Noom

By Sandy P., Western North Carolina, Verified Reviewer

Noom has worked very well for me. It includes education and a way to record your daily meals and workouts so that you have to be accountable. I have found it an easy way to start each day and keep on track.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Impressed

By Tasha A., Wyoming, Verified Reviewer

I am truly loving my experience to its entity. No problems, works great. One of the best apps I have on the phone, keeps me accountable and on track. Wide variety of recipes. Wide range of restaurants with calories so you know what you're eating while you're out and about. Truly one of the best lifestyle changing apps I have on my phone.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good for beginners

By Alex S., Los Angeles, CA, Verified Reviewer

This app is great for beginners who have never counted calories before and have a hard time with the psychological aspect of food. You can't log your food for the next day, so it makes it a little hard to plan unless you eat the same things for a few days in a row. The group aspect of it is great, you have an awesome support group. Your "personal" trainer is good to get an added extra motivator and ask questions, but they don't seem to answer as often as you'd like or think they would considering you're paying a $100+. It's basic enough, like their color coding system for food which is really nice and all the reading material is great. Overall, I would recommend if you're a beginner or even someone who's intermediate in terms of dieting.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Haven't lost any weight

By Hayley F., Washington, Verified Reviewer

The coaches don't really give any advice. I really expected more coaching. The group discussion is nice. I haven't lost any weight. The information is beneficial, but most of it is common knowledge.

I'm a Noomer

By Zakiyya R., Pennsylvania, Verified Reviewer

I love Noom. This program has been really helpful with changing habits in addition to establishing new ones. It really gives you an inside look into what weight loss really is. Having daily activities keeps me working on my big picture. The app is user-friendly. I really love everything about it. The one thing I would like to see change is more meetings with your assigned goal specialist. I think 2-3 times a week would be better.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Crappy bots and massive charges

By Leia C., Tampa, FL, Verified Reviewer

Noom’s terrible bot would never assign me a coach, and then I ended up being charged over $100 without even getting to use my "free trial." No matter how hard I try, I can’t get to a human. The bot gave me the run around when I tried to cancel.

Noom is run by crooks who are laughing at us while we try to use their stupid bots.

Provides structure but you need to read the T&C

By Ashley H., Texas, Verified Reviewer

I've been with the program for 6 weeks. While it doesn't provide anything that many people who haven't tried a ton of diets doesn't already know, it provides a loose and flexible structure that many other diets don't provide.

For me, it took away the "allowed" vs. "forbidden" food concept that I struggle with on restrictive diets (Atkins, Paleo, Keto, yep tried almost all of them). Instead, it was about the choices and moderation.

Having the daily "lessons," the weekly coaching (I choose not to interact with my coach a ton), and the new group resource provides a constant reminder throughout the day that I'm working towards a long-term goal. It isn't about mastering this one day, it's about making incremental changes that I can continue even after this 6-month subscription.

They absolutely do charge you for the subscription after the trial period, but they are upfront about that in the beginning so while I know it is a hardship for some, I don't view it as a poor business practice.

Bottom line - if you know what you need to do but need the help to put the practices in place one step at a time and need varying levels of accountability, then I think this is a viable option. Do your own research because this approach certainly isn't for those who want to be provided with meal plans, exercise plans, and a strict regimen. It's for people who want to put into practice their own strategies and judgments so they are able to make smart decisions once the program is over.

DON'T try Noom

By Ellen D., Indiana, Verified Reviewer

Noom is not only an ineffective program, but the customer service is inept. There is no phone number to contact customer service, and they did not heed to my request to cancel. It is clear that this organization is not into fixing your long term weight control rather it appears from my perspective that they are only interested in scamming you out of your money.

Not what I’d hoped for...

By Alexandria M., Johnson City, TN, Verified Reviewer

I saw the commercials for Noom and thought it might be a great way to help me! I downloaded the app to find out that it would cost me, roughly $19.00 a month. They claim that the program should be done for at least 8 months. It boasts about coaches, education, and accountability. I found all of this lacking. The "coach" seemed like a bot that just fills in the blanks. Also, it seemed as though it auto-generated responses to reiterate my own responses back to me to make me think it was real. Only a dummy would think that.

So I did the 14-day trial which entailed logging food, crappy educational today bits, a robotic coach and promises for something better the next day which never really happened. It required me to utilize my phone for every move to count my steps. Which is nearly impossible to do because who keeps their phone in their hands the whole day? Really, it came down to only using the app to log food, and I can do that on any free app. I do like that they split the food up into colored groups, but then again that doesn’t work if the food logs aren’t actually accurate or updated. I, unlike many here, was actually able to message my cancellation. Once I did that, it asked me why I wanted to cancel and offered me to go on a month to month basis with cancellation anytime instead of one lump up front charge. I, of course, declined and canceled altogether. Not useful for me whatsoever.

Wish I could give this negative stars. Scam!

By Grace H., Queensland, Australia, Verified Reviewer

Oh how I wish I could give this company negative stars.

Please LISTEN to the NEGATIVE REVIEWS and don't REGRET ignoring them like I do!

In short. The app gives you NOTHING that you can’t just get for free yourself. I received no meal plan or exercise plan and just found out you need to pay EXTRA (on top of CRAZY fees) to get these done? Which means the app is basically a food diary and calorie counter - there are HEAPS of apps that offer that for FREE.

I joined on a month trial - 14 days later they took $159 from my account and upon contacting the team was sent what I now realize is a "copy-paste" message that is sent to everyone who complains about being ripped off.

PLEASE. There are so many better programs out there. This is a scam, a fraud, a rip-off, and will offer you nothing. Save your money and take your motivation and good intentions elsewhere!

Great experience. Read the terms before you enter payment information.

By Emily A., Florida, Verified Reviewer

All of the negative reviews are based on the fact that people don't read terms. It clearly states that if you don't cancel within the trial period, you will automatically be billed for the program.

I'm having a great experience using it so far. I have hit goals and lost weight, but more importantly, I have more energy and am enjoying my life more.

I was in a mental place where I knew I needed to lose the weight but couldn't motivate myself to actually start. Any program may have worked for me, but I love the way this one started...your first goal is simply to believe in it and in yourself. That was the hardest one for skeptical me, but once I committed to it, it started working.

If you're willing to pay for a program to help you really lose weight, bite the bullet. If you're only interested in the free trial, either make sure you cancel it within the stated window or find a completely free program/app. For me, the money is worth the result.
