About Pro Shred Elite

Advertised as an advanced strength booster and fat burner, the Pro Shred Elite dietary supplement promises to contain a proprietary formula that can help you increase natural energy levels, gain muscle, boost your definition, break through plateaus, increase erection hardness, and improve sexual performance.

In fact, the manufacturer advertises that the proven supplement is based on a discovery that won the 1998 Nobel Prize for Medicine, so you can expect extremely lean, ripped muscle and fast fat burning within weeks, the safe way. And after you begin taking it, the website indicates you can expect results in minimal time.

While all of these claims sound great from a marketing perspective, are Pro Shred Elite’s ingredients clinically proven to deliver the strong and sexy body promoted by the manufacturer? Let’s answer all of your important questions by starting with the fundamentals.

Basics Behind Muscle Growth & Leanness

Writing on the University of New Mexico website, Young sub Kwon, M.S. and Len Kravitz, Ph.D. explain that, “When muscles undergo intense exercise, as from a resistance training bout, there is trauma to the muscle fibers that is referred to as muscle injury or damage in scientific investigations.”

As a result of this damage, the body creates new cells that fuse to muscle fibers and form new protein stands, which thereby increase the size of the muscle and also incrementally increase its strength.

However, even if your muscles are huge, if a layer of fat covers them, you won’t be able to show off all of your hard work. This is where fat loss comes in.

Here, by consuming fewer calories than you expend (what’s known as a calorie deficit), your body begins burning its existing fat reserves. If continued long enough, this can decrease the fat surrounding your muscles and potentially carve a leaner, more vascular appearance.

Outside of standard diet and exercise, is there anything contained in Pro Shred Elite’s formulation clinically shown to deliver improved muscle growth or fat loss?

Taking a Closer Look at Pro Shred Elite’s Ingredients

There wasn’t a supplement facts label listed on the Pro Shred Elite website at the time of our research. We reached out to customer support for additional details, although we were informed it is a third-party company who doesn’t have any information other than what’s provided on the manufacturer’s site.

Nonetheless, we were able to pick out two ingredients from the Pro Shred Elite website that are supposedly found in the formula:

  • Carnosine
  • Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate

The HighYa team isn’t staffed by clinical or medical professionals, although according to websites like the Natural Medicines Database, Examine.com, and WebMD, there is insufficient clinical evidence indicating that carnosine supplementation can provide any meaningful benefits in humans.

On the other hand, since it converts into nitric oxide (the discovery of which won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1998) inside the body that can widen blood vessels, these sites cumulatively list arginine as possibly effective for conditions like chest pain (9 to 18 g per day), erectile dysfunction (5 g per day), and high blood pressure (no dosage listed).

However, it’s important to emphasize that we don’t know how much of each ingredient is contained in Pro Shred Elite, so we can’t know if it matches the dosages found in supporting clinical studies.

There were also four seemingly unrelated links referenced in the footer of the Pro Shred Elite website at the time of our research:

  • A 2005 study conducted by the Wake Forest University School of Medicine indicating that nicotinic acid derivatives can potentially benefit women experiencing female pattern alopecia.
  • A 2002 review looking at the relationship between nutritional factors and hair loss.
  • A now-defunct link on the University of Maryland Medical Center website.
  • A 2012 study looking at the effectiveness of a dietary supplement to “increase hair growth in women with thinning hair.”

Could Pro Shred Elite’s Ingredients Cause Potential Side Effects?

These same sites indicate there isn’t “enough information available to know if carnosine is safe to take for medical conditions.”

And while they indicate that l-arginine is generally safe, WebMD points out that it can cause side effects such as “abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, gout, blood abnormalities, allergies, airway inflammation, worsening of asthma, and low blood pressure.” No dosages or specific circumstances were noted.

They also indicate that l-arginine could have moderate interactions with high blood pressure and nitrate medications, as well as sildenafil (Viagra).

How Much Does Pro Shred Elite Cost?

The only way to purchase Pro Shred Elite is via a 14-day trial, where you’ll start by paying $4.95 S&H for a full-size bottle.

If you don’t call customer support at 844-4PSHRED (477-4733) within this time, the website indicates you’ll be charged the full price of $79.97 ($87.47 per the terms). You’ll also continue receiving a new bottle of Pro Shred Elite once per month and billed $87.47 each time until you call customer service to cancel.

Outside of the initial trial, all purchases come with a 30-day return policy, less S&H, although this only applies to unused, unopened bottles.

Considering everything we’ve covered up to this point, what does the future hold for you and Pro Shred Elite?

Pro Shred Elite vs. Other Muscle Growth Supplements: The Bottom Line

While there are perhaps thousands of muscle growth supplement formulations available, it’s difficult to sufficiently compare these options against Pro Shred Elite, since we’re told so little information about its ingredients and dosages, and third-party customer support was unable to provide additional insight.

Suffice it to say that the vast majority of competing supplement contain carnosine and/or arginine, and often in the dosages supported by clinical evidence (when applicable).

Zooming in and taking a closer look at the company, Henderson, NV-based Pro Shred Elite held an F rating with the Better Business Bureau, based on six customer reviews and nearly 50 closed complaints, as of 6/13/18.

Most of these appeared to revolve around difficulty obtaining refunds, whether during or after the 14-day trials, and the company failed to respond to all but three.

Considering the lack of basic knowledge about the formulation, the company's almost wholly negative online customer reputation, the supplement's high price, and the fact that it's only available through a free trial, we'd strongly recommend speaking with your doctor before placing an order. After asking the appropriate questions and ordering any tests, they can recommend science-backed treatments that might deliver maximum bang-for-your-buck.

    Pro Shred scam

I had ordered the free trial on April 5th. They debited my account for more or less $175 on the eighteenth. You were supposed to have two weeks which would have been the 19th. But they told me my trial had expired even though it was still within the two weeks. Then when I told them to cancel my account the guy told me he could give me 55% off. Said no, canceled it, and changed my card number as I didn't trust them. There are so many negative reports. And you can't trust anybody you have to spend an hour just to get their number. They should be shut down.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I ordered the product and wasn’t satisfied with the product and call the customer service to cancel and after canceling the service. A week later I got charged the full amount and when I try to get information to return what isn’t used the customer service told me that I can’t get a refund and hung up on me.
