About Performix Iridium SSTi
Performix Iridium SSTi is a multi-phase super suspension thermogenic supplement that claims to be “precision engineered” with the highest quality, premium ingredients to provide explosive energy, maximum thermogenesis, and peak cognitive performance.
Why are you here? Because you want to know if Performix Iridium SSTi will perform as advertised. Or, if you’ve been in the supplement game for long, to make sure you won’t waste your money on a useless product. What’s the verdict? Keep reading to find out.
Performix Iridium SSTi’s Ingredients
According to iridium SSTi’s product label, the supplement contains 17 “synergistic” ingredients:
Vitamin B12 500mcg
TERRA Pod Ballistic Energy Thermo Beadlet: Caffeine Anhydrous, KSM-66 Synephrine HCl, Coleus Forskohlii extract, Yohimbine HCl, BioPerine Black Pepper extract, N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine.
TERRA Pos Ballistic Sensory Beadlet: TeaCrine Theacrine, Cognizin Citicoline, L-Alpha Glycerylphosphorylcholine (Alpha-GPC), Bacopa Monnieri extract [20% Bacosides], Huperzine A.
Diffusion Carrier Oil Matrix: Medium Chain Triglycerides, Safflower Extract, Rosemary [supplying Carnosic Acid, Carnosol, Ursolic Acid, and Oleanolic Acid.
Of these, there are really only four ingredients contained in Iridium SSTi that have enough clinical evidence showing them to be “possibly effective” for different benefits—all of which relate to mental function:
Tyrosine may help improve mental performance and memory, although existing research only references stressful conditions (like military training). It may also help boost alertness following a lack of sleep.
Citicoline may help reduce memory loss in those between 50 and 85 years old, while bacopa (and its active chemical, bacopin) may help improve some measure of memory and hand-eye coordination in otherwise healthy patients.
Finally, huperzine A might treat some symptoms related to Alzheimer’s disease and improve memory. And as anyone who’s ever had a strong cup of coffee will attest, caffeine can provide a temporary boost in energy and concentration.
Outside of these, there isn’t enough clinical evidence showing that any of Performix Iridium SSTi’s ingredients will provide any of the benefits claimed by the manufacturer—including forskolin, which is a particularly fashionable ingredient found in many modern weight loss supplements.
In fact, several of its ingredients are relatively new to medical science, so their long-term efficacy and safety is largely unknown.
Finally (and not to put too fine a point on it), of Iridium SSTi’s 17 ingredients, only two aren’t contained in a proprietary blend. This means, even among the ingredients that could provide some real-world benefits, there’s no way to know if it contains enough to be effective at all.
Potential Iridium SSTi Side Effects
Although the efficacy of many of its ingredients is in question, the good news is that you probably won’t have to worry about anything other than digestive upset with most of Iridium SSTi’s ingredients (and perhaps flushing from niacin). Despite this, the company recommends starting with one capsule, assessing how your body reacts, and then taking another capsule to reach full dosing.
Important note: The manufacturer also recommends not drinking any caffeine or ingesting any other supplements when taking Iridium SSTi.
In rare instances, WebMD claims that “yohimbe has been linked to reports of severe side effects including irregular or rapid heart beat, kidney failure, seizure, heart attack, and others.” They also note that tyrosine can cause “headache, fatigue, heartburn, and joint pain,” while huperzine a can lead to “sweating, blurred vision, slurred speech, restlessness, loss of appetite, contraction and twitching of muscle fibers,” and more.
Finally, Iridium SSTi contains soy, so be sure to keep this in mind if you’re allergic.
Whew! We had quite a bit to talk about there. What about Iridium SSTi’s unique delivery method? Will it provide any benefits?
Iridium SSTi: A Peek Behind the Marketing
To date, the HighYa team has reviewed 600+ nutritional supplements. When it comes to these types of products, we’ve learned how to disassemble their claims and separate the reality from the marketing hype.
In the instance of Iridium SSTi, the company makes several claims that seem scientific on the surface, but don’t really amount to concrete information if you scratch just below the surface. Here are a couple of examples:
Iridium SSTi Will “Catalyze Physical Intelligence”
First, is the company claiming that you’ll be able to physically measure your increased intelligence by taking the supplement? It’s a very broad term, so we remain unsure.
Second, catalyze means to cause something to happen, generally in relation to a chemical reaction. So, taking these two pieces of information together, are we to believe that Performix Iridium SSTi will chemically cause you to be smarter? Going back to the ingredients section above, there doesn’t seem enough clinical evidence supports this.
TERRA Intelligent Dosing
Perhaps the cornerstone in the Performix’s marketing efforts is their TERRA Intelligent Dosing technology, which the company defines as:
“TERRA Coating is an innovative Multi-Coating Matrix (MCM) technology that targets pH extended release functionality. This offers an advanced delayed release coating system designed with multiple release points to help maximize ingredient performance.”
If your eyes went cross-eyed reading that, it just references the company’s proprietary time-release technology, which they claim can increase the efficacy of each of their ingredients.
By their very nature, time-release medications often feature several layers (or, what Performix calls “Multi-Coating Matrix”) which dissolve at different times when exposed to stomach acid (“pH extended release functionality”).
So, despite all the wordiness, it remains unclear how Performix’s technology is any different—or more effective—than traditional time release technology.
Is Performix Iridium SSTi Expensive?
While everyone’s definition of “expensive” can be different, at $119.99 through GNC ($89.99 for members), Performix priced Iridium SSTi at the upper end of the competition—but not by a whole lot. In fact, of the weight loss supplements we’ve reviewed, most seem to fall between about $70 and $90, so Iridium SSTi doesn’t seem too far off.
What kind of performance can you expect for this price? We’ve already told you what we think based on the available evidence, but what are the company’s customers saying?
Here on HighYa, we’ve reviewed a couple of the manufacturer’s other supplements (Performix SST and SST Glow), which seem to have a middle-of-the-road customer reputation. Based on more than 50 reviews, they had an average rating of 3.5 stars, with common compliments citing increased energy and improved weight loss.
On the other hand, common complaints referenced high price, side effects (usually related to caffeine, such as headaches and jitteriness), and failure to work.
Specifically regarding Iridium SSTi, the supplement had an average rating of 8.5 on Bodybuilding.com, along with a 3.8-star rating on GNC.com, with most claiming that it provided clean energy, stayed strong throughout their workout, and was effective for minor weight loss. Again, most complaints revolved around failure to work (or, if it did work, not as well as the manufacturer claims).
From a company perspective, Iridium SSTi (and all Performix products) is manufactured by Corr-Jensen Labs based out of Centennial, CO. At the time of our research, they had an A+ Better Business Bureau rating, with no closed complaints (as of 3/14/16).
Bottom Line: What Results Can You Expect to Get with Performix Iridium SSTi
Like any other supplement, what works fabulously for one person might be a fantastic failure for someone else. Each of us has our own unique biology, preferences, and goals, which can add up to very different experiences for the same product.
From this perspective, when you’re purchasing a nutritional supplement, we think it ultimately comes down to a question of value. Is it possible that Performix Iridium SSTi could boost your energy, improve your cognition, and help you lose weight? Sure, we’ll be willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.
But, will Iridium SSTi provide a solid bang for your buck? Considering its high price and (mostly) clinically unsubstantiated ingredients, we think you’re definitely rolling the dice.
Be sure to speak with your doctor about Iridium SSTi, other weight loss supplements, and what you can do to help maintain a healthy weight. In the end, we think this might provide much more value for the money than purchasing a bottle of Iridium SSTi.
