About K9 Copper Collar
K9 Copper Collar is a copper-enhanced homeopathic dog collar that claims to provide therapeutic relief for your canine friend, especially related to pain, arthritis, sore muscles, stiff joints, and iron absorption.
This means that, with K9 Copper Collar, you won’t have to struggle to give medication to your dog any longer. Just put it on and they’ll begin absorbing copper through their skin and hair follicles, while reaping all the benefits.
On top of this, K9 Copper Collar is durable, strong, and weather resistant, so it’ll stand up to daily use.
Look, I’m a dog lover myself, and I’d do just about anything to help make my pack as comfortable as possible. But is there anything to K9 Copper Collar? Will it provide real-world relief for your best friend, or are you being duped through your heartstrings? That’s exactly what we’ll explore in this K9 Copper Collar review.
Is Homeopathy Effective?
Homeopathy is a school of thought that goes back to 18th century Germany, based around the idea that “like cures like.” As WebMD puts it:
“If a substance causes a symptom in a healthy person, giving the person a very small amount of the same substance may cure the illness. In theory, a homeopathic dose enhances the body's normal healing and self-regulatory processes.”
Let’s say you (like a lot of people) are allergic to pine pollen. A homeopathic practitioner might take a small amount of this pollen and add it to a mixture of alcohol and water. Usually, this is performed at a ratio of one part substance to 99 parts liquid, which would equal one dilution.
When looking at a homeopathic label, you’ll find that most of these mixtures are either 6x or 30x potency. This references the number of dilutions cycles that have occurred.
Here’s the big problem (or problems, as the case may be): First, there is little evidence showing homeopathy provides any real-world benefits, other than a placebo effect.
Second, according to QuackWatch, if a substance was actually diluted 30x, then you’d basically be left with one molecule of a substance suspended in a container “more than 50 times the size of the Earth”! It’s simply not possible from a mathematical perspective.
But wait a second. Did you notice that nothing we’ve talked about so far relates to K9 Copper Collar? Why is that?
Is K9 Copper Collar Really a Homeopathic Remedy?
Based on everything we just discussed, we can see that K9 Copper Collar doesn’t meet the formal definition of a homeopathic remedy. Perhaps the manufacturer simply mean “natural” instead? There’s no way to be sure.
If K9 Copper Collar doesn’t work using homeopathy, how does it work?
Is the Copper in K9 Copper Collar Effective?
According to the K9 Copper Collar website:
“Copper plays a role in the development in a dog’s bones, connective tissue, collagen, and the protective covering of nerves. It also acts as an antioxident (sic), and helps your dog’s body absorb iron, making it an important part of red blood cell function.”
Is there any truth to this? Absolutely. But what the manufacturer doesn’t mention is that these benefits only occur when copper is ingested. There’s also insufficient clinical evidence supporting the claim that wearing any type of copper jewelry can result in any kind of real world benefits for humans—again, with the exception of the placebo effect.
However, K9’s commercial specifically claims that your dog’s movements will “naturally facilitate the absorption of copper through their skin and hair follicles, supporting rheumatic and arthritic types of pain,” similar to the claims behind many of these copper products intended for humans.
Unfortunately, they don’t provide any evidence to support it, and we didn’t uncover any third party clinical evidence during our research showing that something like this is possible.
Nonetheless, K9 Copper Collar seems to be fairly attractive, so it might be worth giving a shot if the price is low enough, right?
How Much Does K9 Copper Collar Cost?
Two K9 Copper Collars are priced at:
- Small (neck size 9.5 - 14.5 in): $12.99
- Medium (neck size 13 - 20.5 in): $14.99
- Large (neck size 18.5 - 26.5 in): $14.99
You’ll also pay $13.98 S&H for both collars, and will receive a bonus pair of TickEase Tweezers.
There wasn’t a refund policy listed for K9 Copper Collar at the time of our research, so we sent an email to email@example.com looking for more information. After receiving their quick reply, we learned the collar comes with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges.
This means that if you decide to return K9 Copper Collar, you’ll immediately lose $13.98, plus whatever it will cost to ship the collars back to the manufacturer.
Who Manufactures K9 Copper Collar?
K9 Copper Collar is a product from Prime Direct Brands, a relatively under-the-radar company within the ASOTV industry, although they’ve had some pretty big hits recently, including Citizens Disability, AutoVantage, and WindoBully, to name just a few. What are customers saying about their products and services?
Here on HighYa, they had an average rating of about 2.2 stars. Overall, most complaints seemed to reference high prices, poor service, and extremely long wait times, while most compliments referenced the exact opposite. Clearly, this doesn’t necessarily have any impact on what you’ll experience with K9 Copper Collar, although it’s still worth noting.
Will K9 Copper Collar Provide Therapy for Your Dog?
As we discussed above, wearing copper jewelry has been known to produce a placebo effect in humans, which can sometimes work just as well as medication for relieving pain and discomfort, improving flexibility, and more.
However, with K9 Copper Collar, we’re obviously not talking about humans, and there’s little reason to believe that dogs can experience this same placebo effect.
Given everything we’ve talked about here, it’s unclear to us exactly how K9 Copper Collar can benefit your four-legged friend, or why you should risk $15 in non-refundable S&H fees to give it a try.
