About Omax3 Ultra Pure

Developed by a team of Ivy-League University physicians, Omax3 Ultra Pure claims to be a new omega-3 supplement that can provide a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Sharper mind, mood, and energy
  • Improved memory, cognition, and focus
  • Help managing stress while lowering cholesterol, without increasing LDL
  • Decreased muscle recovery time, improved muscle function, and boosted mobility

In order to accomplish this, Omax3 Ultra Pure is claimed to contain 1.5g of 97% pure omega-3 sourced from Peruvian anchovies and sardines, which, when combined with a patented delivery system and a “revolutionary” 4:1 ration of EPA to DHA, provides you more omega-3 at a greater value than the competition (we’ll talk more about this in a moment). In fact, Omax3 Ultra Pure claims to be the most potent, powerful natural anti-inflammatory available without a prescription.

Omax3 Ultra Pure’s Manufacturing Process

Omax3 Ultra Pure’s manufacturer claims that each batch of the supplement goes through a double molecular distillation process that removes all contaminants, such as PCBs, lead, and mercury, in addition to saturated fats. On top of this, each batch is claimed to include two certificates of analysis that assure purity and concentration.

In order to begin experiencing these benefits, the manufacturer recommends taking 2 easy-to-swallow soft gels per day, preferably with a meal.

Maybe you’ve been reading about the many benefits associated with omega-3s. Or, perhaps your doctor recommend taking an omeg-3 supplement to address a recent diagnosis. Whatever the cause, you want to know if Omax3 Ultra Pure is worth the price. And here at HighYa, we aim to please, so consider the following:

What Are EPA & DHA?

EPA and DHA are long-chain omega 3 fatty acids generally found in fish and shellfish, and which have been clinically demonstrated to potentially relieve symptoms associated with inflammation, and even with dementia and some types of cancer. And while omega 3s still require much more study to confirm these links, the evidence appears compelling.

Is EPA/DHA Supplementation Necessary?

Clearly, EPA and DHA can have a wide variety of health benefits, but is it necessary to take a supplement in order to achieve them?

According to Harvard University, obtaining omega-3s from your diet is generally preferable to supplementation. And although many of us don’t get enough DHA and EPA in our diet, this can easily be changed by eating a 3.5oz serving of fatty fish twice per week.

If you do choose to boost your omega-3 intake using a supplement though, acceptable doses typically range between 1 and 4 grams per day (Omax 3 Ultra Pure provides 1.5g per serving), although you’ll want to speak with your physician before beginning to make sure you’re taking enough to be beneficial.

Is Omax3 Ultra Pure Clinically Proven?

While there seems to be compelling evidence associated with the benefits of omega-3s, is there any clinical evidence supporting Omax3 Ultra Pure specifically?

According to the supplement’s website, “Omax3 was designed to maximize the inflammation-resolving support provided by Omega-3 fatty acids. In fact, a study conducted by physicians affiliated with Yale University, has shown that omax3 Ultra-Pure promotes proper inflammatory responses better than other omega-3 supplements.”

Elsewhere, it’s claimed, “Omax3 has been shown in a clinical study to help people manage their triglycerides as well as normal cholesterol levels when added to a heart healthy diet.” Also, “In pre-clinical testing, Omax3 exhibited increased production of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factors (BDNF) better than other omega-3 formulations.”

The point here is that, although Omax3 Ultra Pure is claimed to have been clinically tested in multiple areas on their website, none of this evidence is made available for review.

Are There Any Side Effects Related to Omega-3 Supplements?

According to the Omax3 Ultra Pure website, the supplement is well tolerated by most users. However, some individuals may experience side effects such as digestive upset and/or a fishy aftertaste.

Also, this article states that there is a close association between omega-3 supplementation and increased risk of prostate cancer. However, as DrHyman.com noted:

“This study used what is called a retrospective case controlled cohort design. Simply put, to make their conclusions, researchers from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center used data from a previous study conducted in 2011 called the SELECT (Selenium and Vitamin E Cancer Prevention Trial). It’s important to note that the original SELECT study did not have the same objective as this current one. It wasn’t designed to determine whether fish oil led to prostate cancer. The fact that both studies didn’t have the same goal calls into question whether the old data is even relevant to the new study. [And] what we can be sure of is that association does not prove cause and effect.”

In short, there isn’t enough data to conclusively link omega-3 supplementation and prostate cancer.

What Do Omax3 Ultra Pure’s Customers Have to Say?

Overall, it appears that Omax3 Ultra Pure has a mostly positive online reputation with customers.

The supplement held a 4-star average rating on Amazon.com based on 25 customer reviews (as of 3/5/15). There, some of the most common compliments appear to reference quality product and improved mood/joint pain. On the other hand, common complaints appeared to reference side effects such as head pressure, nausea, and even withdrawal symptoms, as well as high price and mild fish aftertaste.

LabDoor.com gave Omax3 Ultra Pure an A- rating, ranking it #5 in quality and #37 for value ranking among other fish oil products. Factors that appear to have decreased Ultra Pure’s ranking were product purity and ingredient safety, although no additional details were provided without ordering a full report.

Similar to some of the feedback found on Amazon, a LabDoor user noted that they experienced a fishy aftertaste after using the product, and stated that Omax3 Ultra Pure was no different than any other concentrated fish oil. In fact, they specifically claimed that similar options could be purchased elsewhere for much lower priced.

Finally, Ultra Pure appears to be a “new and improved” version of the original Omax3, and a total of 11 HighYa readers talked about their experiences with the product. Overall, the supplement received an average rating of 3 stars, with some customers claiming to have had great results, while others complained about free trials that turned into expensive purchases, as well as unwanted autoship programs (note: we didn’t find any indication of free trials or autoship programs on Omax3 Ultra Pure’s website, although a trial was mentioned in the Terms). In addition, one customer claimed to have broken out in a full-body rash.

From a company perspective, Omax3 Ultra Pure is manufactured by Prevention Pharmaceuticals based out of New Haven, CT, and holds an A- rating with the Better Business Bureau based on just 4 closed complaints. Most of these appeared to (once again) reference free trials and autoship programs.

Should You Give Omax3 Ultra Pure a Try?

Chopping to the point: When it comes down to it, omega-3s have been shown to provide a wide variety of benefits, whether they’re obtained through food (the preferred method) or through a supplement such as Omax3 Ultra Pure.

However, the number one complaint related to Ultra Pure is its high price; one that many consumers felt was not in line with the benefits they experienced. Because of this, you might want to speak with your physician about other omega-3 options that could provide you with more value for your money.
