About Maxiglide XP Digital

The Maxiglide XP Digital is a hair styling device that promises to be able to transform the way you straighten your hair, at least if the company’s marketing materials are to be believed.

The manufacturer claims the product is able to perform up to 4 times faster than ordinary flat irons and straightening products thanks to its unique design. The Maxiglide XP Digital comes in two different colors, allowing you to choose between Turquoise and Pink.

The makers of the product bill it as a modern alternative to flat irons and other hair straightening products, claiming that these types of devices never truly straighten your hair on the first pass, especially if it’s naturally wavy or curly. It also claims to differentiate itself by providing protective ridges on the outside of the device, keeping it cool to the touch, unlike most traditional flat irons.

If there’s one thing those of us with naturally curly hair want, it’s options. Having the choice to go straight for an evening or two is an empowering thought, but often, it’s much easier said than done in reality.

Having a product that would truly give you straight, silky smooth hair on the first pass would surely be a valuable item for many of us, provided it actually was able to do so consistently and safely, without damaging our hair in the process.

In order to determine whether or not the Maxiglide XP Digital can truly live up to its premise, we’ll need to take a closer look at how exactly it claims to work to turn even the curliest, waviest hair into straight, detangled hair.

How Maxiglide XP Digital Works

The product’s main functionality is two-fold; the manufacturer claims that a complicated series of 120 detangling pins gently but firmly guide and straighten out even the curliest hairs, leaving them satisfyingly straight after just one pass with the Maxiglide XP Digital.

In addition, the device also features controlled SteamBurst technology that the makers claim will hydrate and soften the hair as you run the product over it.

In order to use the product, you simply need to start as close to the roots as possible, running the device along the length of your hair slowly. While doing so, you can push the large blue button on the handle to engage the Steamburst technology, hydrating and softening your hair as it’s straightened.

In addition, there is a digital temperature control function that allows you to adjust the temperature of the device to match the needs of your specific hair type, much like you can in various higher-end flat irons. The device can be set anywhere from 190 degrees Fahrenheit to 430 degrees Fahrenheit, allowing you to experiment with exactly what level gives you the best results.

At the same time, the device’s protective ridges are claimed to keep the outer surface cool to the touch, preventing burns regardless of what temperature the Maxiglide XP Digital is set to.

All in all, it seems as though using the Maxiglide XP Digital is a fairly simple affair, and shouldn’t be entirely unfamiliar to anyone who regularly uses a traditional flat iron. Now that we know a bit more about how the device itself functions, let’s answer the next logical question; how much will it actually cost you to get your hands on one of your own?

Maxiglide XP Digital Pricing

Taking a look at the main website for the product, it would appear that it is currently only available as part of two possible bundle packages.

The two packages essentially boil down to how you’d prefer to pay for the product, with one giving you the option to make three payments of $33.33 plus $14.99 for shipping & handling, and the other allowing you to pay the full amount of $99.99 plus $14.99 S&H.

Regardless of which package you opt for, you’ll also receive several bonus items as part of the purchase. Below are the items you can expect to recieve in each of the packages, respectively:

Three Payment Package:

  • 1-Month Supply of beyondSTRAIGHT™ (2 oz.)
  • 1-Month Supply of theEND™ (0.34 oz.)
  • Detangling Brush
  • Carrying Case

One Payment Package:

  • 1-Month Supply of beyondSTRAIGHT™ (2 oz.)
  • 1-Month Supply of theEND™ (0.34 oz.)
  • Detangling Brush
  • Carrying Case
  • Full Size MAXesse™ Shampoo (12 oz.)
  • Full Size MAXesse™ Conditioner (8 oz.)
  • Full Size Leave in Conditioner (8 oz.)
  • Full Size Deep Conditioner (8 oz.)

Obviously, personal care products can be quite a subjective e, so you’ll have to evaluate for yourself how valuable such an offer would be for you, but nonetheless, it is nice to see the company bundling in so much potential value with the purchase.

Maxiglide XP Digital Return Policy & Warranty

The Maxiglide XP Digital comes with a 15 day return policy, but it should be noted that this policy only covers defective products and is only good for a cash credit, not an actual full refund.

According to the terms and conditions set forth by the manufacturer, “Got what you asked for but simply changed my mind!”, “Found it cheaper somewhere else!”, “and decided I do not like the purchase or had no use for it!” are not valid reasons to utilize the 15 day return policy.

Obviously, this is somewhat unsettling from a customer service standpoint, and based on our experience covering products in the hair care niche, we’d say this is a fairly uncommon practice for a company not to offer a satisfaction guarantee.

As for the warranty, the Maxiglide XP Digital offers a two year offer against manufacturing defects. Alarmingly, the terms state that defects are usually discovered within 3 months of the purchase and that the two-year designation is put in place to allow up to 21 months of processing and handling of defective warranty claims.

We think it’s very fair to say that 21 months to process a return for a defective product seems a bit excessive, and we’d advise our readers to keep this in mind when considering making a purchase.

Are There Other Products Worth Considering?

As we discussed earlier on, the Maxiglide XP Digital seems to be, on the surface anyways, a unique product worth consideration due to its functionality and design.

That being said, seeing as the makers of the product claim it to be an alternative to traditional flat irons, it’s fair to say that there’s a decent amount of competition out there, both online and off.

There are quite literally hundreds of different straightening flat irons and similar products available today, and some of them, such as the Infiniti Pro by Conair, even have similar functions to the Maxiglide XP Digital.

The Conair flat iron features a steam release function that seems quite similar to the SteamBurst feature included on the Maxiglide, on paper anyways.

At $99.99, it’s also priced the same, making the decision even more difficult for some. All told, the real potential value with the Maxiglide likely comes from its claim of being able to completely straighten out even the curliest, waviest hair in just one pass.

Considering that conventional flat irons have been known to take multiple passes to fully straighten out some hair types, there could potentially be some truth to the claim that the Maxiglide XP Digital is able to straighten hair up to 4 times faster than other products.

Seeing as we haven’t tested the device ourselves, we really can’t say with certainty that it will be able to provide these results, and as of the time of this writing, we weren’t able to find any customer reviews that seems to confirm or deny this information.

The Bottom Line: Will Maxiglide XP Digital Truly Give You Straight Hair?

Taking everything that we’ve learned about the Maxiglide XP Digital into account, we feel a bit conflicted on the value you can expect to receive from the product on the whole.

On the one hand, the manufacturer’s explainer video and sales information make enough sense in theory that we could potentially see the product as being able to live up to the claims it makes about its effectiveness.

On the other hand, we feel that the highly limited return policy and extremely prolonged warranty process is a real cause for concern, as it doesn’t exactly paint a picture of confidence for those considering making a purchase for the product.

There’s also the matter of some strong alternatives to consider, especially when you factor in products that have hundreds of reviews and the backing of a major brand to boot.

Products from Conair and other notable manufacturers claim to offer similar functionality, but the Maxiglide still stands on its own due to its unique design and form factor.

Having said that, it’ll ultimately be up to you to decide whether or not the concept of the Maxiglide XP Digital alone is enough to warrant making a purchase.

Obviously, we’d recommend keeping the restrictive return policy firmly in mind when going into the purchase, but when it comes to our honest opinion, we feel that any money spent here might be better used on a product with more support behind it.

    Super positive

I used the Maxiglide for years. I have thick, wavy, curly hair very hard to tame. I fell head over heels for the product and didn’t need to have a haircut for two years. My hair was all the down to my butt and it was silky straight and beautiful. The wiring on the straightener kept shorting out. I bought at least 5 in 2 years, had to have it, then they quit selling it and I was devastated. As the years have gone on, my hair is fried and I can’t grow it long anymore.

I see they now have a newer version, so I just ordered it and am so excited, I can’t wait to get it and get my long beautiful hair back. I just hope the wiring is fixed. I did read one of the reasons they quit selling it for so long was because of the wiring, so I’m assuming they’ve fixed this problem.

Anyway, I can’t say it enough, get this product, it’s so worth it. And as far as the pins pulling out hair, that’s ridiculous, like I said I have thick, wavy, frizzy hair, you have to brush your hair first, then the pins glide right through. It’s everything they advertise it to be and SO much more.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
