I've had my NuWave induction cooktop for several years now. I use it daily and would recommend it over all the others. It has performed flawlessly and will boil a cup of water in under two minutes in a 1-quart saucepan. It also has the largest cooking surface in its class.

The only weakness so far is that the membrane control surface is beginning to crack at one of the control buttons due to aging and frequent use, but it has had no effect on the operation yet. It produces no waste high-temperature heat, so it is great in the summertime as it doesn't heat up the entire kitchen.

I am planning to get the Pro version in the future for its even larger cooking surface and finer temperature increments.

  • I love it

    Overall Experience:

I had one for five years, and it worked fine. I dropped it and then got a new one, and it works just as fine (the new one is 1500 watts).

  • Absolutely fabulous

    Overall Experience:

We have had our NuWave PIC Gold for four years, and the cooking pans that came with them. We cook on it every day. It basically is the only cooktop we use. We came from our house which had a gas range. The apartment we are in only has electric ranges. The NuWave is like having a gas cooktop. You can go from 425 to 100 degrees instantly. We use our electric stove for keeping food warm. We use the timer/programmer for slow cooking, boiling water in a short time, grilling in winter, omelets, and a host of other cooking. We wouldn't trade it for anything. If it blows up like others have experienced, we will just get another.

  • Exactly what my wife needed

    Overall Experience:

Due to being in a power chair, which limits her ability to get close to our range to cook (or high enough), the PIC was purchased for her so she could sit on the (wood, not carpet) floor in the kitchen (actually used mostly in the living room) to cook. Because she cannot feel herself being burnt, the cool top features are a godsend. Because of her dietary restrictions, she needs to cook healthy (another review mentioned oil frying, which is not healthy; you can fry with the PIC without oil).

If I could offer any negative feedback it is that the PIC cooks so freaky fast she has burnt food, as have I. But clean-up is, as advertised, as simple really as wiping with a paper towel (although we still use dishsoap and water). It most certainly boils water (here at altitude) much faster than our electric range! And cooking time for pasta is notably shorter 2/3rds the time).

The fan is not loud (very similar to fans we use under our laptops) or the least annoying. Probably could cook at the public library. Yes, the PIC is lightweight and very portable.

As to longevity, we've not had the product that long.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

  • Looking to purchase another

    Overall Experience:

We bought our first one about two years ago and liked it so much we then purchased a second one. In fact, we are so impressed with induction cooking that we turned off the gas to our stove, installed a hard top on it and we now use the two NuWave Pro units all the time.

Last summer we bought our third for use in our camper (RV), but we opted for the smaller (wattage) unit for that. In fact just last week I found a 3500w (not NuWave) unit to use in my beer making and intend to get another NuWave as a side "burner" for that. These do work differently than conventional cooktops and learning how to use them is important as it is with anything new. You must educate yourself.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about "expensive cookware." We just use our stainless cookware most of the time. I did find a really nice porcelain lined pan that was "induction ready" and bought it, but only because I wanted it, not because I needed it. I've learned to start at a lower setting and work up to my desired cooking temperature for meats and vegetables, but the heat control is steady and curates as far as I can tell.

So anyway, we now have four induction cooktops and see more in the future for us. I was watching Triple "D" on Food TV last week and these are coming into the professional kitchens now due to the fact that they won't overheat your kitchen.

  • Not a problem with all three in four years

There are no problems here. We use one daily. The second, 4 or 5 times a week. The third, when we go camping. We take the third and first cooktop camping. I bought a set of Amway pans in 1977 and they work just fine with our NuWaves. I have other pans that do not work with our NuWaves.

The first cooktop, we've used daily. We live in a 40-foot 5th Wheel and we're not using the installed propane stove at all. I have several of NuWave's pans and a grill, including the pressure cooker.

We've not had one problem with any of the products we've purchased from NuWave. None at all, even after 4 years, there should have been, but not at all.

I got my NuWave2 from an ad on TV (really don't know how many years ago). Love the thing, use EVERY day. Enough that I wore the factory cover out on the start button, fortunately, has some substantially heavy black tape handy, and as I was applying, was praying button would still work. Hooray, it did. Now, I am preparing to move to a small retirement village apartment and this will be my only way to cook, was hoping to see another bargain ad on TV. Would like to get a new one, it is a good as my current one has been, will last as long as I will, lol. Thanks for a wonderful machine.
