I LOVE my Gotham Steel Pans

By Sylvia Stewart, Houston, TX, Verified Reviewer

First of all, you need to know I am a retired Home Economics teacher who has taught over 10,000 teens with most of them having learned sanitation and safety as well as management skills in cooking.

I am totally pleased with my Gotham Steel cookware and bought it specifically because of the ease of handling weight-wise. I have had polio as a child and found other cookware when full of product to be difficult to lift at this point in my life. I love the ease of cleaning the product and the way it looks. I never have cooked foods at high temperatures, especially protein-high foods which come from my farm background where something was always simmering on the back burner of my mother's very active kitchen.

I hope the naysayers of the review community will look at their basic cooking habits to see if they perhaps misused the cookware they now hate. Sometimes we carry old habits over to new situations. I hope you all have fun in the kitchen and leave it cleaned up for the next cooking experience.

I love it!

By Reggies Mom, Lake Worth, FL, Verified Reviewer

I have had this pan for almost one year and have had a slight problem only once. I probably had the heat too high. If you read the instructions, it plainly states that you should not use nonstick sprays and only use butter and olive oil over low heat. I even bought one for a friend and just bought myself the pasta pot. Excellent product.

Best I have ever used

By Roberta Seabolt, Aiken, SC, Verified Reviewer

I researched all the copper pans in my store, and all but Gotham Steele suggested using non-metal utensils. Gotham said their pan is non-stick and you can use metal utensils. My husband has ruined every other non-stick pan I have by using forks on them when cooking.

I started out with the small skillet to see for myself if it was all it is cracked up to be. To my delight, it is everything they said. I didn't buy it to fry eggs without oil, grease, and butter because I want the added flavor. I have had my pan for almost a year. I have never used non-metal utensils in it, but I like the option to use them. There was only one time something stuck, and it was my fault because I didn't watch it and the food burned, but it was easy to clean with a little more elbow grease than usual.

I love it so much I just got through ordering the 12" skillet with "free" lid. All those bad reviews must be from people who cook at higher heat and don't use oil, grease or butter. Love it, love it, love it!

Has become my "go to fry pan."

By Mary Murphy, New York, Verified Reviewer

I bought this saute pan in BJ's at the Jersey Shore because the rental had a scuffed non-usable Teflon pan. I didn't expect much of it at the time. It was basically an emergency purchase.

What a surprise. I use it all the time now, replacing my Teflon coated pans.

I use a spritz of Pam and keep the flame low to medium. It cleans up beautifully. I do not put it in the dishwasher; there is no need to. It cleans easier than a plate and still looks new, although I use it every day. I also use non-scuffing utensils, regardless of what the instructions state.

Works fine, if you know how to cook!

By Wiiliam, Essex, MD, Verified Reviewer

I've used my 9" about a dozen times for scrambled eggs, and if you use medium heat, it works great. Do not full blast your food or you'll be one of the reviews that post 1 star and calling a piece of crap. Happy cooking, can't cook everything on HIGH HEAT! Turn your flame down. Too many people cook on SUPER FLAME!

I am a happy cooker with Gothan Steel. Somebody finally got the nonstick right. Ignore the bad posts.

Gotham Pans

By Ted, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I purchased my first pan about a year ago and had gotten a lot more since. I don't know what some of these people are doing, but I never had anything stick. And, even when it did a bit, I always wiped it out with a paper towel, then a quick rinse with soapy water. I sear steaks on it all the time, and never have issues. For those who somehow managed to scratch it, maybe take some cooking lessons, or learn how to use pans. If I scratch Teflon even the slightest bit, it gets tossed because that's the last thing I want going into my food.

Amazing product

By Doreen Merke, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I first purchased two of the smaller frying pans because I thought they were beautiful. I loved the color and style. I was a little skeptical at first about not having to use oil or butter to cook with. I do my best to promote a healthier way of eating by cooking with less oils and fats, and this product would be awesome if it actually worked. I couldn't wait to try cooking in them.

My first test was cooking an egg. Love at first sight. Eggs, cheese, refried beans...love, love, love this product. The stay cool handles are also a plus. Since my first purchase, I have now acquired the largest to the smallest of all of their fry pans (a total of six I believe), as well as their square skillet, which is great for pancakes, gooey stuffed french toast, and more.

Exceptionally easy cleaning and beautiful to look at. I am not sure if I have purchased all of their products, but I will certainly keep looking for it as well as recommending this amazing product to friends and family.

Cookie trays

By Cathy Matrisotto, Sikeston, MO, Verified Reviewer

I purchased the Gotham Steel cookie tray on a "2 for 1" offer. I have used these to bake cookies and I love them. My oatmeal raisin cookies would start sticking on my other non-stick trays after a number of batches in the oven. Nothing sticks to these trays.

They are also easy to wash by hand (I don’t put them in the dishwasher).

Cookie sheet and fry pan

By Hazel E Peterson, Wisconsin, Verified Reviewer

I purchased a fry pan several months ago and simply love it. I purchased the cookie sheet just before Christmas, and the first thing I made in it was my Pumpkin Bars. They have never baked so evenly, and I was so impressed. I made a lot of cookies at Christmas and had no problem with sticking.

My only disappointment with the fry pan is that it did not include a lid. People need to understand that the instructions do say to season your pan before using and to season it on a regular basis. Treat it as if it was cast iron. As for the bottom of the pan, every now and then I will notice a little yellow on it and simply use a little soap and water, and it comes right off. My fry pan still looks like new, and I am looking forward to purchasing more pans in the very near future.

Works great

By Jeannette Hancock, Georgia, Verified Reviewer

I purchased the omelet pan online and got the second one free. Although I have not tried purposely to burn anything to see if it slides off, I did, however, get caught up with the kids while cooking round steak (no oil, butter or additive of any kind), burnt the meat, and when I got in there I dumped the burnt meat and wiped out the pan. No damages to the coating or the pan. I cooked four eggs at a time in this skillet (added butter because I like my eggs cooked in butter) and all turned easily and came out great, no busted yokes. I have purchased one for my daughter and will continue to try the different products they offer.

Season them twice a year

By Paul Bogenrief, Newport Beach, CA, Verified Reviewer

A lot of folks say these pans don't remain non-stick after a few uses. I have not had this experience. Why? Because the instructions that come with the pans say you should season them at least twice a year, as follows: 1) rub cooking oil around the inside of the pan, 2) put the pans in a 300° F oven for 20 minutes, 3) remove from oven and allow to completely cool, 4) wipe any excess oil off the pan. If you do this and are careful not to scratch the pans, they should retain their non-stick qualities.
