About Nouveau Skin Care

There’s a lot that Nouveau Skin Care—an anti-aging cream sold only online—claims to do. Using a proprietary blend of a face-firming peptide, Biosphere, Biofil spheres, essential vitamins, and antioxidants, Nouveau Skin Care can help decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, boost collagen production, smooth and repair skin, and more.

In fact, Nouveau is so powerful that it’s considered “better than Botox,” which is why it’s become the “amazing new Hollywood secret”!

Look, we know your time is limited so we won’t beat around the bush: When it comes down to it, we think your money would be better spent on just about anything other than Nouveau Skin Care. But why are we coming down so hard on this serum, and how can we be so sure?

These are all great questions! To start answering them, let’s take a closer look at Nouveau’s patented formulation.

How Effective Are Nouveau Skin Care’s Ingredients?

There isn’t a product label anywhere on the Nouveau website, but after reading through the whole thing, here’s what we’re told it contains:

Notice how there’s no hyperlink for Biosphere or Biofil spheres? This is because they don’t appear to be real ingredients. Instead, they’re only found on anti-aging websites that use this same design template (more about this next). And although QuSome might help improve the effectiveness of active ingredients, doesn’t provide any benefits itself.

Finally, although vitamins and antioxidants are generally a good thing, these terms are so broad that they’re essentially meaningless here.

Now, let’s talk more about these anti-aging websites.

Order In Chaos: The Template-Based Anti-Aging Industry

When it comes to anti-aging products, you basically have three different tiers:

  1. Mainstream products from national companies sold at local retailers.
  2. Products sold only online, but which come from reputable companies.
  3. Those sold only online and come from companies you’ve never heard from (if you can uncover their name in the first place).

Of these, Nouveau falls in the third tier. But here’s the thing: An entire third-tier “sub-industry” has appeared over the last couple years, where many of these companies reuse the exact same website template over and over. What’s the reason?

We covered everything in detail in Avoid These Anti-Aging Websites Like the Plague, but in a nutshell, here’s what we think is going on. A company will sell their anti-aging product under one name for a while, until too much negative customer feedback appears online.

Then, they’ll pull the website down, make up a new product name, change the website address and image in the template, post the site, and they’re back up and running in no time flat. Don’t believe us? Compare the sites for popular products like Encante Cream, NuPlenish Skincare, and True Derma Lift, and you’ll find that they’re basically identical to Nouveau Skin Care.

What’s got everyone so upset, though? We’ll get to that in just a second, but before we do, let’s discuss Nouveau’s price.

Nouveau Skin Care’s Trial & Autoship Enrollment

Like every one of these other products, Nouveau Skin Care is only available through a trial. You’ll pay $4.95 to receive a full 30-day supply, and after 14 days have passed, you’ll be charged the full price of $89.75.

In addition, you’ll continue receiving a fresh supply of Nouveau once per month through their autoship program, and your card will be charged $89.75 each time. But whether it’s for an anti-aging product or something else altogether, we generally recommend avoiding products sold only through free trials.

According to the company’s Terms & Conditions, you can cancel your trial or stop your automatic shipments by calling customer service at 888-694-4574. You can also request a refund within 30 days, although this will be less S&H charges and a $19.95 restocking fee.

In reality though, we think you’ll have a very difficult time accomplishing anything through customer service. Why? Now it’s time to talk about customer reviews for products like Nouveau Skin Care.

Is Nouveau Skin Care a Reputable Product?

It doesn’t matter which template-based anti-aging product you’re talking about, or where you’re reading the reviews, nearly all come with bottom-of-the-barrel online customer feedback. And 9 out of 10 times, these complaints reference one or more of the following:

  • Ineffective. Quite simply, they just don’t work. In a lot of cases, customers complained that their skin became overdried, while some experience mild to moderate side effectives like redness, burning, and rashes.
  • Expensive. Paying nearly $100 for a product that doesn’t work isn’t bound to make anyone happy.
  • Lousy customer service. Here’s what we think is the lynchpin for these companies. They know people will soon call and demand refunds, so they specifically train their service staff to make it as difficult as possible, which might include yelling at you or hanging up in you ear.

Since Nouveau Skin Care was so new at the time of our research, we didn’t encounter any online feedback. But given the fact that the product is indistinguishable from all these other options, we think it’s likely you’ll experience much of the same.

Is Nouveau Skin Care Just a Common Anti-Aging Scam?

We think it’s important to remain unbiased when reviewing a product, but we also think it’s important to state our opinions and make you aware of any red flags when we can back everything up with evidence.

So, in the case of Nouveau Skin Care, given what we’ve discussed here today, we think it’s just another ploy to steal your hard-earned money and stress you out in the process. What can you do instead? Read about tried-and-true methods of preventing wrinkles in the first place, and how to avoid being conned into paying ultra-high prices!

Be careful! I fell into their trap easily!

I fell into the internet scam trap easily. By the time I found out the super high charges, my credit card was charged three times. Nowhere do they tell you clearly about the 14-day trial and the exact charge after the 14 days trial. After I questioned them today about the charge, they answered that I agreed to the terms, and they said the term details were just a few clicks away! Funny, why can't they put the terms clearly on the screen, why do they try so hard to hide it? The reason is that they want to trap you, and many are trapped, cheated, and robbed by them. I hope you get this message on time and try your best to avoid being the next victim! Good luck to you.

    I got duped!

I recently ordered the "trial" offer from Nouveau. No, I didn't see the fine print concerning canceling. When I received the first charges on my credit card, I meant to call them to cancel. Well, shame on me, I forgot! Then I receive a second package and charge to my credit card.

I called to cancel and ask for a refund. Well, the second shipment was charged on 8/17 to my card, and this is 9/13 that I called. That is clearly within 30 days of the charge. I was told that the returned package would not be received by them before the end of the 30 days. Therefore they couldn't refund that money. I told them I was talking with them and canceling within the 30 days. They wouldn't hear of it!

Finally, after going round and round, I was told to keep the products and they would refund 30%. This stuff is still going to be returned! I consider it "lesson learned!"

    NEVER fall for this come-on

If you do not read their terms and conditions, you will be duped into a more than full priced promo with a recurring charge every month.

The trial size is 0.5 oz and is overpriced crap. This company has done its homework on self-protection mumbo legal jumbo.

DO NOT buy a Nouveau product!

    WARNING. This is a scam!

    • Los Angeles, CA,

This offer is clearly designed to scam the public. They do NOT send a trial size of the product. Instead, they send a full size and then charge your credit card $89.94! Then they continue to send you the full-size product every month and charge your card $94.88 each time! They claim that you have 14 days from the time of the trial order to return it in order to not be charged. However, this is in fine print and is clearly designed to defraud consumers. It’s a cruel scam and my 85-year-old mother easily became their victim.

When I contacted the company in order to give them the opportunity to make it right and refund the charges, they refused. By the end of the 45-minute conversation, I was told by “Vincent” (Agent #224) that he was unable to provide a refund for what is clearly an intentional scam. When I asked to speak to his supervisor, he said his supervisor “doesn’t take calls.” He then said he could have someone call me back in 24-48 hours. I asked for a name and number that I could call (since I’m skeptical that a dishonest company would, in fact, call me back). I was told that it’s “company policy not to give names and phone numbers of customer service supervisors.”

    Shame on me!

What a joke and I can't believe I fell for it. I read and reread the advertisement and thought I really did my homework. Not! This company will suck you in.

Like the people above mentioned, I thought I was ordering a trial product. The cream didn't have time to work, and I am getting a bill. Luckily, when I called the Navy Credit Union, they had a three-way conversation. The secret seems to be, you have to mention that you are going to take this company to the Better Business Bureau, and then you will get a 100% refund in no time. Before I got off the phone with the rep and this company, I had two emails waiting for me stating that I will get a 100% refund.

    This company makes me furious.

This is nothing but a scam company

If they really had an exceptional product, they would not resort to illegal scam tactics to make their money. They offer to send you a free sample as a trial, all you do is pay the shipping. That is the "got you" and they now have your credit card number, which they will charge with $90-$150 for the next shipment because they will claim you authorized it when you got your sample.

    Do not try this product!

I signed up for the "free" trial of the Nouveau restore and eye creams and only agreed to $4.95 each for shipping. The next thing I know, my bank account has been charged $89 for one and $84 for the other.

I called and told the customer service representative I never agreed to purchase the items and therefore demanded my money back and account be canceled. The rep first offered me 50% off their products to keep my account. I said no. He then offered me 60% off and I said "no," I just wanted my account canceled and money refunded. He then told me because it was over 14 days since my purchase, he could only refund me 35% of my total purchase. I said, "but I never agreed to purchase these items. I ONLY agreed to pay for the shipping for the free trials." He again said, "I'm sorry, but I can only refund you 35% of your total purchase."

Also, I received my "free" trials two days prior to my card being charged, so I have no idea where this person is getting the "14" days from. Either way, DO NOT fall for this scam! This company is a joke and should be reported as a scam immediately!

    Highly disappointed

I would like to inform people that if the product doesn't work out for you, don't expect a refund. I canceled my order and never received a refund! I used the product for two weeks, broke out in a rash on my face and red face like sunburn, and stopped using (that was the samples). The full-size bottles came, and I sent them back unopened. So I was charged for the product that they received back unopened and never was refunded! Beware.

    Would not recommend

No change made in the skin and I have tried to cancel the product but can't get any help. They do charge even when you get no product. I have tried every number I can find on the internet to talk to someone to stop receiving the product with no success. I would not recommend this product, more because of their customer service than the product itself.

      Tracy

I had the exact same problem. I called my bank and they got them on a conference call. It took some yelling on my part, but they did refund me 75% of the total price. The number they gave me is 866-471-8407. I hope this helps you.

    Do no buy!

This product was sold under false pretense. It was advertised that Joanna Gaines of HGTV's Fixer Upper is the inventor of this product, which is the basis of my initial purchase. I found out later that it was not created by her as explained by Joanna in an interview. This company should be ashamed of themselves! I'm glad I only paid $10. I threw it away. Do not buy; it is a CA hoax!

    Stay away!

I ordered the sample products, two products of no more than $10. At no time did I read about being enrolled in an automated subscription. My credit card was charged three separate times to the tune of over $270. My credit card company has filed a dispute. Their company made it very difficult in the communication process. It has been a nightmare!

I would very much like to know how consumers can STOP these sort of scams! They lie and are very crafty about taking your money. The product is of cheap quality, and they are literally sample sized. My warning: STAY AWAY!
