    Defective non-stick insert

    • Nova Scotia, Canada,
    • Apr 20, 2018

After using my sister's Power Pressure Cooker XL, I received my own. I was very excited.

Unfortunately, after three (that is correct, three) uses, the non-stick coating started to come off the insert.

My local store wouldn't take it back, so I contacted the company, to be told the following:

    Please stop using the pot.

I was told to make sure the liner was cooled off before washing it.

You will need to purchase a new liner.

Given a phone number that is long distance (no toll-free number).

Their lack of empathy, sympathy and terrible customer is like none I have ever experienced before. I am dealing with a manufacturer's defect. I have not ever used anything but a soft spatula in the pot. In the video on the website - Eric uses a metal spatula.

I am so very disappointed, as now I have a Power Pressure Cooker XL that I can't use, and the company won't help me.

Sadly, I don't recommend the pot based on my customer service.

    Teflon peeling off

I purchased the 10-qt pressure cooker. The Teflon in the bottom of my pan is peeling. When I called customer service, they informed me that I was going to have to purchase another inner pan at the cost of 20 something dollars. And that these inserts need to be replaced every six months. No one ever mentioned that to me when I purchased this pan, had I known that I would have never spent that kind of money.

I would not recommend this company to anyone, they do not back up their product when this is actually a defect. I don’t use harsh chemicals of any kind nor do I use and metal utensils in my cooker. There are no scratches or anything in the pan, so therefore this is manufactured defect. Very disappointed.

  • My Power Pressure Cooker worked for about 6 months

My Power Pressure Cooker worked well for about six months, up until the timer system went haywire and just did this ding dang thing and failed altogether. Yes, it cooked my ribs just fine as well as making pulled pork, but the company needs to recognize the cooker's problems and get back to the drawing board.

Use and satisfaction with the Power Pressure Cooker XL

My wife and I bought this cooker 3 years ago at Walmart with the thought that if it didn't work well, we would return it.

We had vegetables at home so I bought a chuck roast, figured it would be a good test. We got home late but unpacked and washed the unit. I browned the roast, cut up some onions, added celery, potatoes, carrots, garlic, and about 3/4 cup of beef broth. I put the lid on set it at 80 kPa for 45 minutes. The end result was a great pot roast in about 1 and 1/2 hour. You can't do that in an oven.

Since then I use it at least three times a week for everything from oatmeal to mac & cheese. We love the easy cleanup and the speed you can cook things. I don't like to cook from frozen, but I have done chicken and pork chops from frozen and had great results. Dried beans are a breeze, so easy; I always use them in my chili now.

There are some things you can't do in a pressure cooker like roast chicken, but I cook my chicken in the cooker for 40 minutes and then brown it in the oven, which cuts cooking time way down, and by using chicken broth and/or sherry and some veggies, you force the flavor into the meat. These work the same as a stove top pressure cooker with less work; you have to add some time to your cook times as they don't get to 15 lbs or more of pressure. I love it and couldn't do without it!

    Customer service

I need a part, and it has been hell, and I am still not close to getting it. I tried to tell them that my address is physical only, no delivery, and that please put the PO Box as UPS likes to drop packages off at USPS and then I never get the item. He refused to put the whole address down so I asked how it would be shipped, and he said who knows it goes how it goes. Then he told me to try eBay or Amazon, maybe they could help me.

The cooker is actually good, but once you buy it, then they basically don't give a blank once they get their money. You can go buy another one. Their website is horrid. Why can't they just let you order what you need party wise online instead of sending you to india? I am just so sad about this. I really love the product, but can't use it. Wow, bad customer service.

    Do not buy

We had invited 15 people over for lunch. The pressure cooker would not work. Left us without dinner and hungry people. Really embarrassing. We expected to at least to use it once.

Do NOT buy through mail order. It costs $50 to ship it back if you do not like it. The cord is too short. It cooks okay, but I found I can cook many things in a rice cooker and get the same results (it just takes a little longer).

    Horrible customer service

While using my power pressure cooker, a fused burned. I called the company, and they require one to send in the cooker to be repaired and to include $24.99 for shipping product back. So $50 round trip to replace a $2 part. Their competitors sell the fuse needed for their products.

I will never purchase this brand again. I strongly advise against purchasing this brand.

I have a PPC780 Pressure Cooker. I was cooking with it and it stopped heating up and the control board in the bottom is burned up. I am trying to buy a new control board, but no luck yet. I am waiting to hear back from the company.

  • Why did I wait so long

I hesitated for years on buying one of these. I always said it was too good to be true. When someone in the family bought one and began to talk about it on Facebook, I found that someone else in the family had one for years. They had nothing but high praise for it. End of hesitation. I ordered one the next day and have not one regret. You do have to acclimate yourself to how it operates, but once you do, you will love it.

    Poor communication/shipping, wrong/damaged product.

I ordered online. I ordered the 6-quart Pressure Cooker, an extra 6-quart Inner Pot, and was "awarded" the 9 and 1/2-inch copper pan.

I got one FedEx tracking number but didn't even receive an acknowledgment or invoice until we called and inquired why we only received one item (the "free" copper pan.) I had to request the invoice to get one. It came in three shipments. No packing slips were included with any of the shipments.

No foam/popcorn/paper packing of any kind with the copper pan or an extra 6-quart inner pot. The inner pot was simply placed in a box and naturally was oblong by the time it arrived.

I ordered a 6-quart cooker, but received an 8-quart. The reason was they were "out of the 6-quart and they upgraded to the 8-quart." What good is ordering an extra 6-quart inner pot (sounded like a good idea at the time) with an 8-quart cooker?

It is gonna cost $30 and all the hassle and time for this, including writing a stinkin' review. So much for the convenience of having it shipped to your home. While the product may work as advertised, this sort of service is unacceptable. If you really want one of these, do yourself a favor and get it from a retail outlet.
