For millions of us, joint pain is a constant in life. Especially for those living with arthritis, it can feel as though there is no escape from the constant stinging and aching that can occur seemingly at any time, in any place.

Despite this, escape is exactly what Dr. Chris’ Roll On Relief product is offering. The makers of the topical roll-on pain reliever make bold claims about its effectiveness, saying that its FDA-approved formulation numbs and relieves pain anywhere on the body, instantly.

So, how does Roll On Relief claim to work, and can you actually trust that it’ll make a measurable impact on your arthritis pain?

In our report, we’ll take a look at the company’s primary claims, examine the ingredients used within the product, and lean on authoritative sources to determine whether or not it’s worth your time and money.

How Roll On Relief Claims To Work

According to the product’s website, Roll On Relief attacks arthritis pain from two angles; firstly, it numbs the surrounding area for immediate relief of your pain. Secondly, it claims to relax the affected muscles, “pushing” inflammation out of the body, which they state can offer a longer-lasting relief.

In the product’s TV commercial, Dr. Chris makes the claim that many competing products simply use the sensation of hot and cold to mask the pain, whereas Roll On Relief gets to the source of the issue, easing the muscles and joints causing inflammation and discomfort.

In order to separate hype from substance, we’ll need to drill down further and take a closer look at the core ingredients found within Roll On Relief. By doing so, we will be able to better understand how effective the product may ultimately be for you.

Understanding Roll On Relief’s Ingredients

Based on information from Roll On Relief’s website, we know that it utilizes a topical formulation including:

  • Magnesium
  • Glucosamine
  • Menthol

We reached out to the company’s customer service line for more information, but they let us know that a full list of active ingredients was not available for the product. We were also not informed of the dosage amount of each of the three active ingredients in this product.

Without knowing if this is the complete list of active ingredients included in Roll On Relief’s formula (or their dosage amounts), it may be difficult to say with certainty how effective it may–or may not be for you.

That said, what do authoritative health sources such as WebMD, The Arthritis Foundation, and have to say about these three primary known ingredients?

Though it has many potentially beneficial uses, none of the sources we listed above reported any potential for topically-applied magnesium when it comes to reducing joint or muscle pain.

As for glucosamine, both WebMD and report that it does have the potential to reduce joint pain from arthritis when taken by mouth, but both sources list the effects as being relatively minor.

Finally, WebMD notes that Menthol is a common ingredient in pain-relief creams, due to its ability to “distract” the user with sensations of hot and cold. Aside from this temporary relief, there were no longer-term effects noted by any of our sources.

Taken all together, we’re left at a bit of a vague crossroads with respect to how effective Roll On Relief might be. On the one hand, glucosamine and menthol do have some supportive evidence of their ability to ease joint pain in those suffering from arthritis.

However, in these cases, glucosamine was only reported as beneficial when taken by mouth, as opposed to a topical solution, and menthol was only noted to be a simple distraction from the pain, not “long lasting relief”.

Potential Roll On Relief Side Effects

We didn't encounter any evidence of significant side effects resulting from the topical application of any of the three primary ingredients found within Roll On Relief.

That said, without knowing the full, comprehensive ingredient list, we’re unable to say for certain that you won’t experience any harmful side effects when using the product.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns about any product, we’d recommend reaching out to your primary care doctor before proceeding.

Roll On Relief Pricing

As of this writing, Roll On Relief was available exclusively from the manufacturer’s website. It was priced at $19.99, plus any applicable state tax, though shipping was listed as free. In addition, a “double offer” was available, allowing you to add a second Roll On Relief for an additional $6.95.

The fine print on the website lists that every order comes with a 90-day money-back guarantee, minus any processing and handling fees.

The Bottom Line: Can Roll On Relief Really Alleviate Your Pain?

When we review what we’ve learned about Roll On Relief and its potential for providing long-lasting joint pain relief for arthritis, we’re left with more questions than answers.

We found that authoritative sources like WebMD and did show some evidence supporting glucosamine and menthol for pain relief, but the former was only reportedly beneficial when taken by mouth in specific doses, and the latter was listed as a minor, short-term improvement.

Seeing as the makers of the product promise it will be able to provide “long-lasting relief” from muscle and joint pain, we question whether we have enough evidence to fully corroborate these claims at this time.

That said, if the three main active ingredients listed on the website are the only ones used in the product, you may be able to experience some minor, short-term relief from your pain, according to the sources listed above in the ingredients section.

We reached out to customer service to try and find out if there were any other active ingredients in use with the product, but were told that they did not have this information available.

If you do decide to give Roll On Relief a try, be sure to take a look at the product info on the bottle before using it, and keep in mind that you do have a 90-day money-back guarantee to take advantage of, should you find that it isn’t for you in the end.
