Excellent product

By Sheryl F., Virginia, Verified Reviewer

I have been using PrettyLitter for two months now and I LOVE IT!

No more huge heavy bags for me to carry and no more ugly smelling litter box. I noticed that my male cat wasn't acting like himself, and didn't know why. I looked at the litter box and saw his urine had a lot of blood in it and immediately took him to the vet. I disagree that the cats do not track it out of their litter box, because they do, but it is not as much, and it isn't the big pieces it is more like sand. I have been able to scoop the dry poop and put it in my toilet as it gets dried out by the litter, and I flush it. I had my qualms when I first ordered it, but I highly recommend it.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Disappointed

By Jason C., New York, Verified Reviewer

PrettyLitter claims to be dust-free but it's not! Every time I scoop I can literally see the dust as if it was smoke. I have videos as well so can prove it anytime. Also, since it doesn't clump up, you can't really get the urine out. Every time I walk by the litter box, it smells bad. I clean the litter box sometimes twice a day and it's still the same thing. I've been using PrettyLitter now for almost a year and the cons outway the pros.

Yes, it's very lightweight and one bag may be good for a whole month with one cat, but the dust cancels all of that out. I have to wear something over my nose and mouth just to scoop the litter...that's pretty bad. I will be changing litter very soon.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Thanks for sharing your experience Jason. We're sorry to hear your experience was less than perfect. We're currently in the process of pilot testing a clumping litter and we'd love to send you a complimentary bag to see if that helps with the issues you've been experiencing around saturation and dust. A member of our team has reached out to you directly to learn more and see if our clumping option might be a good fit.

Every cat is different, but this is worth trying!

By Courtney G., California, Verified Reviewer

Short: I would definitely recommend PrettyLitter! Controls the odor very well and it's not nearly as gross to clean out the litter box as it is with clay litters.

Long: I started out using PrettyLitter in May of 2019 for a couple of months and thought it worked really well, but the price is a little high so I switched to a couple new kinds of litter with similar promises at a lower price point. They did not live up to the odor control claim, and one was so displeasing that my cat was trying to go elsewhere in the house. After two months of exploring, I'm back to PrettyLitter, because again, odor control works really for my cat, it's lightweight, makes the litter box less gross to clean out, and my cat has no problem using it. The health monitoring is more of a benefit than the main reason I use it. It lets me know when my cat is feeling too stressed*, which happens a lot with her (she's a high anxiety tortie).

Additional Thought: The claim that their litter is less expensive than leading competitors isn't accurate. It's a pricey litter, but it is well worth the price.

*I used to think my cat had a problem with UTI's, but after finding my new vet I learned that the high alkaline urine, which usually points to a UTI, could be (and in my cat's case it is) stress related. The litter is often blue, which was alarming at first. Now I'll just look for any other color changes going forward.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

25% more

By Ashley M Kwiatkowski, Fairbanks, AK, Verified Reviewer

I like this product and I like that I only have to scoop feces. I like that for my system, I can flush the feces. However, I think there should be about 25% more litter. I’m running into at about day 15-20 that my cat tracks more due to excess moisture. My cat is no longer a kitten, and he now has a bigger bladder. My family is on a tight budget, and I can’t afford two bags of litter for one cat. This litter is already a luxury for us.

Missing bags of litter

By Kosha Dholakia, New York, Verified Reviewer

We've ordered 24 bags of litter but received only 16. We contacted PrettyLitter customer care about this, and they said they will check back with FedEx and get back to us. It has been ten days, and we've to follow up on the complaint. Nothing has been done as of now, and I am not hopeful of anything happening anyway.

The litter is good and customer care is polite, but they won't go out of their way to help you AT ALL.

We're already optimizing our claims process to make sure this doesn't happen again, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention. As always, we're here to help. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything else we can do.

I really wanted this to work

By Aya H, Burlingame, CA, Verified Reviewer

I wish PrettyLitter would have worked for us, but unfortunately, I gave it multiple tries and it's still a "no go."

PrettyLitter is super lightweight and the main reason why I purchased it was so I can monitor my cat's health. Since there were so many reviews saying how there are no odors, I was really looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, the litter box ended up smelling like pee after just a few pees. I contacted customer service and ended up going in a circle instead with no real resolution.

I really tried to like and try this product, but I can't stand the smell and noticed my cat was going to the bathroom less.

I would try it out for yourself though, maybe it's just my cat! There are others who love this product, so you should try it and see if it'll work for you.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Sounded too good to be true (and it was)

By Ashley Izor, Newport News, VA, Verified Reviewer

Like most other cat owners who heard about PrettyLitter, I was SO excited to try a new litter that promised less scooping and most importantly, no smell! I purchased my bag on 3/12 (arrived 3/14), and it's now 3/28.

It seems that I have the same issues the other 1-star reviewers had; week one was great, but the urine odor was noticeable at the end of the week. This week the whole downstairs smells HORRID and it's just unbearable. I really wanted this to work out, but it's back to the old litter I go.

Now I have to contact customer service and get my subscription canceled before they send me another bag of this junk. I just hope customer service isn't as terrible as other people are saying.

Some extra details for the review team:

- I purchased a new litter box prior to adding my PrettyLitter to ensure proper depth. I purchased a box size that was recommended on the PrettyLitter website.

- I used the card to measure the depth, and it was correct.

- I have one cat.

- The box was not placed in a humid area.

- I scooped the box and sifted all the litter around daily.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Thank you for sharing your feedback, Ashley. As you know, PrettyLItter was designed so one bag lasts one cat, one month. I'm interested to know why your PrettyLitter only lasted two weeks! Odor control is a serious benefit of using our product, and I'm sorry to hear it didn't work for your household. We have recorded your experience, and I'd love to follow up with you for more information to determine what might have happened. Your feedback means the world to us. Please send me an email at meow@prettylitter.com (Attn: Cassie), and I would be happy to reach out to you directly and chat with you more about your experience. I look forward to hearing from you soon, and thanks again for sharing your thoughts.

PrettyLitter or gold. Which is cheaper.

By Edward Burleson, Tucson, AZ, Verified Reviewer

I received a broken Priority Mail envelope with a 2lbs bag of litter stuffed inside. When I open the envelope, I had litter all over the place. I compared the amount litter received against my standard sized litter box. It would take four 2lbs bags of litter to fill the litter box. That's $84.00 a month. I really can't give an opinion about the quality of PrettyLitter or how well it works because even the litter reached an wiped the cat's butt, it would not be worth it. Even if it worked perfectly, no litter is worth $1,008.00 a year (shipping is not even included).

The litter is made in China, so you know it very cheap to make. I don't mind a person making money, but I don't want someone to use the love of a pet to rip me off. Obviously, this is sold by a Vet because if you examine your own Vet, you'll find this tactic is used by more and more Vet every day. I am beginning to think this is being taught in Vet schools.

So, the end result is I think this PrettyLitter is useful to get rich, and if you think your cat has issues, find an honest Vet. I'd be much cheaper in the long run.

Thanks for your feedback Edward. I'm sorry to hear about your damaged order. Were you able to contact customer service and reported the damaged bag? We're happy to send you a replacement.

I'm also happy to clear up any questions about our product and pricing. PrettyLitter ships 4lb bags, and one bag is designed to last a month for one cat in a medium sized litter box. If you happen to have a larger litter box and need more PrettyLitter, we could set you up to receive 2 bags of PrettyLitter (8lbs total) which would be $39/month. You can also customize your frequency, so you're always getting the litter you need when you need it. I also wanted to be sure you knew that offer free shipping within the contiguous US!

I want to be sure we sent you a replacement for your damaged bag, so you can at least give it a try. Please email meow@prettylitter.com and we'll be happy to help. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts with us, and let us know if there's anything else we can do to help!

Knew it was too good to be true!

By Diane H., Houston, TX, Verified Reviewer

I have two cats and have only been using PrettyLitter for two weeks tomorrow. My cats seem to like it, I love the convenience of not having to run out for litter every week and the daily scooping is a breeze. However, it has only been two weeks and the litter box smells of urine, which I never had an odor with regular litter. Plus it does cost more than what I always paid for litter. For me, it will never last a month. I knew it was too good to be true.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Company Response from Pretty Litter Inc.

Thanks for reaching out and sharing your experience, Diane! We'd love the opportunity to help. Odor issues are usually caused by not having enough depth of PrettyLitter in your litter box. We recommend filling each litter box to a minimum of two inches per cat. That usually means one bag per cat, but it can vary! There are many different sizes of the litter box, and it sounds like yours might be on the larger size (which makes sense if your cats share).

We want to make sure you get to experience PrettyLitter's advanced odor control technology as intended, so please email us at meow@prettylitter.com (attn: Cassie) and we'll make this right for you! We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Love the concept, but...

By Tee W., Atlanta, GA, Verified Reviewer

I love the idea of this type of long-lasting, clean-smelling, low-dust litter. There are a number of non-clay litters that promise this, clumping and otherwise. I've just about tried them all. The other litter claiming 30+ days in between litter box changes is America's Best. It actually has every attribute claimed by PrettyLitter, plus it clumps nicely. But, it is beyond dusty, coating EVERYTHING within the vicinity with red dust every time my boy sifts the stuff. YUK.

Another one actually is Nature's Miracle (and it's economical) corn-based litter. The issue there is that it sticks to the side of the box. So, when I saw this crystalline powder and all these promises, including spending no more than I currently do, I got excited to try it. Suffice it to say, it is not economical in the least when the 3-4 lb bag can't provide the requisite two to three inches of kitty litter for a large litter box. I would either need two bags or a very small litter box. My boy is big. He's not a monster (despite what I call him).

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Smells AWFUL

By Lorin O., Albertson, NY, Verified Reviewer

Do not waste your time. When you mix the litter as directed, it smells so incredibly bad. The smell lingered in my house for days. I literally wanted to vomit. The odor is overwhelmingly horrific. Although prior to mixing the urine around, the litter didn’t smell at all.

Thanks for sharing your experience Lorin. We'd love the opportunity to make PrettyLitter work for you. It sounds like the reason your litter box started to smell was that you didn't get enough depth in your litter box. Everyone uses litter boxes of all shapes and sizes and this can effect the duration and odor control of PrettyLitter. Please email us at meow@prettylitter.com (attn: Marissa), and I'll be happy to help you find the perfect amount of litter for you and your little one. Looking forward to talking with you!
