Slow progress

I feel that it is taking too long to settle my accounts. I wish they had settled with Discover first. Discover is adding interest and late payments every month. I think they should have dealt with my accounts first and then continued taking my monthly payment to pay for their amount. I thought that is how it works.

Hopeful but not convinced

I resisted turning over my debt to anyone for as long as I could but finally realized I was indeed way over my head for survival.

Freedom has negotiated one settlement on my behalf, and I’m hopeful I can regain stability, however, they will not even negotiate with many of my large creditors until some months have passed and funds built up. I understand they can’t trust my deposits yet based on the fact I’m even using them in the first place, but several of my creditors have requested they at least make an offer and provide some information. I’ve told representatives this several times, and their answer is always the same, they wait until time has passed and funds have built up.

I’m hopeful it will work out, but I wish they would contact the creditors and at least make an offer. The people are knowledgeable and friendly in terms of how they do what they do, so I have to trust that it’s the best way to do it for now. I’ll mark the below option because I suspect the system will force me to but right now, but I cannot say for sure if I’d definitely recommend any such services for anyone else. But if you must make a choice as I felt I had to, then yes, this company appears to be as good as any other right now.

Too soon to tell

I only gave an average rating because it is too soon for me to form an opinion since I just enrolled in the past month. I would be happy to provide a more accurate review once I have been with FDR for a longer time.

I will say that everyone I spoke with over the phone or via email during my enrollment process was thorough, efficient, and helpful. And the dashboard/website is so easy to access and use.

I was nervous about enrolling, and there are many companies to choose from. So far, I have not regretted my decision to go with Freedom Debt Relief.

Waiting on my paperwork

Well, I would love to say something about FDR, but the truth of the matter is that nothing has happened yet as we have just signed up and the first payment has been pulled to the account. So far everyone has been more than helpful to get me going, but that would be all I can say as we have not ascertained any possible payoffs or anything as of yet. It would be more prudent to write a review after about 6-8 months into the program since there would be more to possibly write about. Bottom line is, it is too soon to say anything about anything about this program because it is just getting started. I have not seen it work yet, therefore, it is unfair to ask me if I would or would not refer a friend until I have experienced the program for myself.

Too early for any input

I signed up and made a payment. The second one is due this week. I am still being harnessed by creditors, especially a loan company from California, still paying them, so they don't auto debit my checking account. Hopefully, in a couple of weeks, they'll call them and negotiate some type of deal.

I pray that this program works for me. So far, all I have is calls from creditors and worries. I have already shared this program with others. Some creditors told me that it will take six months to start and that meanwhile, I am adding on late fees and interest charges. That is very disheartening.

Critique of Freedom Debt

I have only experienced Freedom Debt for a month plus. I only find that Freedom does not (as all other similar companies don't) contact the credit card companies promptly. This stall in time allows the credit card company(s) time to add on new late penalties which of course adds more debt to be collected in the future of the contract. Must be looked at!

Hope I made the right decision

I'm new to the program and have mixed feelings at this point. I joined FDR because I was paying for college expenses (still am) for my children when my husband lost his job and remained unemployed for 8 months. A broken pipe that flooded my entire house and damaged property made matters worse. Being the sole provider for my family, it was hard to make ends meet, so I had no choice but to open credit card accounts to cover these expenses.

Even with paying more than the minimum monthly payment on these credit cards, I wasn't seeing any decrease in my debt. I had good credit up to this point, but with the high percentage of credit card utilization, my credit quickly dipped. I needed to do something to fix it, but paying the minimum every month was increasing my debt, not lowering it.

After researching several options, and even taking out a debt consolidation loan, I opted for FDR. I am hopeful that they can help me get rid of this credit card debt. Yet after reading horror story reviews from others who have been in the program for a while, who say they wish they'd never agreed to join, I'm wondering if I made the right decision. I don't want to end up in a worse situation financially than I already am.

I called regarding a suit that is pending on me from Bank of America. I was told that I needed to pay the full amount if I could not pay $6,700 up front. I do not have the money so I ended up signing a contract to pay the full amount by your attorneys. I forgot to ask if you contacted Bank of America before the suit was filed. Did you? I just can't see why this suit was filed against me if you were in contact with them.

High hope

After my mother died my life took a turn for the worse. Seems like everything that could happen was, from the car breaking down to furnace and water heater needing to be replaced. Next thing I know, with life still going on, my debt started to get out of control. As hard as I worked to get my credit score up, I was struggling and worried paycheck by paycheck. I knew it was time for me to do something so I reached out to Freedom. I'm still at the beginning of the program so will see what's next and how it plays out, but I will say I have peace of mind knowing they're on the case.

Nervous

I just started the program in May. I was excited and now my excitement has turned to worry. I have read reviews where people were cheated by FDR. I have also read that people get sued and that TERRIFIES me. I don't have extra money to pay for courts and lawyers. I have called FDR about my concerns and they have told me that I can opt-out if I want to for a full refund. I don't know what to do at this point. I'm scared, worried and I feel alone. I am a single mom and I'm just trying to make ends meet.

I read that your credit takes a hit and the rep for FDR told me that after the settlements that your score will go up. But now I read that it can take 7 years for your credit to return to normal.

The people at FDR have been kind and have helped me so far. But I just don't know how the long term is going to be and that is what makes me even more nervous.

I’ve only been in Freedom Debt Relief for 1 month. A $5,000.00 deposit was made to my FDR Account by my significant other Craig Woodley. I’m waiting for at least the 1st settlement before another lump sum deposit is made. At age 56 the electronic way that things are done with FDR can be a bit maddening.

Outstanding business concept, mediocre client interface

FDR has an outstanding business concept. So the big picture is positive, it's the little stuff I give less than a positive review. I am quite disappointed in the mediocre client interface. It does not compute for a 2000 employee company in business since 2002. Four examples:

(1) An input error, likely me, was made on the Dashboard. FDR Customer Services were friendly, but they cannot fix errors, email requests were the same. They are sweet people, but little provide little action and useless boilerplate. For example, how can one enter a payment date if one has never made a payment?

(2) FDR has an ambiguous Dashboard. For example, 'Action Needed' is misleading. This is for FDR action, not for client action. FDR states fees and they state fees come after debt settlement. Which is true?

(3) FDR literature is slick. It reads and looks great but it doesn't really say anything. How about more qualitative client statistics after 18 years of experience, if FDR legally can't make promises? What is my 'Order Number'? Maybe I missed it somewhere. It's not on my Dashboard and my email.

(4) Customer Service personnel are nice but are not empowered to do much. Customer Service made well-intended promises but in hindsight, they are not effective in correcting Dashboard errors.
