About Hot Shaper

Hot Shaper is a new waist training belt that’s claimed to help you hide your belly, support your back and posture, burn more calories, and instantly look up to 2 sizes slimmer, while giving you a perfect hourglass shape.

In order to accomplish this, Hot Shaper’s Neotex Smart Fabric features an inner layer that’s claimed to increase heat with skin contact, while the absorbent outer layer is claimed to “sweat away the calories” and keep you dry. In fact, Hot Shaper is claimed to help 87% of users burn more calories when doing the same workouts.

On top of this, Hot Shaper is claimed to be so comfortable that you can wear it over or under your clothes.

So what’s the deal with Hot Shaper? Can it really help you burn more calories while giving you a perfect hourglass figure? Consider the following:

Will Hot Shaper Help You Burn More Calories?

In short, no. Despite this, many other waist trainers also claim to help you burn calories, including Tummy Tuck Belt, Xtreme Power Belt, and more.

To explain, while the compression provided by Hot Shaper (more about this next) might help conceal some of your belly bulges, the reality is that “people who use devices such as waist trimmers and rubber sauna suits to help them sweat excessively during workouts are losing water weight, but not burning more calories to lose fat. As you sweat, your body loses a slight amount of weight due to the water it loses, but this type of weight loss is neither long-term nor effective. As soon as you consume water or another beverage after your workout, any weight you've happened to lose through sweat is quickly restored.”

With this said, there was a disclaimer posted at the bottom of Hot Shaper’s website that read, “Hot Shaper users followed the Hot Shaper reduced-calorie eating plan and did a cardio workout regularly. *RSI - International Research Services , October 2013.”

Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that this study is available online, or directly through International Research Services’s website.

Potential Hot Shaper Side Effects

Despite the fact that Hot Shaper probably won’t do much more than temporarily flatten your belly, these types of compression belts and waist trainers can cause some real harm. This is because too-tight waist trainers can lead to:

  • Compressed lungs, which can lead to breathing problems (especially if you’re working out intensely), and even rib damage.
  • This reduced oxygen intake can even slow down your metabolism, making it more difficult to burn calories.
  • Acid reflux, since your stomach can be pushed up beyond your diaphragm.
  • Abdominal pain due to bowel constriction, which can also lead to constipation.

Granted, compared to many of the other waist trainers we’ve reviewed here at HighYa, it doesn’t appear that Hot Shaper is adjustable, so making it too tight may not be an option. However, unless it fits you perfectly, this could also come with its own set of drawbacks.

What is Neotex Smart Fabric?

Outside of websites directly related to Hot Shaper, there wasn’t any additional information online about Neotex Smart Fabric. Because of this, it’s our opinion that’s it’s essentially just a neoprene sleeve, which the manufacturer has named for marketing purposes.

Whatever you call it though, while this neoprene might make you sweat, it won’t necessarily help you lose weight or shed inches.

Speaking of which, we find it hard to believe that Hot Shaper could comfortably be worn on the outside of your clothes, since you’ll almost certainly sweat through them quickly.

Are Customers Talking about Hot Shaper?

Hot Shaper was a very new product at the time of our research (URL registered June 2015) and didn’t have any online customer reviews available.

However, Hot Shaper is manufactured by Tristar Products, one of the largest companies in the “As Seen on TV” industry. As such, the company makes a variety of popular ASOTV products, including Perfecter Fusion Styler, Power Pressure Cooker XL, and Flex-Able Hose.

Among more than 530 HighYa reader reviews for these products, they had an average rating of 1.5 stars, with common complaints citing failure to work as advertised, poor quality, and difficult customer service experiences.

Granted, you may not experience the same with Hot Shaper, although it’s certainly something worth keeping in mind.

Hot Shaper Pricing & Refund Policy

Two Hot Shaper belts, one black and one nude, are priced at $19.99 plus $15.98 S&H. Hot Shaper is available in sizes S-3X, so sure to check the size chart before ordering.

With your order, you’ll also receive the Hot Shaper Nutrition and Fitness plans.

Hot Shaper comes with a 60-day refund policy, less S&H charges. This means that by the time you ship the product back to the manufacturer, you might lose more in S&H charges than you’ll receive as a refund.

With this said, in order to request a refund, you’ll need to contact customer service at 973-287-5171.

Is Hot Shaper Your Ticket to a Slimmer Waist?

Like any other waist training belt, Hot Shaper may help you temporarily look slimmer by constricting your waist and moving your fat around, it almost certainly won’t help you burn more calories or shed inches. Instead, the only way to accomplish this is through eating healthy and exercising regularly.

Considering this, as well as the product’s high, non-refundable S&H charges, we might recommend searching for local options if you’re thinking about trying a waist trainer on for size.

Sizing is off, maybe credit card fraud

I ordered from Ashley and was informed I will be receiving this from Florida. When I actually tracked my shipment at the beginning, it was coming from China. Also, I usually wear an XL, I ordered a 2XL, and it was way too small. I would need to order a 6XL in order for it to fit me (this also informed me it was from China). Also, a week or two after a made this purchase, my credit card was used for fraud.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

They will send you a debt collector years later

I purchased a pair of pants in 2014. I received a call three years later from "collections department" saying that I didn't pay for another package that I never ordered nor received. Since I am an attorney, I was able to fend off the woman scammer, but she was so aggravated and angry, she didn't get to me. Then she called me back and left a threatening voicemail saying that I need it to go with my attorney to the "Miami Florida Court." Be really careful with them or simply don't buy from them.

Hello, my mother also has received calls saying she owes money for the Hot Shapers "package" and that we need to sign some papers or go to court. I'm not sure if it's a scammer or not. What should I do?

I also purchase the pants and the waist Shaper's back 2015. Last Friday (09/08/2017), I recorded a threatening call from a collection department saying that they mailed the creams that need to be used with the shapers, but since I was not present to receive the package they returned back to them.

So, now they are asking me to pay for the shipping for something I know for a fact, I did not order. They are asking me to go to Miami, Florida to court and if I do not show up they will send a police officer. I never got a letter in the last two years. I asked "why all of the sudden I am being told a letter is being mailed to report to the court" and she hung up.

Is this a scam? What can I do? I will never recommend this product, it does not work.

Last Monday on 12/4/17 I got the same call from collections telling me that I owe them over $650 for a package I never got. They told me the same thing that they got it back since I was not home when they delivered it back in 2015. The collection people that call are very rude and start threatening people when you tell them you were never contacted before this call. They also tell you they will send the police to your house the following week.

I received a call today from a rep saying that I owed $600.00 and that they shipped some creams, which I never received. They told me that I needed to get a lawyer or that I would be taken to the collection, and that their office is in Florida. She told me that the package of two creams was sent after was left, and they also left a notice on my door that I had to pick it up at the mail, but I never got this. Is this a scam, or should I get a lawyer?

I got a call today that I'm scheduled to be arrested and taken to a prison in California, and then wait until August 23, 2018, if I don't settle my bill today. I was called two months ago by collections with a rude woman on the other end saying you will get what you deserve! Is this scam, it was scary.

    Definitely waste of money

It makes you sweat and also helps. I'd have lower back ache, and unfortunately, this material does not last; it all falls apart after a few uses. All and all, I wouldn't waste your money. But if you don't want to take my word, go on Wish; they sell it for a lot cheaper, but you just have to wait longer.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Hot Shaper waist trimmer for women

It is very comfortable, I even wore mine to bed and could feel the sweat in the morning. I went to the gym and did a mild workout, and when I came home, the inside was completely drenched in sweat. I'm going to do this every day for a month and post back.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
