Packed with eight billion colony-forming units per dose, Innovia’s premium Nectar Probiotic microshots promise to deliver a unique blend of botanical extracts, vitamins, and nutrients in a synergistic liquid blend.

Compared to the competition, though, the dietary supplement’s patented multi-functional cap is said to use an “alu-blister” that separates sensitive powders and active liquids until the time of use. Therefore, this isolates the live probiotic cells from humidity and guarantees stability and viability, without refrigeration.

Together, the website reports that Innovia’s research-backed microshots will help you “enjoy a probiotic experience as sublime as only nectar can be.”

Once you’ve paid and have the liquid supplement in your hands, though, will you experience any better benefits? In other words, will you find it fresher than the competition, as claimed on the website? During your research, is there anything else you should consider?

Give us a few minutes, and we'll help you make a more empowered decision about Innovia Nectar Probiotic.

What Are Probiotics & What Benefits Might They Provide?

In How Probiotics Work, we explain that the beneficial bacteria strains contained in these supplements are naturally found in our digestive tract.

However, due to reasons like illness, a recent round of antibiotics, excessive stress, and a poor diet (to name just a few), the ‘bad’ bacteria in our gut can outnumber the ‘good,’ leading to side effects like bloating, gassiness, less-than-stellar immune function, and even weight gain.

As a result, taking one of these supplements on a regular basis—whether Innovia Nectar or another formulation—has been shown to provide benefits like bloating, gas, poor digestion, constipation, address irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and even reduce instances of allergic reaction.

Which bacteria strains are found in Innovia Nectar? We’ll take a closer look next.

What Ingredients Are Found In Innovia’s Nectar Digestion Probiotic Formula?

According to the supplement facts label listed on Innovia’s site, their Digestion Nectar formula contains:

  • Calories 10
  • Sodium 15 mg
  • Potassium 25 mg
  • Total Carbohydrate 2 g
    • Sugars 2 g
  • Vitamin D 400 IU
  • Organic Inner Leaf Aloe 500 mg
  • Curcumin Rhizome Extract 50 mg
  • Lactobacillus paracasei CNCM I-1572 (LP-DG) 8 billion CFU

Other ingredients include purified water, fructose, mango flavor, citric acid, xanthan gum, potassium sorbate, and sodium benzoate.

According to sites like WebMD, Examine.com, and the Natural Medicines Database, taking aloe by mouth (no dosage listed) may help reduce constipation, while curcumin has been shown to help reduce high cholesterol, although neither was listed as having any digestion-related benefits.

Lactobacillus is a genus (similar to a family) of bacteria commonly found in probiotic supplements, as is the paracasei species. In this instance, the CNCM I-1572 designation references a specific strain that may be especially useful for addressing IBS. In another study, the strain was also found to impact some aspects of diverticular disease (DD).

However, we didn’t find a large volume of clinical support on any of these sites for Innovia’s claim that the strain has been “proven especially effective in improving GI conditions by restoring and maintaining the intestinal flora affected by dietary imbalances and antibiotic therapies.”

Could Nectar Probiotic’s Ingredients Cause Any Side Effects?

The Innovia website tells us that taking one microshot per day of the Nectar Digestion formula is safe for the whole family—or, at least for members over the age of four.

With this said, we learned when writing The Side Effects of Probiotics that the most commonly reported are mild gas and bloating, which should subside over the course of two to three days. Despite this relative mildness, it’s always a good idea to speak with your doctor before taking any new dietary supplement, probiotics or otherwise.

Finally, these same authoritative sites report that aloe can sometimes lead to diarrhea, although—again—no specific circumstances or dosages were noted.

How Much Do Innovia Nectar Probiotic Microshots Cost?

If purchased directly through Innovia, there are two ways to get your hands on their Digestion Nectar formula:

A ‘free’ trial, where customers will pay a $3 S&H charge. However, no additional information was provided on the website about important details like how long this trial lasts and what occurs once it ends. We reached out to customer service, but hadn’t received a response as of publishing.

The other option is to pay $24.99 for a 12-shot box, along with $3 S&H. All orders for two or more bottles include free shipping.

Customers can also opt for a monthly subscription and only pay $23.99 per bottle, which can be customized or canceled at any time.

All products come with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H, which will require proof of receipt. Also, keep in mind that per their site’s refund page, “To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.”

To edit your subscription or request a refund, customer support can be reached at (855) 527-2366, info@innoviaprobiotics.com, or via their site’s contact form.

What Can We Learn From Online Customer Reviews For Innovia Nectar Probiotic Microshots?

The only site we encountered any online customer feedback for Innovia’s Digestion Probiotic was on Amazon, where two customers had given it a five-star rating. One reported that it tasted great, and the other emphasized that it's a "great product," but didn't provide any specifics.

From a manufacturer perspective, Innovia’s products are sold by SOFAR Americas, an Italian company originally founded by Dr. Alfonso Labruzzo more than 45 years ago that makes a variety of dietary supplements. This includes several other probiotic formulations that include L. casei LG.

Are There Other Liquid Probiotic Formulas Like Innovia Nectar?

Because of the clinical support for the potential benefits of probiotic supplementation in general, the market has exploded over the last several years to include not just capsules and tablets, but also yogurt (and many other dairy foods), drinks, lozenges, and even gum. How to choose the right one?

As we outline in A Guide to Buying Quality Probiotics, the first person you’ll want to speak with is your doctor, who can recommend whether or not a probiotic supplement is a valuable use of money, based on your specific diagnosis.

If they give you the go-ahead, you’ll want to focus mainly on the manufacturer: Do they cram a bunch of extra, unnecessary ingredients in their formulation? Do they list all the probiotics contained in their formula? What about potency (CFU)?

WebMD seconds much of this when writing, “Make sure that the company lists the genus, species, and strain on the bottle,” along with the number of organisms (colony-forming units), the dose, and the manufacturer name and contact information.

What about the number of bacteria strains? Will you get better results from a different formulation that contains a mix?

ConsumerLab indicates that, “Some research suggests that it may be more effective to take a probiotic supplement that contains a mix of bacterial strains, rather than a single bacterial species. Conversely, it is possible that some combinations of strains may not work well together, affecting the ability of the organisms to remain viable.”

Finally, we’ve learned during our research that customers won’t necessarily achieve better results with an expensive probiotic, compared to a competitively priced one.

What does this mean regarding your future with Innovia Nectar Probiotic?

The Bottom Line About Innovia Nectar Probiotic

While we didn’t encounter any other liquid probiotic supplements that used the same “alu-blisters” as Innovia’s Digestion Nectar, the company also didn’t provide any evidence on their website that this technology will deliver more live cells to your digestive tract. Or, even then, that this will necessarily improve your results over competing probiotic formulas.

Speaking of competitors, searching online marketplaces like Google Shopping, Amazon, and Walmart.com, we found some encapsulated supplements (some also containing billions of individual cells) sold for less than $0.10 per dose at the time of our research, compared to Innovia’s $2.08 per-dose cost.

With this said, the company seems to stand behind their Nectar Probiotic with a 30-day refund policy, although you’ll lose the ability to request one as soon as you give a bottle a try.

I am a skeptic when it comes to probiotics. I must have tried at least 10 different brands in the last 5 years.

I have suffered with a sensitive stomach and a terrible case of Candida.

I recently went to Italy and came down with pneumonia. I have prescribed a strong antibiotic as well as other medicine. When my husband went to the pharmacy to fill the prescriptions the pharmacist recommended I take a micro shot antibiotic.

To my surprise, not only did I not suffer stomach issues from the medicine, my Candida seemed to get under control. My tongue for the first time in years was clear.

As soon as I got to the states I tried to buy these micro shots but no one had them. So I searched for an equivalent.

I found your Nectar which sounded similar. The ingredients weren’t exactly the same but I was desperate. So I purchased it.

I am thrilled to say it works. I have a clear tongue and my ankle swelling has not come back.

It is expensive but worth it.

    Thank you!

    Great product despite vague information

I have been having digestion issues for the past month, and I was on a probiotic pill supplement that I noticed a small difference in regards to my digestion. I tried the free sample pack of Innovia and then ended up buying a couple more, and I'm not sure if it was solely the works of this probiotic, but within three days almost all my digestion problems have been greatly reduced! I mean the symptoms I was experiencing was unbearable to the point where I lost excessive amounts of weight and only ate about 200 calories a day because I couldn't stomach more. I'm back up to eating close to 1000 calories a day with little to no discomfort digestion wise. I will say that it does give you a bit of gas with the first couple of doses, but the pros outweigh that small con by a longshot. I would definitely recommend it, and I currently have a larger 24 pack being shipped to my house as we speak!
