About Genie Slimmers
Endorsed by former HSN host Stella Riches, Genie Slimmers claims to be sheer leggings made of run-resistant, super smooth Silkon that instantly slim your tummy, butt, back, and legs, and make you look up to 10 pounds slimmer. In addition, Genie Slimmers’ convertible toes means that you can wear them in 3 different ways:
- With closed toe shoes.
- Tuck the front portion under your feet to wear with open toe shoes.
- Pull Genie Slimmers up to your ankles and wear them as capris.
When compared to traditional pantyhose, Genie Slimmers is claimed to feature a special no-roll waistband that stays securely in place, and the material is breathable for all-day comfort.
Before placing your order though, consider the following:
Walking with the Top Down
While Genie Slimmers’ convertible toe is unique and might turn out to be a fantastic idea, we have to wonder how comfortable walking on a wad of fabric all day would be. Granted, Genie Slimmers’ fabric appears fairly thin, but think about how annoying a crease in your sock can be when wearing tennis shoes, and then magnify this feeling by wearing tight-fitting shoes.
Will the Real Silkon Please Stand Up?
We watched the Genie Slimmers commercial repeatedly in order to discern what fabric Stella Riches was talking about. Did she say Silthon? Silfon? After several unsuccessful searches, the closest we could come to finding a match was Silkon, which “has many of the qualities of silk, such as a supple drape but it is very strong and resistant to fraying.”
With this said, Silkon’s primary use appears to be related to beading, so we’re not 100% certain.
Going at it Alone
Genie Slimmers is a newer product (trademark filed June 2014), so there weren’t any online reviews available at the time of our research. This means that if you decide to purchase the leggings, you won’t be able to gauge satisfaction levels before handing over your hard-earned money.
Genie Slimmers Pricing & Refund Policy
Genie Slimmers is available in sizes S-2X, and is priced at $10 plus $6.99 S&H. For this price, you’ll receive one pair in nude, and another pair of the same size in black.
Note: When you’re checking out, the ordering page will ask “How many sets would you like?” Keep in mind that this isn’t referencing the number of Genie Slimmers you’d like, but sets (e.g. 2 packages of 2 Genie Slimmers each). Otherwise, if you’re not paying attention, you could end up spending a lot more money than originally intended.
There isn’t a refund policy listed on the Genie Slimmers website, so we contacted customer service at (973) 287-5188, and were told that the product wasn’t listed in the system. However, nearly all ASOTV products come with 30-day refund policies, less S&H charges, although you may want to re-contact the company to verify this prior to placing your order.
Bottom Line: Should You Buy Genie Slimmers?
While there aren’t any online customer reviews available for Genie Slimmers, the manufacturer, Tristar Products based out of Fairfield, NJ, makes a variety of very popular “As Seen on TV” products, including ClearTV, Perfecter Fusion Styler, Power Pressure Cooker XL, and many more. Based on hundreds of HighYa customer reviews for these products, you might end up loving your purchase, or you might find they don’t work as advertised, or that they’re poorly constructed. And if you decide to process a return, you may have a frustrating customer service experience.
