About Performix SST Glow
Performix SST Glow is a thermogenic supplement for women that claims to combine the energy-boosting and fat-burning power of their original Performix SST formulation, with a “specially crafted” blend of beauty ingredients that will give you healthy, hydrated skin.
After taking 1 or 2 capsules (depending on your tolerance) of SST Glow, the process works over four phases:
- Phase 1: Known as the Introduction Phase, this is where thermogenesis begins and your mental focus starts improving.
- Phase 2: During this “Chill Phase,” your body temperature will increase and you’ll experience a greater breakdown of fats.
- Phase 3: SST Glow “dissolves anti-adaptive nutrients” to sustain your elevated fat burning and block its reduction.
- Phase 4: This Transition Phase will release a large dose of B12, furthering your mental and physical energy.
You probably noticed that the Performix SST Glow website used a lot of “science-y” sounding words. But we’ll break everything down here so that you can understand what you’re looking at, and then decide whether or not it’s right for you.
Are Thermogenic Supplements Effective for Weight Loss?
Although the phrase thermogenic supplement might sound complicated, it just references a product that can “increase the heat in the body and in turn affect the body's metabolism and ability to burn fat.”
These supplements can feature a number of ingredients to increase heat (more about this in the next section), but common ones are stimulants like guarana and green tea, as well as 5-HTP, choline, and more. But does this increased heat necessarily translate into greater fat loss?
In short, yes, there’s some promising research showing that thermogenics can boost metabolism—but only when combined with exercise. In other words, if you think you can pop a few pills of SST Glow, sit on the couch, and lose 10 pounds, you’re going to be disappointed.
But even if you do take SST Glow and work out regularly, exactly how many extra calories can you expect to burn? Will it even be enough to notice any results? This is where a lot of unknowns come in. For example:
- How many calories are you taking in each day?
- Does your diet consist of lots of sugars?
- How many calories are you burning per day?
- What is your current level of fitness?
- What types of thermogenic ingredients are you taking, and in what quantity?
- What types of prescription medications or other supplements are you taking (some can reduce the thermogenic action)
Clearly, there are a lot of factors that can affect how many extra calories SST Glow can help you burn. But what if we look only at the supplement’s ingredients? How effective are they for weight loss?
Performix SST Glow Ingredients
Based on the supplement’s label, here’s what we’re told is in SST Glow:
- Vitamin D3 2,000IU
- Niacin 8.5mg
- Vitamin B12 850mcg
- Performix Super Beauty Complex 1,203mg
Of these ingredients, vitamin D, niacin, and B12 supplementation is generally effective for treating a wide variety of conditions, but there isn’t enough clinical evidence showing they can increase metabolism or otherwise help you lose weight.
Also, the nervous system stimulants like caffeine and bitter orange can temporarily boost your energy and provide a more intense workout, and can even briefly reduce your appetite. But again, there isn’t enough clinical evidence proving that either of these can directly help you lose weight.
Finally, Lipowheat is a proprietary ingredient formulated by PLT Health Solutions, who claim it’s been shown to increase skin hydration by an average of 63%. However, none of their clinical evidence is made available for third-party review, so we can’t be sure how accurate they are.
Outside of these, there’s essentially no evidence showing that any of SST Glow’s ingredients can boost your metabolism, improve brain function, or help you lose weight.
Despite its fuzzy effectiveness, will you experience any negative side effects from Performix SST Glow?
Possible SST Glow Side Effects
The good news is that if you experience any side effects at all from SST Glow, it will probably only be mild digestive upset. But you might also experience flushing from niacin as well as jitteriness from caffeine—especially since we’re not told exactly how much the supplement contains.
But perhaps the biggest threat to your health contain in SST Glow is bitter orange. Why? Because according to WebMD: “Bitter orange is POSSIBLY UNSAFE when taken as a supplement for a medical purpose such as weight loss. Bitter orange, particularly when taken with stimulants such as caffeine or caffeine-containing herbs, increases the risk for high blood pressure, fainting, heart attack, stroke, and other severe side effects.”
Again, we’re not told how much bitter orange is in SST Glow, which makes it that much more important to talk with your doctor before taking it.
Performix SST Glow Cost
Performix SST Glow was available through GNC.com at the time of our research and was priced at $109.99 for 60 liquid capsules (member pricing was $74.99, and you could also save an additional 5% by signing up for the autoship program).
If you don’t want to sign up for a membership, the supplement can also be purchased through Bodybuilding.com and LuckyVitamin.com for $74.99.
Obviously, how long you’ll have to return your bottle of SST Glow and the specific conditions will depend on the retailer, so you’ll want to ask before purchasing.
Customer Feedback for Performix SST Glow
On GNC.com, three customers had provided feedback about SST Glow at the time of our research, giving the supplement an average rating of 4.7 stars. There, most compliments seemed to reference good weight loss results and increased energy. However, more than one consumer mentioned that its price was way out of line with the competition.
Outside of this, however, there weren’t any other online customer reviews available.
Also, over 50 HighYa readers provided feedback on the original Performix SST formula, giving it an average rating of 3.5 stars. Many customers noted that the supplement really can help you lose weight without side effects, but others complained of failure to work, increased heart rate (even to the point of panic attacks), nausea and vomiting, as well as fever-like symptoms.
From a company perspective, Performix is operated by Corr-Jensen Labs based out of Centennial, CO. They had an A+ Better Business Bureau rating at the time of our research, with zero closed complaints (as of 11/25/15).
The Bottom Line on Performix SST Glow
Overall, many customers who purchased the original Performix SST formulation seem to have experienced some level of increased energy, as well as minor weight loss. Is this in line with the supplement’s ultra-high price? Only you can make this decision.
But it’s important to keep in mind how dangerous excessive stimulant levels can be, especially when talking about bitter orange. And this caution should be even stronger since we’re not told exactly how much SST Glow contains.
Having said this, we don’t think the Lipowheat contained in Performix SST Glow (or any of its other ingredients) will provide visible skin moisturization, so the results you experience might not be meaningfully different than you would with the original.
Even if Performix SST Glow worked exactly as it claims though, remember that increased energy or body temperature doesn’t necessarily translate into boosted metabolism or increased fat loss. Instead, the only reliable method of losing weight and keeping it off is eating right and exercising regularly.
