Viral Academy Review: I liked the course. However, it could be better.

Pros: The main course is very in-depth, and there is no way you can't understand what they are talking about. Everything is explained in plain English. Additionally, I like how there is a Bootcamp, which, if you go through it, you will succeed because it makes you get up and DO the work. Once you have gone through the Bootcamp, you can then receive review points that you can earn if you review another student's video and in return, you can receive feedback on yours.

The Bootcamp is a great system that gets the Viral Academy community to work with each other and help each other succeed through a system that allows them to provide value to each other and receive value back. I think they should do the same with AIM but instead of getting feedback on their course material (essentially getting information and courses for free), Jumpcut should create a Bootcamp for receiving feedback on out VSL's instead.

I also love the community forum that is built into the members' area. It is set up so well, which makes it easier to find information and helps to avoid repeat information from being posted. However, it is a shame that the Automated Income Machine course doesn't have this feature and we only get a Facebook group that is somewhat annoying to go through because it is not set up into categories (and can't be set up) like the members' area forum inside of Viral Academy.

I also love the idea of the worksheets, it makes you do the work. Additionally, a pro that AIM has that VA doesn't, is bonus videos that walk you through and pretty much do the worksheets with you, so that you don't get lost or confused.

Cons: I wasn't happy with some of the bonus videos, especially the YouTube Musician one that is pretty useless actually, and if I were to give it a star rating, it would be a 1 star. Why? Well, because it only tells you to record and upload covers of songs that are relevant to the time, so that you will get more views because people will essentially be looking for these songs. This information is kind of self-explanatory and can easily be found online. Additionally, what if you were a DJ or a Producer? The information is then completely useless to these people.

I also wasn't happy with the marketing content. There is minimal marketing material in VA compared to AIM. Which is a big let down, because marketing is a HUGE factor. However, I loved the Facebook Growth Hacks marketing video. It was hilarious and got me hooked straight away, but it was limited to Facebook.

I also wasn't happy about the fact that there is zero course material on video editing when its a course about becoming successful on YouTube? And I know there are hundreds of video editing tutorials on YouTube but I specifically enrolled in the course because I wanted to know what Jesse and Kong does. As their videos (especially their VSL's) are edited very professionally; and since this is a step-by-step course, video editing should be apart of it.

Overall, it is a pretty average course. However, I would recommend this to someone that literally has no clue what they are doing on YouTube or are trying to start and have no clue where to start. Additionally, it is also for someone who already has a YouTube channel but they want to take it to the next level, or they are struggling to grow and they need some guidance.

This is not a course for anyone looking for a "done for you" YouTube channel or a get rich quick scheme.

Star rating out of 5: 3 stars, average. The course could be a lot better.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

      Company Response from Jumpcut

      Hey Tim,

Thanks for your review of Jumpcut! We appreciate your honest feedback and would like to address some of the points you brought up.

First off, thanks for going very in-depth in your review. The idea to make walkthroughs for Viral Academy is a really good one and definitely one we’ll try implementing.

About the Facebook group for AIM: We are working on a feature that will supplement the FB group and be much more organized + better for collaboration. No ETA, but know that it’s coming!

About the music course: You are right. The course is not a catch-all, in-depth course on musician-specific YouTube content, but that is because that course was supposed to be extra information. The main lessons from Viral Academy about the Remix Strategy and Infotainment are what will drive your success, even if you were a musician. We still have success stories like Imaginary Ambition (DJ), Riffshop, Aryia and BenWonder (DJ) in the music niche despite that because they took the Remix Strategy to heart.

About teaching marketing in Viral Academy: We do cover marketing and teach the same strategies that built Simple Pickup to over 2.7M subscribers. It's the combination of viral content (great content) plus a "little" push on the marketing side of things to blow up into a big channel. You only should be using a little marketing to get the ball rolling like Aryia talks about in his blog strategy video. Jesse Mentions this same point in an interview:

Essentially, if your content sucks, no amount of promotion will help you.

About editing: The truth is the editing that Kong and Jesse have had to do for Simple Pickup was very simple (no pun intended) and they haven’t been doing anything “unique” that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. Editing also varies a lot depending on what kind of content someone is making, so it’s hard to cover all the different types. With that said, we totally understand why you’d want to learn from Jesse and Kong anyways, so you can have a true all-in-one experience. We’ll try to see how we can best bring that to fruition in future iterations of the course.

We hope that helps clear things up a bit. We still really appreciate you sharing your honest thoughts and will look to use them as we improve for the future. If you do have any other thoughts, do send them our way!

  • Great courses, great community, but...

    Overall Experience:

All in all, I'm glad I bought the Jumpcut course. Without Jumpcut and its community, I wouldn't be where I am right now. I gained (so far) 82k subscribers within 8 months and will most probably reach 100k within the next 2-3 weeks. So, yeah, I'm grateful for the fact that Kong and Jesse created this program, and there are a few 15ish people in the community who are more valuable than gold. Without their input, I wouldn't be getting as many subs as I am. The forum is quite great too (aside from a few retarded posts from people who want success without putting in any effort) and so are the bonus courses.

The only reason why I don't give 5/5 is because I haven't seen any improvement in this program in ages. I understand that VIM is currently prioritized, but from the perspective of a consumer, I must say that there hasn't been a single improvement within the program in the past 9 months aside from the peer review system. Not that I necessarily need any new features considering how great I'm doing, but objectively viewed it's quite sad that no new features have been added recently and I'm fairly sure that there won't be anything within the upcoming months. that's basically it.

I will reach 100k subscribers soon and all of this thanks to Jumpcut, its community, and of course the effort I put in - which I probably wouldn't if there wasn't this great community. So, yeah, THANKS!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

      Company Response from Jumpcut

      Hey Peter,

Thanks for writing this review! We really appreciate your honest thoughts and feedback.

First off, we want to give you a big congratulations on your 100k milestone! It’s been awesome seeing you grow from scratch during your time with Jumpcut. A lot of our students can now look up to you as a sign of what is possible with hard work and determination, so we thank you for your dedication to your channel and the Jumpcut community.

To touch upon your concerns about the program not being updated constantly, you are right about that. We’re looking to improve the program over time, but it just hasn’t been as high of a priority right now. But it is worth pointing out that we do have features on the way and that the material in the video course about Viral Marketing and the principles of great content will never really change. With that said, we’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions about what you think we can improve feature wise so please do contact/email us at if you have any ideas!

Again, congratulations on your 100k subscribers. We look forward to seeing you achieve even greater things in the upcoming months!

  • Fantastic up to the 80% mark

    Overall Experience:

Jumpcut is not only going to teach you things you never had any clue about or open you up to a whole new way of thinking about the internet, but it will also light a fire under your butt for you to chase your dreams and have the resiliency to keep going when you fail.

The content is great, the motivation is great, and the only thing it lacks is a sense of individually helping you and your content. They have bootcamps, they have video review systems, but sometimes the content someone wishes to make does not suit the growth strategies that Jumpcut sets out. You still have to figure out a lot on your own, but still, Jumpcut will take you 80% the way there. Then you better nut up and figure out that 20% because no one else will figure it out for you.

  • Still haven't taken advantage

    Overall Experience:

Although it has been an amazing journey and all the info is pretty spot on, without actually filming and getting involved I cannot give a great rating to this service without trying it out more. Most communication stopped after I paid and I can only blame that on myself. So far it seems if I interact more, I'll get more, so over the next few weeks I'm going to give another review once I've interacted more within the community. Five stars for content so far.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

  • My experience so far with Jumpcut Academy

    Overall Experience:

It's just amazing. It says things I have been thinking but have never been able to articulate out loud. I look at the examples and the instructors, and I totally get it. The work their doing...I would want to be doing it for someone else someday hoping to make their lives better.

    I love it.

  • I think MC Hammer said it best, it's "too LEGIT to quit!"

    Overall Experience:

I'm totally new to the YouTube game, and after seeing the sales videos, I HAD to (HAD TO) buy the program.

I buy a lot of high ticket programs, BUT I'm the rare breed that actually does the work (I'm only a 1/4 of the way through this program currently).

Each of the training videos (so far) have been concise in intention and content - no fluff or BS - straight value stacked on value. This course is legit; not only in content but in aesthetics and production.

I originally bought this course to learn how to create content for my Real Estate business, but it's got my mind on fire with other ideas. I don't think I've even gotten to the meat of the program, but I can tell you that I'm excited about what's to come. I feel like I'm a million light years ahead of the learning curve.

I have recommended this to at least five of my closest friends already and will continue to because it's THAT good. And the $1k price tag, is a BARGAIN. I would've paid $5k for this.

If you're pussyfooting around - STOP, and ask yourself this question: How much longer can I watch other people's dreams come true?

Don't let your music die in you, friend. Get this. Now.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

  • My life has changed so much (in a good way).

    Overall Experience:

Jumpcut has changed my work habits for the better, both in my own business venture and in my personal life. It has helped me stay on task and get rid of a horrible procrastination habit that I've had looming over me ever since high school. The content they provide doesn't just stop at "how to be rich" but goes further. It dives into topics that make you happy and how to generally just be more productive. Jumpcut has been a gold-mine of information. Anyone who isn't a part of the community is missing out!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    Overall Experience:

Although I have not completed the program yet, I would have to say this is the best program you'll find on creating a successful YouTube channel.

The Bootcamp changed my entire perspective on the direction of my channel, and I scrapped it and started a new improved channel. I think the new cleaner direction has viral potential and I'm obsessed with creating new and interesting content.

If you're even considering creating a YouTube channel or already have one you MUST enroll in Jumpcut Viral Academy immediately if not sooner.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

  • Life changing

    Overall Experience:

    Amazing course!

It’s literally changing me as a person. I have better habits and I don’t worry about the future anymore. Even though my channel didn’t even start to grow yet. But the fact that the course provides me a system of working gives me peace to my soul.

I’ve already told about this course to a couple of friends from the university who are worried that they don’t know what to do with their lives.

Although, I thought that “Jumpcut” was the name of the course which included both Viral Academy and AIM. I think it could be made more clear that these are two separate courses of Jumpcut academy. Because I initially signed up for AIM but I had to be transferred to Viral Academy. And I don’t know for a fact but I’m just guessing that other people had the same issue too. Because the website looks exactly the same for both courses.

P.S: The videos lag all the time, and I have to refresh the page, but it’s great though, and I still love the course no matter what.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I joined JCA back in 2016, and it has been a ride. Although I haven't made a living from the viral academy or online business. But I am still looking for my niche. I have tried and have done many things that I otherwise probably wouldn't have done. I have pushed myself out of my comfort zone so many times that due to JCA.

I will push on until I reach my goals.

  • Worth the money but could be better

    Overall Experience:

The info in the videos is crucial, but there isn't much help after. I thought talking to Jesse and Kong would be easier, but I had to jump through boot camp hoops for one email from Kong (proved to be very helpful), and he was irritated that I had a lot of questions (to be fair, I'm somewhere dumb in hindsight, I mean look how I'm dragging things out right now).

The bottom line is that I find that if Jumpcut staff members know how YouTube works then why haven't they made their own channels a success? Gumbino gives great advice, but he's a student. The Jumpcut info is worth the price alone though.

      Company Response from Jumpcut

      Hey Cameron,

Thanks for your feedback, we appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us.

To touch upon your frustration with speaking to Kong and Jesse, I'd like to clarify why it is difficult to get a hold of them. Since they only have a limited amount of time, it's impossible to give every one of our thousands of students the attention and help they need individually. This is why we created the course and community so that we can help as many people as possible. The community also allows people like Gumbino, to share their thoughts when Kong and Jesse are unable to do so.

To address the staff members question, not all of the Jumpcut team members are interested in being content creators. This is for various reasons, but some people either don't want to create content consistently or like their role at Jumpcut a lot, and want to relax in their time outside of work. As you know, growing a YouTube business takes time and doesn't make sense for everyone.

I hope this helps clarify things for you. Thanks again for sharing this honest review of Jumpcut, we'll take this into consideration moving forward. If you have any other concerns or questions, let us know at Otherwise, we'll see you on the forums!
