes a day, can rival a 45-minute workout.
Based on what we’ve learned from Healthline and The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, resistance bands are a handy fitness tool that is low cost, portable, and can help you train all the components of fitness and performance. Some of the main benefits include better muscle activation, a reduction of fat mass, improved warm-up for athlete training and pre-competition, and can effectively increase muscle endurance and strength.
Based on the stiff competition – many of which are not only priced lower but also come with more than a thousand customer reviews, the EZ Abs resistance band is a relatively new product on the market, and without having tried it ourselves, it’s not clear whether or not its single-band design can deliver more value.
However, you will have 30 days to try it out before requesting a refund. Keep in mind though that it isn’t a completely risk-free transaction as you’ll lose your initial S&H fee.
