Laser Trim by Micro Touch is a laser-guided trimmer with a built-in spotlight that claims to deliver precision grooming for all your manscaping needs. Whether used on your beard, mustache, sideburns, neckline, nose, ears, chest, or body, Laser Trim promises to deliver “perfect grooming from head to toe.”

How? Using an advanced trimming head outfitted with German stainless steel blades, Micro Touch tells us that Laser Trim shaves as close as a blade, giving you “closer, cleaner, smoother, straighter” results—while remaining safe to the touch. This way, Laser Trim promises to be powerful, but also gentle on your most sensitive skin.

But is Laser Trim really so precise that you “can’t make a mistake”? Will it work for your full-body hair trimming needs? Are there better options? There are a lot of questions when it comes to Laser Trim by Micro Touch—we’ll help you find answers here.

What Exactly Is Laser Trim?

Compared to their bigger brethren (such as something you’d use to shave your head), products like Laser Trim are basically scaled down versions of an electric trimmer. Here, a small motor powers two blades, which move past each other at very fast speeds to quickly and precisely cut hair.

Instead of the typically wide, perpendicular-mounted plate you’d find with regular trimmers though, Laser Trim features tiny blades that are ‘tucked under’ and parallel to the tip. This way, you’ll supposedly be able to see exactly what you’re doing and groom many different areas with ease.

To further help you along, we’re told Laser Trim also features a built-in spotlight and blue laser guide. Are customers finding that it performs brightly in the real world, though?

Are There Other Products Like Laser Trim?

Products like Laser Trim go by many names, including micro trimmers, personal trimmers, precision trimmers, and more. Before companies started marketing them from this angle, though, they were simply known as electric eyebrow trimmers.

Today, you’ll find these small devices available in a variety of colors and shapes and featuring different attachments. To see what we mean, try typing any of the above phrases into your favorite search engine, and you’ll find out just how many there are.

From this perspective, with the exception of its light and guide, Laser Trim doesn’t seem to be all that much different from third-party products.

Even referencing only products sold under the As Seen on TV banner, it’s not uncommon for a manufacturer to rebrand something from their existing lineup (perhaps a solid seller from several years ago, for example). To this point, in the instance of Laser Trim, it appears to be a slightly redesigned version of the original Micro Touch Max.

In fact, other than the colors and Laser Trim’s laser guide, they appear to be identical products. Let’s carry this thought over to the next section.

Does Laser Trim by Micro Touch Come with Good Reviews?

While Laser Trim was a brand new product with no online reviews at the time of our research, Micro Touch Max had hundreds. Granted, they’re two different products, but it’s easy to see how feedback for one could apply to the other. What’s everyone saying?

Whether you’re looking at Amazon, Walmart.com, or pretty much anywhere else online, Max seems to garner middle-of-the-road reviews. Some customers appear to have had positive experiences, although most (44% of Amazon reviewers) felt that it was of poor quality, or claimed that it didn’t work as advertised (more than one stated their Max trimmer didn’t work right out of the box).

Again, it’s important to reiterate that Laser Trim and Max are two different products, so the manufacturer may have worked out some of the quality concerns since then. However, you should also keep in mind that these are common complaints for ASOTV products as a whole—not just Micro Touch’s.

From a company perspective, Micro Touch is a brand owned by Idea Village, one of the biggest players in the industry. They also make other Micro Touch products, including One Razor and Tough Blade, as well Yes! by Finishing Touch and the Copper Fit line.

In general, you’ll find that their other products come with much of the same feedback we previously discussed.

We already talked about other options, but how does Laser Trim stack up from a price perspective?

How Much Does Laser Trim Cost?

One Laser Trim is priced at $19.99 plus $5.99 S&H, which includes a 10-piece grooming kit.

All Laser Trim purchases come with a 60-day money back guarantee, less S&H. In order to request one, you’ll need to call Idea Village’s customer service department at 800-808-2624.

Comparatively, you can purchase micro trimmers from other brands for as little as $7-$8. Admittedly, trimmers at this price point generally aren’t attractively designed, and they may not have Laser Trim’s lights, but they operate using the same basic concept.

What Is Arbitration? Why Is It Important?

Binding arbitration is a process whereby you and a company use a third party (known as an arbitrator) to help you settle a dispute, without involving the courts. The problem is that you’ll waive many of your legal rights, including a trial by jury or joining a class action lawsuit.

Why’s this important? Because as soon as you purchase Laser Trim on the Micro Touch website, you’ll be bound to an arbitration agreement.

Will You Get A Close Shave with Laser Trim?

If you re-watch Laser Trim’s commercial, we’d recommend paying close attention to the hands in each demonstration. Per our observation, what you’ll notice is that none of the models are shaving their own beards, so you might not experience the exact same ease of use once you’re in front of the mirror, at least that's what I would think as a potential consumer.

Outside of this, the previous incarnation (Micro Touch Max) seems to score hit-or-miss online reviews, but we’ll just have to wait and see if customers report any similarities with Laser Trim.

Does this mean you should place your order? When it comes down to it, it’s your money, so we’ll leave this decision up to you. Should you feel like rolling the dice though, the manufacturer offers a 60-day refund policy on Laser Trim if you’re dissatisfied—just keep in mind you’ll lose your original S&H, plus whatever it costs to send it back to the company.
