What Is PoraxinRX?
PoraxinRX is a male enhancement supplement that claims to potentially bolster your sexual function in a variety of ways using an all-natural formula. The product’s creators state that it may increase energy levels and sex drive, while also boosting your staying power and promoting overall vitality.
The supplement is positioned as an alternative to FDA approved prescription erectile dysfunction pills that may not be effective for everyone.
So, knowing this, how exactly does erectile dysfunction affect the body, and what can be done about it?
A Science-Based Look At Erectile Dysfunction
The Mayo Clinic defines erectile dysfunction as the inability to get and keep an erection firm enough for sexual activity. Symptoms aren’t limited to this, however, as reduced sexual desire in general can also accompany erectile issues. Causes can vary, but in general, they include the following:
- Heart disease
- Clogged blood vessels (atherosclerosis)
- High cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Certain prescription medications
- Tobacco use
- Alcoholism and other forms of substance abuse
- Sleep disorders
- Surgeries that affect the pelvic area
The Mayo Clinic also reports that it isn’t just physical issues that can trigger ED; mental issues like depression or increased stress levels can also play a part. So, what can be done if you are experiencing erectile dysfunction?
Treatment options include established oral prescription medications such as Sildenafil (Viagra), Tadalafil (Adcirca, Cialis), Vardenafil (Levitra, Staxyn), and Avanafil (Stendra), as well as penis pumps, and even surgery and implants in more severe instances, when other options have failed. But what about supplements like PoraxinRX?
According to WebMD, the FDA has seized many male enhancement supplements in recent years due to their potential to include dangerous or undeclared ingredients. The FDA’s website recommends that you be wary of supplements that:
- “Promise quick results (within 30 to 40 minutes)
- Are advertised as alternatives to FDA-approved prescription drugs
- Are sold in single servings
- Advertise via spam or unsolicited emails
- Have labels written primarily in a foreign language
- Have directions and warnings that mimic FDA-approved products”
Because PoraxinRX is advertised as an alternative to “the blue pill” (Viagra), we’ll need to take a closer look at the ingredients used in its formula to determine how effective you can expect it to be.
PoraxinRX Formulation Ingredients
On the product’s website, we are shown that the ingredients used in PoraxinRX’s formula include a 1,484mg proprietary blend of horny goat weed extract, tongkat ali extract, saw palmetto extract, wild yam extract, nettle extract, sarsaparilla, orchic substance, and boron.
So, can any of these be expected to meaningfully improve your sexual function?
Based on this list, a few have been reported by sources such as WebMD, Examine.com, and The Mayo Clinic to provide similar benefits, such as:
- Boron, which may increase free testosterone levels.
- Tongkat ali extract, which may improve sperm count and quality in infertile men.
No optimal dosage information was reported, and it’s important to keep in mind that since this is a proprietary blend of ingredients, we don’t know how much of each substance is in use in the formula. We reached out to the company multiple times, but they informed us that they did not have access to this information.
Outside of these two, the sources listed above do not report any accounts of the remaining ingredients being able to improve sexual function, staying power, or overall energy.
What about any side effects stemming from these ingredients?
Possible PoraxinRX Side Effects
Like any supplement, there is always the potential for side effects when taking PoraxinRX.
Regarding specific side effects, WebMD lists that:
- Horny goat weed might cause dizziness, vomiting, dry mouth, thirst, and nosebleed, as well as spasms and severe breathing problems.
- Saw Palmetto might cause dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea.
- Boron, when taken by mouth in doses greater than 20 mg daily may be harmful to male fertility.
Other than boron, no specific dosage information or circumstances were reported on any of the other ingredients used in the formula.
The Mayo Clinic reports that dietary supplements can cause side effects and also potentially dangerous interactions when taken with certain medications, and as a result, they recommend talking with your doctor before taking any of these pills or herbal remedies.
PoraxinRX Pricing & Return Policy
As of this writing, PoraxinRX was available exclusively through the manufacturer as a free trial. When you go to place an order, you’ll be prompted to pay just $3.86 for a 30-day supply of the product, though this is not the final cost.
The terms laid out on the website state that you have 14 days to evaluate the product’s effectiveness, after which you’ll be billed the full amount of $89.84 and entered into the company’s autoship program. Under this program, you’ll continue to receive a new supply of the supplement each month, and your credit card will be billed accordingly.
To stop this from happening, you’ll need to call customer service at 855-214-7699 before the end of the trial and request a cancellation. As for a return policy, the terms state that only unopened products can be returned within 30 days of shipment. You will be required to pay return postage as well if you choose this route.
The Bottom Line: Should I Purchase A Male Enhancement Supplement Like PoraxinRX?
Here at HighYa, we’ve reported extensively on various male enhancement supplements, and as we learned above, reputable sources such as WebMD list that many of these products have not been shown to be particularly effective, or even safe in some instances, because of the potential for dangerous or undeclared ingredients.
With this in mind, what should you do?
If you’re set on trying an over-the-counter or online solution, consider the following when making a purchasing decision: What is included in the formula? Have these ingredients been clinically shown to effectively deliver on the manufacturer's main claims? Also, how closely does the supplement line up with the warnings issued by the FDA and detailed above? Finally, are there any potentially expensive autoship or free trial programs associated with the purchase?
Based on what we’ve learned about PoraxinRX’s ingredients, as well as the autoship program and inability to return opened products, we feel that talking with your doctor before making a purchase would likely be the most reliable way to ensure you get on the fast track to an effective treatment.
