What Is One Two Lash?

By HighYa Staff
Published on: Jun 7, 2017

Made from high-quality synthetic fibers and using patent pending micro-magnetic technology, One Two Lash promises to be a game-changing invention that can give you long, gorgeous eyelashes in seconds, without glue, a mess, or an expensive appointment.

In fact, the manufacturer tells us that a pair will cost you a fraction of a single salon session and take only seconds to apply. All you have to do is place one section above your lashes and another below, touch them together, and allow the magnets to click into place.

Once there, the website indicates One Two Lash will provide weightless length, volume, and luxuriousness. Then, when the day is done, you’ll just gently slide the magnets apart to remove.

We all love the eye-popping effects eyelash extensions can have, but they usually come with some steep downsides, like messiness, cost, and the fact that they can damage real lashes.

But have you finally found an affordable, functional solution with One Two Lash? Are there any considerations you should keep in mind? What about the competition?

Here, we’ll walk you through everything we learned during our research so you can make a more empowered decision—starting with the basics.

One Two Lash vs. Traditional False Eyelashes

Despite all your options, FrendsBeauty.com tells us there are really just three eyelash extension categories:

  • Strip Lashes – As the name implies, these consist of many individual lashes attached to a single strip, which can be cut to customize size. Some common materials for these lashes include mink, silk, human hair, or like One Two Lash, synthetic fibers.
  • Individual Flare Lashes – Available in three different lengths, these are applied individually to deliver more volume and length by a professional, and are intended for temporary wear.
  • Individual Single Lashes – These are also applied individually, but are typically worn for longer periods of time.

Regardless of the type, though, the biggest difference between One Two Lash and traditional methods is that the former uses magnets, while the latter use adhesives. And according to One Two Lash, this makes all the difference, since you’ll avoid the time and mess—and cost, in many instances—associated with the old way of doing things.

Will One Two Lashes Cause Any Side Effects?

According to One Two Lash’s FAQ:

“One Two Cosmetics has undergone extensive internal testing. In fact, Princeton Consumer Research independently studied the effects of prolonged magnetic lash use in healthy female subjects, and not a single adverse reaction was found. So you can rest assured that One Two Lash has officially been deemed safe for everyday use.”

They even note that you can use any of your normal eye makeup with their lashes, including eyeshadow and eyeliner, although you should never apply mascara directly. Cleaning can be accomplished with a wet tissue.

However, if you have any pre-existing eye conditions, you should be sure to speak with your doctor in advance.

How Much Does One Two Lash Cost?

How much you pay, and the different options available, largely depends on where One Two Lash is ordered.

On their MakingBeautyEffortless site, the Bold (high volume and length for a “glamorous” look) magnetic lashes are priced at:

  • 1 Case: $69
  • 2 Cases: $138
  • 3 Cases: $207

You’ll also find these same lashes and prices on the main One Two Cosmetics URL. However, you’ll have additional options like:

  • Original Lash – An everyday wear pair with a naturally beautiful look: $69-$207 (1-3 cases)
  • Accent Lash – For a demure look with a subtle curl: $59
  • Filler Lash – A thinner option intended to fill in any gaps: $59

Regardless of which site you order through, it will come with free shipping and a 60-day money back guarantee, less S&H charges.

Important note: Per One Two Lash’s ordering page at the time of our research: “We are making the lashes as fast as we can! Orders placed will ship within 8-10 weeks from order date! Thank you in advance for your patience.”

What Are Customers Saying In Their One Two Lash Reviews?

Back in November 2016, independent blogger PeacefulDumpling had an opportunity to review a set of One Two Lashes, claiming it only took them about 40 minutes of “tedious” practice and trial and error to get them in place. Later sessions only took about a minute, however.

In the end, they reported being underwhelmed by the results, since they didn’t follow the reviewer’s natural lash lines, looked cheap up close, and moving them smeared mascara after application.

On the other hand, Lexi Novak over at Allure awarded the lashes Best Beauty Breakthrough of 2016, while PopSugar claimed they’re a “big fan.”

A Redditor from 2016 called One Two’s Original lashes amazing, worth every penny, and recommended them to “anyone that’s sick of glue-on lashes.”

From a company perspective, One Two Cosmetics is based out Chatsworth, CA and was founded by Katy Stoka. Katy claims she came up with the idea to help her look her best in her role as a Miami, FL real estate agent, while also balancing her time as a mom of two boys.

The company had an A Better Business Bureau Rating and six closed complaints as of 6/6/17, none of which provided additional detail.

Are There Other Magnetic Lashes Like One Two Lash?

In short, no. So, if you’re looking for lashes that can be applied in seconds without any kind of adhesive, One Two is currently the only game in town.

With this said, you might need help picking the best version for you. To provide some assistance, InStyle notes that longer, more dramatic lashes might be best for deep-set eyes, while wispy, wing-shaped options could be ideal for round eyes.

Hooded eyes might be best served with lashes that taper at each end; monolids with less dense, fluffy lashes; and strategically crisscrossed lashes for almond eyes.

Clearly, this means that One Two’s options, which only appear to differ in width and density (we didn’t test any of the company’s versions firsthand) might not suit every customer’s specific needs. And this is to say nothing of the fact that they’re only available in darker colors.

Let’s continue this thought as we come to a conclusion.

Our Final Thoughts About One Two Lash

Whether we’re talking about customer feedback or awards from reputable publications, it seems that One Two’s magnetic lashes really could be classified as a game-changer in the eyelash extension industry. They’re reportedly easy to apply and remove, inexpensive, and could match a wide swath of consumers’ needs.

Does this mean they’ll match everyone’s style and preference? Are they certain to deliver “the dramatic look of professional lash extensions,” as claimed on their website? Just like any other product, whether in the beauty category or elsewhere, no single options will work across the board.

However, One Two seems to stand behind their lashes with a 60-day refund policy, so returning them could be as easy as reaching out to customer support via phone or email if you’re not pleased with the result. Just keep in mind that you’ll lose your return S&H charges, which will almost certainly be minimal.

I found the lashes tricky to handle as they're very small. It takes practice to get them positioned correctly so they look natural. On me, they looked best positioned in the middle-to-outer part of the eye, not on the outer corner, because they don't bend like regular lashes and the ends tend to stick up.

But, worn with mascara, they look full and quite natural. And, once you figure out how to get them on, they go on very quickly.

One issue is that after a few times, they begin to wear off. The red dot indicating the lower lash fades, making it difficult to figure out which part is upper and which part is lower. And the magnet on one lash became partially detached after only three wearings. I hope it will last for a fourth!

I love the lashes. They fit perfectly. At first, they were a little tricky to put on, but I figured it out. I will be buying some more. They look really natural. This is a solution to stop doing extensions! I am very pleased.

My mom told me about One Two Lashes after seeing it on the Today Show. She ordered it for us to both try. I immediately loved them and was excited to wear them for special occasions. The original "original" was 2 pieces and partial coverage. Easier to put on than new full coverage lashes but didn't cover whole eye, so beautiful cat eye corners but somewhat still naked inner lashes.

I attempted to find suitable imposters and ordered online from ads on Facebook, Wish, Trending Beauty, Choicest One, etc. All were CRAP. I even tried them on my girlfriends and nobody looked good in imposter lashes. Quality and packing was pitiful.

We ALL looked good in One Two Lashes! I just ordered the bundle and have tried all styles (Enhanced being my middle ground fave). Full coverage original lashes are long but "wispy" and I prefer a thicker look. Extra Bold is super thick and I will probably only wear those for Halloween. I bet on African Americans or Indian ladies (with darker complexion) the Extra Bold lashes would look fabulous.

I use a metal applicator tool to adjust and fine tune lashes after using the plastic tool One Two cosmetics supplies. I always have to further adjust the lashes but have gotten better. I always use black eyeliner when wearing my lashes so magnets aren't as conspicuous. That's my only complaint with FC original (magnets more noticeable). I also put mascara on first because it helps lashes stick/hold while I manipulate them. The new cleaning liquid is really great for cleaning off this residue from wearing repeatedly.

I have worn mine for months (special occasions only). I wish I had time to wear them every day but as a mom of 2 toddlers, it's not quite in the cards. Maybe one day.

They have survived Zumba classes, crying at a funeral (bonus no raccoon eyes), all day tailgate and windy football game, driving in the car with windows down, and more! I had a few of the smaller bottom lashes fray out from magnet but customer service is sending replacements.

I can't say enough good things about these lashes. I've always wanted luscious doe-eye lashes but failed miserably with glue types. I've found that with these lashes I look and feel so sexy even if the rest of my appearance is a hot mess. I just wish these had been around when I got married. I even put my lashes on my neighbor/friend for her recent family photo shoot.

Love you guys, keep up the good work! I appreciated the black Friday half-price sale too, even though a set is much more cost-effective than the new lash bar phase! Thanks!

  • Do not purchase

Unless you are prepared to wear heavy mascara and thick liner, forget about these. I wanted something to help me avoid that heavy look. The magnets are easy to spot, and I found the full set impossible to put on without the false lash easily seen. Worst money I ever spent on a cosmetic.

I love my full coverage and my non-full coverage lashes. They give me just enough fullness to have that natural look. I would recommend them to all my family and friends. When I put them on and look in the mirror and can feel like I look like a million dollars with my lashes without paying a million dollars to get my look. I feel like I am winning. This has truly been a great investment for me.

  • Excellent

I was a little skeptical at first because I was having trouble putting the lashes on. Once I got the technique down, it has been nothing but popping eyes. Nothing but compliments coming my way!

  • I prefer the original ones.

The original lashes are much better than the full lashes. The full lashes, despite the special tweezers, they are hard to put on. It doesn't go as close to the lid as possible and sits on the center of the lash length, so it makes it look unnatural. I prefer the original ones.

  • Wonderful and fun

I have been using the lashes since January 2017 and for the most part, adore them. I’m a full make-up girl every day of the week, and I use these lashes almost every day. I love the new full-size lashes and was very excited to receive my new sets last month. I bought 2 “every day,” one enhanced and one “date night" set.

My only complaint is that my right eye full, everyday lash lost its magnet on the third wear, so I had to switch to my second set, which I’m glad I ordered ahead.

Other than that, I’ve been very satisfied with the lashes and my husband loves them. My natural lashes are pretty but very blonde and these lashes make me feel super polished, and I hardly notice they are on!

  • Nice lashes, but PRICEY

I have heard about the applicator, but don't have one, so it takes me a ridiculous amount of time to put them on because my lashes curl so much and they push the false lashes apart.

The cost is prohibitive to buying multiple pairs.

I also tried to order the special on the remover, but the site didn't add it to my order and when I emailed, they wouldn't add it.

If only these came with the applicator and were more economically priced and the site worked properly. Let's just say I wish it was all perfect because they look nice when I can actually get them on my lashes.

  • New lash designed release November 2017

I originally purchased and returned the original design, but the new design released last month was a game changer for me. I love my lashes and after a little practice affixing them, they are quicker than applying mascara, and the removal is quick. Gone are the days of rubbing away the mascara makeup, which I'm convinced is what caused my lashes to thin over the years.

The only cautions I would have is don't drop the smaller underneath pieces, or you'll probably never see them again, and practice a bit. I use a smaller metal piece (not the applicator provided) to apply the smaller pieces while I hold the larger piece in place. The applicator provided may work great for others, but it just doesn't for me.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I do love the concept of magnetic lashes. They stay put all day and look so natural. I also like the many options available for the various thicknesses. The only disappointing thing is that one set of lashes lasts about 1 to 1 and 1/2 weeks. I did recently purchase the lash cleanser and am hoping to extend the life of each lash set.
