No refund after missing free cancellation by ONE day

By Stephanie G., Scranton, PA, Verified Reviewer

I have no idea if Noom is actually any good. I signed up for a 14-day free trial but life was kinda crazy and I never really had a chance to check it out. I decided to cancel the subscription and realized I was one day past the free trial period. I sent in my cancellation and was told I couldn't get a refund for the YEAR subscription ($159) because I missed the deadline. I've never had an experience like this with any other company. Had a realized that was even a possibility, I never would have signed up for the free trial.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

BAD. Cheats you out of money, watch carefully!

By Dawn P., Oklahoma, Verified Reviewer

This has been a crazy business. Even when you cancel, they charge you. Their policy and coaches are a joke. Don't be duped like I was! I signed up on a free app. I agreed to try it for $59.00. I decided it was not for me. I canceled within the 14-day period. My coach paid no attention to me. I tried to cancel after just three days. She did not get back to me until the 21st. I only received $29.50 back, but then they charged my account $159.00.

This has been a nightmare.

They're sneaky!

By Jenean K., Lee's Summit, MO, Verified Reviewer

I would NOT recommend. I signed up for the 14-day trial for $1. I didn't realize it was an automatic sign up for the program after 14 days. They hit my credit card for $129, which, in effect, is the cost for three months of their program. Now when I go to the website to cancel, I see they claim no refunds. This is how they get their money - a sneaky, vague "opt out" and then hit you for three months instead of one month. I've requested a refund, but just get automated responses. I won't get my money back, but I'll sure as heck give them negative reviews whenever and wherever I can.

SCAM!

By Kim B., Florida, Verified Reviewer

I joined on January 3rd to help with my New Year's resolution. The site said there was a $1 fee, which I paid. The app is basically a glorified pedometer and food log, with lots of pre-programmed, generic "support" statements sent to you daily.

You are supposed to weigh in every day, which is NOT recommended when losing weight. The "support" from your "coach" is a robotic text sent every 3-4 days.

At 2 and 1/2 weeks, I was charged $149! For what? They do nothing for you! I disputed it with PayPal, but they sided with Noom. Said it was a pre-authorized charge. I would never have authorized any app to charge me $149!

When you call Noom all you get is an automated message about canceling. Doesn't anyone think its strange that their answering message leads with that? They tell you to contact your "coach" to request cancellation and a refund. Once you do, nothing happens except that all messages from your "coach" stop.

STAY AWAY!

No refund if not satisfied

By Elizabeth B., Basking Ridge, NJ, Verified Reviewer

Not a bad program, but it’s one of those things that you sign up for free and you get a big $139 charge after two weeks, automatically. There are NO refunds, even prorated.

I was disappointed that it’s really just a cut your calories to starvation levels. They didn’t mention that in the ads.

So far...amazing!

By Anne-Marie P., California, Verified Reviewer

I'm on Day 11 of my trial period and so far, love the results! I'm enjoying the daily coaching (reading assignments), love the daily weigh-in and meal logging. It all keeps me accountable and a whole new approach to weight loss than I've experienced before. I gave this app four stars only because the pedometer part of it doesn't seem to function properly. No problem, easy fix. I purchased my own pedometer and just log the steps walked that day into my Noom app. No problem.

For those on the edge, you absolutely should consider signing on to this program. The complainers don't seem to understand that this app is more psychological and requires accountability on the part of the participant. If you are expecting more, then there probably is no "diet program" out there that'll work for you anyway. In my opinion, this app is working for me, and I highly recommend it!

$160 charged annually

By Jane H., Worcester, MA, Verified Reviewer

Without being told or asked if I wanted to continue, $160 was charged after my two-week trial.

If they had a clue, they would have reached out, outside of the app to check in. That is how they get you, they only communicate through the app.

Use Mayo Clinic instead. It's a tested system and trusted, and they only bill you quarterly. What company bills annually? Especially in this economy?

Run, run far away.

Rip-off

By Laura W., Flowery Branch, GA, Verified Reviewer

Despite the fact that I canceled this prior to the deadline, they continue to charge me. I tried filing a dispute to no avail. I'm going through a divorce and can barely afford food since my husband no longer contributes to the household. They did not care.

Refund

By Mary D., Dade City, FL, Verified Reviewer

I contacted them three times, got a robotic answer, they said they sent me emails and receipts, which I never received. They charged me $159.00. I told them I wanted a refund, this was dishonest since they sent me nothing. I notified my PayPal and the Better Business Bureau who sent it to NY Bureau and two days later, I got a refund. My advice is, if you honestly got a problem with them, don't complain, do something.

Nice idea, poor management and policies

By Sabrina H., Chapel Hill, NC, Verified Reviewer

I was still in my two-week trial when my daughter was hospitalized. I hadn’t really thought about Noom but when I got billed $130 I canceled. I explained that I was staying with my daughter in the hospital with limited access to electronic or healthy food and I wanted to cancel or suspend my membership for a bit. Well, they canceled the "auto-renew," but that’s it. There is no way I can think about logging food or weighing in, right now is all about my sweet girl in the hospital. I proposed that we suspend my time if we couldn’t cancel - nothing! Very disappointed that they would take the position with someone just trying to hang on. Stay away.

No way!

By Lois M., Montana, Verified Reviewer

I must have signed on for the trial period (January 1st) as they had my credit card number, but on the 16th I'm charged $149. I never even filled out the profile nor ever signed in. There is no way I can download the app on my desktop computer, so I have no way of canceling. I've tried every way I can to find a phone number, but they are scammy enough to not put that out there. Does anyone have a way of getting a hold of them? I tried to cancel my PayPal payment, but if they can get a hold of them, I'm going to be stuck paying the $149.
