About Fast Mixx Pro
Fast Mixx Pro is a 16oz battery operated vortex drink mixer that promises to help you mix, pour, drink, and store your beverages in seconds, without lumps, clumps, or chunks.
Made from lightweight BPA-free plastic and powered by two AA batteries, Fast Mixx Pro’s one-touch operation will spin the Liqui-Tech Science blade quickly enough to “pulverize and liquefy any powder, mix, or batter instantly,” whether hot or cold.
Then, using the leak-proof top, you can drink right out of the handheld cup. And when the time comes, you can even remove the motor for easy cleaning.
Whether it’s making froth for your coffee or delicious chocolate milk for the kids; mixing medicine or workout shakes, creating salad dressings, or whipping up a meal replacement shake, Fast Mixx Pro seems like it could come in handy in a lot of situations.
But is it the right option for you? Is it really state-of-the-art? Before handing over your money, take a few minutes to read what we learned in our research, and we can help you make a more informed decision.
How Do Vortex Mixers Like Fast Mixx Pro Work?
In most instances, the term ‘vortex mixer’ references a piece of lab equipment.
Here, a motor oscillates liquid inside a container (often a test tube) rapidly in a circular motion. This then creates a “region in which the flow rotates around an axis line”—otherwise known as a vortex—which thoroughly and consistently mixes the fluid.
On the other hand, handheld vortex mixers work much differently, while achieving the same result. Except for their unique blade design, they’re not all that different than a traditional blender.
But it’s this blade that differentiates blenders (sharp blades fashioned for grinding, chopping, and pureeing) from mixers, which generally feature flatter, duller blades intended for mixing, without damaging the ingredients.
Here, we can see that compared to a traditional blender used for grinding or chopping, Fast Mixx Pro’s wide, flat blade helps mix ingredients. Image credit: Tristar Products
Whether using a mixer or a blender, you’ve probably noticed that the faster you spin the blade, the greater the size of the vortex created. Well, Fast Mixx Pro’s blade appears specifically designed to maximize this vortex effect, thereby providing better mixing results.
But is it necessarily a unique product?
Fast Mixx Pro vs. PROMiXX & Other Vortex Mixers
By all appearances, the PROMiXX bottle is the original battery-powered vortex mixer, which was released several years ago and features:
- A high-torque motor that’s capable of spinning the blade at over 12,000RPM
- A leak-proof design that can also be used with hot beverages
- Powered by three AAA batteries
- BPA and DEHP-free construction
- 22oz max capacity w/measurement indicator
- 1-year manufacturer’s warranty
How does Fast Mixx Pro compare? Perhaps other than its button color on the base, Fast Mixx Pro and the original PROMiXX appear to be identical from design and functional perspectives.
Fast Mixx Pro even seems to have mimicked PROMiXX’s X-Blade Technology.
The only minor differences are button colors, and that Fast Mixx Pro only takes two AA batteries and has a 16oz max capacity, versus PROMiXX’s three AAA batteries and 22oz max capacity. Comparatively:
- How fast does Fast Mixx Pro spin?
- Does it feature a measurement indicator?
- Is it dishwasher safe?
- Is there a hole in the lid (other than the mouthpiece) for proper airflow?
To learn more about Fast Mixx Pro’s specific features, we called customer service. Unfortunately, we spoke to four different customer service reps (including one manager) across three different calls, and were told in each instance that they had never heard of the product, or that they didn’t handle it.
Nonetheless, although PROMiXX might be the original, the reality is that many other vortex mixer bottles have entered the market over the years, which also feature many of these same essential design aspects. Popular brands include Cellucor (11,000 RPM motor, 18oz capacity) and Tornado Bottle (20oz capacity).
How do these all of these products compare from a price perspective?
How Much Does Fast Mixx Pro Cost?
One 16oz Fast Mixx Pro vortex bottle will cost you $14.99, plus free S&H.
Comparatively, PROMiXX is priced meaningfully higher at $24.99, while Tornado Bottle is $19.99. Some third-party models could be found for as little as $11.25 elsewhere online.
Unlike PROMiXX, Fast Mixx Pro doesn’t specifically come with a leak-proof guarantee, but it does come with a 60-day money back guarantee, less S&H.
Although the PROMiXX competition comes with a 1-year warranty, without the assistance from anyone in Tristar Product’s customer service, we weren’t able to verify Fast Mixx Pro’s warranty details.
To request a refund, customer support can be reached at 973-287-5100.
Since Fast Mixx Pro seems competitively priced, are customers reporting satisfaction with their purchase?
Can We Learn Anything From Customer Reviews for Products Like Fast Mixx Pro?
Fast Mixx Pro was brand new at the time of our research.
But more than 2,000 Amazon customers had provided feedback for PROMiXX, giving the originator an average rating of 3.9 stars. Most compliments referenced exceptional mixing results, powerful motor, quiet operation, and useful measuring markers.
While there weren’t many complaints, common ones related to no airflow in the lid (making it difficult to drink), that the motor wasn't powerful enough, and less-than-stellar longevity.
Granted, this comes to us from a completely different manufacturer than Fast Mixx Pro, so we’re certainly not saying you’ll experience any of the same.
Speaking of which, Tristar Products is the second largest name in the ASOTV industry, having manufactured recent hits like Clear TV, Genie Cool Bra, and Perfecter Fusion Styler. Most of these come with 2-star or lower average reader feedback, with common complaints citing quality or longevity issues.
Again, it’s important to reiterate that we’re not drawing a relationship between this other feedback and Fast Mixx Pro. Instead, our only purpose is to give you as complete a picture as possible.
Our Final Thoughts About Fast Mixx Pro
While we didn’t test Fast Mixx Pro firsthand, it appears very similar to most of the competition—including the original PROMiXX Vortex Mixer—functionally and design-wise. So, assuming that it performs as well as the original, it seems like it might deliver a better value, since it’s priced $10 less.
However, we think it’s important to keep in mind that Fast Mixx Pro seemed to be a very new product at the time of our research. So new, in fact, that no one we spoke to in Tristar’s customer service department could locate it in their system or answer any questions about it.
Given this, we can’t know if it offers some of the same core features that have led to the original’s high customer feedback, including a 12,000 RPM motor, measuring marks, and a 1-year warranty.
Also, it’s important to reiterate the difference between a blender, which is intended to pulverize ingredients, and a mixer like Fast Mixx Pro. While the latter might certainly be helpful for mixing protein and juice powders, it won’t provide the same intensity as a traditional blender.
Given this fact, you might not expect to save much money versus buying “expensive shakes and smoothies from stores” in all instances.
