No customer service, no contact

By Debra G., Idaho Springs, CO, Verified Reviewer

I have been with Ipsy for about a year now. While their glam bag has arrived every month, I was suddenly charged a year's subscription of $127.02 that I was not expecting and did not authorize. No way to contact the company, every email comes back as undeliverable, no phone number either.

I have to report it as a fraud through my bank because I cannot get a response from the company.

So disappointed!

Unable to call company or talk to live person to cancel membership

By Joan P., San Diego, CA, Verified Reviewer

I started membership on 5/29/2019 for $10 GLAM BAG. I like the glam bag but they upped the price. I can't afford to pay for a year in advance. I'm a senior on a limited income and can't afford any longer. The customer support phone 1-888-769-4526 not in service. I can't access my account online because I don't know my user name so even if I reset my password I still can't get into account because it depends on user name being correct. Also the online instructions are long and convoluted. It makes me feel like somebody deliberately makes it next to impossible to stop my membership and I am stuck. So now it looks like my only option is a stop payment at my bank which will cost me money which I can't afford. Please, someone, phone me to fix this now.

Worst product service ever - SCAM!

By Bella Q., Leawood, KS, Verified Reviewer

I got the plus bag - supposed to be more products. Got it and WORST BAG EVER! It sent me items I told them NOT TO SEND ME! It sent me colors too dark and anti-aging products. I am only 18 and don't need that. Worst service too. Won't respond to any emails of any kind or ever a message! I canceled right away when I got the bag in the mail! DO NOT USE THEM - THEY ARE A SCAM!

They will not cancel my subscription and keep charging!

By Kacee C. , Mesa, AZ

I hate this company, you can't get ahold of a person. For 4 months, the computer says, "can't cancel subscription," they just keep charging my card. I'm suing.

Worst service

By Shonna B. , Fort Worth, TX

I sighed up for this monthly goodie bag because I heard from others about how fun it is to receive all the goodies. Well, not in this case. I get the same bag each month with the same facial wipes and the same hand lotion. If I want anything extra I have to pay for it on top of the regular fee. This has truly been the worst experience in receiving a goodie bag. So I wanted to cancel but I can’t call them since they don’t have a customer service phone line. I can see why. I would NOT recommend doing this service, maybe other companies are better.

Not age-appropriate

By Karol H., Mississippi, Verified Reviewer

I’m over 60 years old and filled out my preferences. Each bag I received was not age-appropriate or based on my preferences. I don’t like eyeshadow but got one in at least every other bag. I got neon nail polishes that I would never wear.

Length of Use: 6–12 months

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Shipping was timely

Bags are nice

Not age-appropriate

They do not go based on preferences

No phone number to contact and customer service is by text, which keeps repeating

They will rip you off

By Kathleen R., Flintstone, GA, Verified Reviewer

I was ordering a glam bag subscription that is $13.00 a month and was charged for a glam bag plus for $30.00 a month. When I contacted customer service to resolve the issue I was told that there was nothing they could do. I canceled the subscription but am still out the money.

Total ripoff

By Amanda B., Grafting, WV, Verified Reviewer

I changed my subscription to every other month and was still charged every month. Customer service didn’t respond so I canceled my subscription. The next month, I was charged again. I asked customer service for a refund because I was charged for two bags I didn’t receive and they told me I still had a subscription even though nothing showed when I looked at my account. They refused to give a refund and I still have not received those bags.

Disappointed

By Diane, Washington, Verified Reviewer

When I first joined the Ipsy craze, I was excited and couldn't wait for my first bag. Then after a number of months, my excitement faded to disappointment.

Most of the products were great, not all, but most. The problem was that I was being sent the same type of product over and over again, every month. I even went into my account on their site and changed my preferences, hoping to get different types of products. But that didn't happen. Now, the $10 was a great price, but a girl can only use so many eyeliners and lip glosses.

I am looking at finding a different company to try that provides the same type of thing but in a different fashion. One that sends different items every month, or every couple months, so I can see what I like or do not like before buying.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Go to Birchbox, you can't compare the quality

By Donna, San Diego, CA, Verified Reviewer

The problem with Ipsy is that they're trying to sell to mainstream people with products they appear to think are ultra hip. Like blue nail polish. Twice this year, and it's April. The premise, as you probably know, is to receive monthly "glam bags" with samples inside. Some products may be regular size, most aren't. I'm sure that my blue nail polish(s) is a regular size but try as I might, I've offered it up to my daughter and my college age nieces (who are extremely cool) and they all passed. Not too mention that I tried the one I received yesterday and it was like putting watercolors on your nails. No matter how little I put on the brush, it went directly to my cuticles and stayed there!

Also their go-to bag stuffer is a makeup brush. Usually, the eyeshadow size, although once I admit I did get a blush brush and it's fine. This month I received that hideous blue nail polish, a makeup brush that's too big for eye shadow and too small for anything else, a lip liner in brown, moisturizer sample and a dry shampoo sample. It IS fun to get a package every month, but I started with Birchbox and only got Ipsy because the "glam bag" aspect intrigued me.

Birchbox is a much better product, the boxes are cool, and the contents are about twice the quality of Ipsy's. Ipsy does things that younger people like, for example, take a selfie and post it of you using the products you received! Give a little tutorial of how you wear your makeup. You earn points for doing such things, which is why I think I may be out of the age group that is the Ipsy demographic. Although, they know how old I am and should try to configure their glam bags accordingly.

As I mentioned before, the bags are kind of cool, but they have room for about five sample sizes, so while they look nice, I recently went on a 5-day trip, and I used four bags to carry my makeup and skin care. They're small but unique.

October bag is the worst

By Cheryl Miller, Washington, Verified Reviewer

I enjoyed getting my Ipsy bag monthly, but lately, their products have gone seriously downhill! You need to put in an explanation with the products that you deliver. Half the time I don't know what to do with it and end up throwing it away. Very disappointed for October.
