About MasterPan

Made from 100% cast aluminum, MasterPan is an all-purpose fry pan that can help you cook 5 different foods at once, but requires only one burner. It’ll also take up less storage space, too!

MasterPan’s energy efficient base delivers heat to all parts of the pan, although its center chamber is perfect for higher heat foods, like grilled meats and seafood, while the side chambers provide lower heat for eggs, vegetables, potatoes, and more. And because MasterPan is light in the hand, you can go directly from burner to tabletop.

Time to clean up? MasterPan makes it a breeze with its PFOA-free non-stick coating. It’s even dishwasher safe!

Should you give MasterPan a try? Will it work as well as the manufacturer makes it seem? Is it really ideal for families, couples, and college students alike? We’ll explore all of this here. Let’s start with the competition.

Is MasterPan In a Class Of Its Own?

Products like MasterPan go by a couple different names, including sectioned pan and divided pan. Regardless of what you call them though, a quick online search will show you that they’re fairly common. Granted, most seem to contain only 2-3 sections (versus MasterPan’s five), but the point is that you’ve got choices.

Another thing you’ll notice is that when it comes to sectioned pans, they often come in one of three materials: cast iron, stainless steel, and aluminum, the latter of which MasterPan belongs to. But is aluminum a good cooking material?

Aluminum Pans: Pros & Cons

According to TheFrugalKitchen.com, more than half of all cookware sold today is made of aluminum. Why? Because it’s generally inexpensive and lightweight. Aluminum cookware also boasts excellent thermal conductivity.

Unless it’s anodized or covered with some other material though, raw aluminum cookware reacts with both acidic and alkaline foods, which can change the color and taste of food. It might also pit, warp, scratch, and dent easily, and it can’t be used on induction cooktops.

To help address some of these drawbacks, MasterPan is coated with a non-stick, PFOA (Teflon)-free surface. We’re not told exactly what it is, but it’s likely some form of ceramic (we’ll come back around to this in the final section).

How much will you pay for MasterPan?

MasterPan’s Master Pricing

One MasterPan is priced at two payments of $33.33 plus $9.95 S&H, bringing your grand total to $76.61. Your order will also come with bonus cooking tongs, spoon, and spatula.

According to the MasterPan website, it comes with a 2-year warranty. However, there wasn’t a refund policy listed, and there wasn’t a phone number or email address we could use to contact the company.

Important note: MasterPan is also available through dozens of third-party companies (both online and off), including Walmart, WayFair, Overstock.com, and more.

Our Final Thoughts & Observations About MasterPan

Is MasterPan right for you? Cookware is an intensely personal decision, so this is a question that only you’ll be able to answer. To help you think it through, here are a few questions we came up with:

What are you planning to cook?

Given the small size and shallowness of each of MasterPan’s chambers, they’re probably not good for much more than heating up foods. For example: The rice shown on the MasterPan website would require boiling water, and you’d only be able to make a small amount at once.

How many people are in your household?

Speaking of which, if you live alone or with your significant other, MasterPan might be ideal for quickly heating up enough food for everyone to eat. But if you have several members in your household, you probably won’t be able to cook enough at once to feed them all, defeating MasterPan’s basic purpose.

How often will you use MasterPan?

Given its limitations (best for warming up small portions of food), how often do you realistically foresee yourself using it? If you don’t often heat up food on the stovetop or need anything more than small portions, then it might just take up precious cabinet space (it is big, after all!).

Are Other Customers Happy With MasterPan?

On Amazon, MasterPan received 45 customer reviews and an average rating of 3.9 stars. There, most customers seemed pleased with its versatility, ease of use, and quality construction. What few complaints there were seemed to reference uneven heat distribution, and that each section is too small.

Note: One Amazon customer also mentioned that while MasterPan is PFOA-free, the company doesn’t state that it’s also PTFE-free, which is another chemical associated with just as many health side effects.

It’s also important to mention that many of the products reviews on Amazon came from accounts where this was the only review, or where all reviews were posted within a short period of time. Why’s this important? Because it could indicate they’re fake.

The Guardian also provided an in-depth (and funny!) review of MasterPan, ultimately giving it 2 out of 5 stars. Why? Mainly due to uneven heat distribution. The heat from the center scrambled the eggs on the outside too quickly, and some food spilled onto others. In fact, after everything was said and done, they noted, “the end product looks like a prison meal, waiting to be slid through a hatch.”

The Bottom Line About MasterPan

Ultimately, if you take a good look at your needs and decide that MasterPan’s right for you, we might recommend buying locally. This way, you’ll save a good chunk of change if you decide to return it.
