It was pretty good

By Katlin ,

I was breaking out and I didn't know what to do I had tried Clearasil and I broke out really bad on my forehead (where most of my acne consist) and then I was using Oxy for a while then it slowly stopped working and then I turned to original proactive and it work but it did the same thing as Oxy and then right before I was about to quit Proactive plus came out then I have been trying it for a while and it had been mostly clear but sometimes I'll have black heads and pimples and I've been trying to use the lightener and it doesn't seem to be getting rid of my scares so I'm going to try Murad but if it doesn't work in going back to the Proactive plus.

Yeah customer service has its down times

By Ashley , Houston, Texas

I've used both lines of proactive. The original I used for almost four years and then it quit working all the sudden. Come to find out they made a change to the original formula in preparation to develop the new line. I was devastated. For that year in between old Proactiv and new Proactiv, I searched in vain for a new skin care line from Sephora high end brands and drug store brands. Nothing worked for me like Proactiv. When the new Proactiv was launched I was ecstatic. I ordered right away. Yes, I agree customer service usually sucks.

They do hustle the kits on you. So watch your charges. But I always did get my refund. You should use a prepaid card instead. While I agree it's expensive, it's comparable to middle higher end stuff at least price wise. But it does perform. The eye cream they give me for free sucks. I prefer my Clinique or Lancôme, but my skin is clear except for the occasional pimple. My mom and sister never had any luck with Proactiv. I think you either love it or hate it. But either way what have you got to lose?

Proactiv Plus or Minus.

By Ashley , San Jose, CA

I'm 18 years old and when I was 13, I got horrible acne on my forehead and pimples on my chin. I got the original Proactiv because Clean & Clear Neutrogena and Clearasil didn't seem to work. I used Proactiv Plus once a day and it cleared up my face. I don't remember how long it took but it cleared it. I stopped using it and it all came back except on my checks now. I needed Proactiv but instead there was Proactive Plus. I figured it would be better so I got it.

Would buy again

By Indre ,

I wish I had started to use this many years ago. So I use Proactiv Plus for 3 weeks and my skin never looked better while using just cosmetics (only with pills it looked better). I use them 6 days a week and on 7th day I use hydrating masks and other treatment. I saw some peeling of skin after first 3 days, but then I started to use smaller amounts. Now it's all gone. Got several bumps, but pores are smaller, no redness or oily cheeks. My skin is mixed to oily and dehydrated. I can see older spots are drying. Recommending to friends.

Yes, It works

By Deasia Johnathan , Florida, NY

Immediately after using Proactiv my skin responded and started to clear. Although Proactiv works effectively, your skin begins to become dependent on it. After my skin cleared up for about a month I stopped using it and noticed I began to break out again.

It's okay

By Jessica Kim, Studio City, CA, Verified Reviewer

I tried this when I was younger and yes it did help me, but it was very harsh. I feel as if you can get just as effective results using natural products without the harsh ingredients.

I would recommend for people to at least try it, as I did gain some benefits from the product.

Good product, terrible customer service

By Marianne M., Leicester, United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

I first ordered this product in January 2019 and was impressed, so I ordered a second batch. However, apparently, I had inadvertently ordered a repeat order (which isn't clear on the order form) and as a consequence, another parcel arrived the next day with a 90-day order at a cost of £80. I immediately queried this with customer service who explained that I had ordered a repeat order, I said that this was a mistake and therefore I would like to return it and requested a returns label. The representative said they did not send out returns postage labels and it would cost around £4 to return. I was unhappy with this but he then said that if I wished to keep the product, they would charge me £45 as a goodwill gesture and they would cancel the repeat order. I thought that this was a fair compromise as it was a good product (even though it is expensive).

However, on checking my credit card statement the other day, I noticed that I had again been charged £30! I rang the company up and was told to wait whilst they checked my original phone call (even though she had told me what it said on my order)! After a long wait, the girl said she was unable to trace my original call but they would cancel the last payment and would not charge any further payments. However, I said that this was said previously and so requested an email confirmation. the rep assured me that she would email, but two days later and I have still not received this email Due to the terrible customer service, I would not use or recommend...

OK but price too high

By Jem McRary , Washington D.C.

I found this new iteration of Proactiv Plus to at least be a little better than the last. It is less drying. I still feel like a few of the other products I have used recently are both better and cheaper.

Buyer beware.

By Cindy , Houston, TX

I started with the 30 day supply (smaller bottles). After 30 days I didn't see a significant change in my acne. So, of course, I started using the bigger sized products when the smaller bottles were done and I waited 60 days to see if my skin would improve. It did not. So I decided to return the products for my money back guarantee. Well I only got refunded for the larger bottles which is what I sent back. The smaller bottles I had used and thrown away after they were finished were not refunded. Make sure you save them even if you are done with them so that you can get your money back if the system doesn't work. I called and even spoke to a supervisor. They are worthless and did nothing. I am glad they didn't work, because I hate to do business with companies that don't care about being 100% behind their product. I now use Alpha Hydrox and it's working wonders. And so much cheaper. Google it.

Cancel item

By Debbie , Ellicott city md

Canceled before my next shipment and they still charge me and send more. I returned it back and it's been 3 weeks and I got charged again. And all they can say "I'm sorry it that it's been 4 to 6 weeks and that's why you got charged again".

Not what I expected

By Deborah , Philadelpiha, PA

I'll start with some background. I'm a teenage girl (don't want to give my age) who suffered with really bad acne during my transition to puberty. Acne doesn't run in my family, my older brother suffered with mild acne during his transition into puberty and it cleared up within a year. As I got older my acne got a better bit by bit with time. My skin after that was never perfect. I started out with normal whitehead pimples on my forehead black heads on my cheeks and acne scars. By the time I was thinking about ordering Proactiv Plus I had a bunch of noticeable black heads acne scarring, and pimples that only came around my period, not as bad as when I hit puberty. My mom never trusted all those acne products she saw on TV because I'm an African-American, she believed that those products didn't work for all skin types. But, after hearing about Proactiv Plus from a few of her friends and co-workers she gave in and ordered it.

After using the 30-day supply I didn't see much of a difference other then the fact that those period pimples began to go away, but I wasn't amazed because they always eventually do. My mom decided she'd order the 3-month supply next. To make this part short I developed cystic acne, it seemed like my black heads spread down my cheeks and my pimples were actually bright red. Mind you I'm dark skinned, not dark, just dark enough that I if I blushed you wouldn't notice, that part really shocked me. My acne had drastically worsened. After reading a few reviews I found that people were saying that they had noticed that their skin was terrible for a few days but it cleared up and that's when they saw there results. Seeing that gave me some type of hope so I kept using it.

My acne would not ease up. I got pimples on my chin, cheeks and nose when I usually only get them on my forehead. My mom called the company, they gave her some crap that it takes six weeks to pull out impurities and then clear them up (note: this was a month and 2 1/2 weeks of using Proactiv). By the second month these pimples became like a see-saw, if one went away another one had to pop back up. My mom called again, they gave her the same pulling out impurities nonsense. That day she canceled our membership. I noticed that simply washing my face with a Neutrogena cleanser got rid of the mess Proactiv left me with. All in all, this product messed me up big time. With this product my skin was at it's worse, I'd never seen my face the way it had been. Also, they were very misleading with prices. I don't know if it's because of my race or if it just simply didn't work , but the product gave me no justice.
