About RxGenesys

By HighYa Research Team
Updated on: Feb 16, 2016

Formulated by Jeffrey Gibson MD, RxGenesys age-defying stem cell skin care products are clinically proven to reduce wrinkles by 50% in just two months, while also improving your skin’s firmness and elasticity.

The anti-aging line achieves this by using RxGen Stem Cell Technology, a “next generation skin bio-enhancer” validated by Nobel Prize Award winning research. All you need is three minutes per day and you could see “breakthrough, revolutionary” results in as little as 10 days—without any known side effects!

All of this is why Dr. Gibson calls RxGenesys “the most powerful weapon against aging.”

Reading through the RxGenesys website, your eyes might have glazed over with all the long, science-y sounding words. But you need some no-nonsense, down-to-earth information so that you can make a better purchasing decision, which is exactly we’ll provide here.

Let’s begin with the story behind RxGenesys.

How Did RxGenesys Come Into Existence?

Recently, we had the opportunity to speak with Kirsty Barany-Gibson, CEO and co-founder of RxGenesys, who provided some great insight into the company, their products, and their mission.

The Desire to Help Women Feel Better

According to Kirsty, the idea for RxGenesys is rooted in her husband’s line of work. Over the years, Dr. Jeffrey Gibson (more about him later) has worked with a lot of patients seeking reconstructive surgery after the devastating effects of breast cancer. Generally, they’re in their late 40s, have experienced a great deal of stress, and have been subjected to aggressive treatments, all of which has led to premature aging.

Frequently, they’d turn to Dr. Gibson and ask, “What can you do to make me feel 100% again?” After being asked this enough, he started formulating his own creams based on existing ingredients, although he found they only worked about as well as other OTC products. He wanted something more though, so he started looking at new research.

After learning about new developments in stem cell research (we’ll dive into this topic later) and related technologies suitable for skincare, Dr. Gibson reformulated his cream, which ultimately delivered “impressive results.” This included relieving common concerns like dryness, irritation, and wrinkles, improved skin tone, and an overall healthier appearance. In a very real way, he was “solving his patients’ problems.”

Stem Cells for Normal Signs of Aging?

Over time, Kirsty increasingly began noticing her own wrinkles, so she asked herself, “Should I get Botox? A filler? Something else?” Then, she remembered all the success her husband’s patients were having with his cream, and wondered if it could help reduce the signs of aging on her otherwise healthy skin.

And it did! In fact, Kirsty claims that (what would later become) RxGenesys gave her “amazing skin,” over and over again. So she said to her husband, “Everyone out there is looking for something like this that works.” Something that could actually solve problems, reduce wrinkles, increase elasticity, and boost radiance.

To match the beauty needs of most women, Dr. Gibson took his original formulation and made it less harsh, but equally effective. This way, it would be rich but not greasy, and wouldn’t ruin your makeup. RxGenesys was born.

RxGenesys’ Research Phase

With their new formulation, Kirsty and her husband began interviewing research companies to see, from a clinical standpoint, if other users would experience the same outstanding results.

Ultimately, they decided to go with Princeton Research (again, we’ll talk more about them in a minute), because they used both US and EU research protocols, and they knew the company would submit the product to the most stringent tests available. This included a double blind clinical trial consisting of 80 participants, where results were based on user perception and scientific measurements, including skin moisture, elasticity, wrinkle size and depth, and more. And it passed with flying colors!

RxGenesys Partners with Kevin Harrington

However, once they had all of this “marvelous” research behind their product, the RxGenesys team learned that they’d have to retail each jar for $300 to $600 just to make a profit. So, in order to reduce their costs, the newly formed company partnered with Shark Tank investor Kevin Harrington, who specializes in direct response television.

Instead of being viewed as “just another infomercial product” though, Kirsty wanted to make sure that their advertisements presented all the fact and science upfront, instead of basing everything on broad details and hype. Kevin developed a campaign around this central idea, and the infomercials should start airing at the end of February on stations like WE, PopTV, TLC, A&E, TruTV, Lifetime, and Universal HD, as well as local networks (NBC, ABC, etc.).

In the end, Kirsty knows that RxGenesys is a small player in an enormous industry. She also knows they’re fighting an uphill battle against the bad reputations that plague so many cosmetics and infomercial products. But Kirsty believes that between the company’s science-backed claims and highly positive customer reviews, RxGenesys has a real opportunity to succeed.

Now, let’s find out how the company plans to do this by taking a closer look at each of the products in RxGenesys’ lineup.

Which Products Are Included in the RxGenesys System?

Overall, the RxGenesys system is comprised of four different products:

A soothing cleanser that contains biomimetic peptides, knotgrass extract, green tea extract, hyaluronic acid, and a vitamin B5 moisturizing vita-complex.

Simply apply two pumps to your palm or washcloth and work into a nice lather. Even without fragrance, RxCleanser smells nice and clean and is very effective at removing all your makeup.

Because of its effectiveness, you’ll want to avoid washing your face with RxCleanser more than twice a day, which could make your skin dry.

A nourishing face crème that contains many of the same ingredients in RxCleanser, in addition to vitamins C and E.

After applying RxCleanser and patting dry, use two pumps of RxMoisturizer and apply gently and evenly by starting in the center of your face. Allow the moisturizer’s ingredients to penetrate for at least 30 seconds for best results.

Known as a “Radiance Renewal Crème,” just two drops of RxIlluminator brighten your complexion and perfectly readies your skin for makeup (or, you can choose to go without).

Simply start in the middle of your face or neck, apply in an upward and outward direction, and allow it to penetrate your skin for at least 30 seconds.

The RxVital Night Routine is intended to be applied right before you go to bed in lieu of the RxIlluminator cream.

Here, you’ll receive the highest concentration of the RxGen Complex, which will repair your skin as you sleep, leading to “beautiful, younger looking skin.”

Now that you know more about what the RxGenesys system contains, let’s briefly talk about the stem cells used to formulate it.

Stem Cells Basics

Over the years, you’ve probably heard the phrase “stem cells” hundreds of times, and about the promise they hold for treating (and potentially curing) a wide range of debilitating diseases. But what are they, and can they be used to reduce the signs of aging?

Stem cells are “unspecialized cells that have the ability to differentiate into many cell types that exist within the body of an organism.” Specifically, pluripotent stem cells can become any other type of cell, while other stem cell forms are limited only to certain kinds of organs (e.g. muscle and bone, nervous system and skin tissues, etc.).

Need a new kidney or lung cell? How about a brain neuron or a heart cell? Pluripotent stem cells can do it.

Sounds promising, right? Well, let’s dig in a little more to see what science says.

Does RxGenesys Contain Any Stem Cells?

Undoubtedly, there is a solid amount of clinical evidence showing that stem cells can address hundreds of different medical concerns. In some instances, they might even help us look younger.

But here’s the catch: Products like RxGenesys don’t actually contain any stem cells. Not a single one. Instead, the company claims:

“Adult human Fibroblast cells serve as the starting point for obtaining our key ingredient, RxGen Adult human Fibroblast cells are processed in a Southern California lab using our patented process to harness their pluripotent capabilities. Through a special process, we take our induced pluripotent stem cells and produce our exclusive RxGen extract which is added to all our RxGenesys formulations.”

According to RxGenesys’ co-founder, this is because the research behind the 2006 and 2012 Nobel Prizes of Medicine basically makes the need for embryonic stem cells obsolete. In other words, it’s possible to reprogram these cells and create a “lab generated molecule that acts as a growth molecule”—or, as the company calls it, a “stem cell extract.” This way, RxGenesys contains no stem cells, but can provide many of the same benefits.

From there, this stem cell extract is contained inside a polysaccharide (sugar-based substance) shell, which conditions skin and improves the absorption of the extract. It also means you’ll get “great results but no side effects”!

Alright, what about the research for RxGenesys’ products?

Are RxGenesys Products Clinically Proven?

RxGenesys claims their products are clinically proven to decrease your wrinkles by 50% over the course of 2 months. Specifically, 100% of study participants noticed a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and an improvement in the level of moisture, while 94% noticed a visible improvement in their skin’s radiance and complexion.

To support these claims, RxGenesys references a 2015 study that involved 71 subjects between the ages of 35 and 70, which took place over the course of 8 weeks February - April, 2015. Princeton Research conducted this study using observational data and self-perception questionnaires, along with clinical tools to assess pore size, skin firmness and elasticity, moisture content and humectant properties, and skin tone and brightness.

Ultimately, most participants (80%+) found that RxGenesys helped reduce fine lines, deep wrinkles, and age spots; increase moisture, glow, and evenness; and improve complexion, elasticity, and texture.

All 65 pages of the study are available at the link above, so if you’re interested in poring through the data, we’d certainly recommend it. And it’s fairly rare for companies to release their full study, so we have to give RxGenesys kudos for that.

Overall? We’re certainly not medical experts here at HighYa, but based on our experience everything seems completely legit, and RxGenesys appears to have some solid clinical evidence in support of their claims.

Alright, we briefly touched on Dr. Jeffrey Gibson above, but let’s take a closer look next.

Who Is Jeffrey Gibson MD? Are His Products Popular?

Jeffrey Gibson MD is a recognized surgeon within the cosmetic, reconstructive, and hand specialties, and who also owns and operates a private practice in Miami, FL that focuses on aesthetic procedures and wound healing. Obviously, Dr. Gibson is also the person behind RxGenesys products. But are they well received by customers?

On Amazon, the RxGenesys Premium Beauty System had an average rating of 4.3 stars at the time of our research, based on 10 customer reviews. There, common compliments referenced effective results, clearer skin, and easier makeup application.

However, nearly all of these reviews were posted within a couple weeks of one another (one reviewer even mentioned this specifically). Many also came from accounts where this was their only review, or where all reviews were posted in a very short period of time. Co-founder Kirsty Barany-Gibson personally replied to this individual’s review, stating:

“Thanks for your comment. We totally understand where you're coming from. As you know people usually write when they have a problem, not when everything works as promised. That being said, we were receiving several requests from potential clients to hear from our current consumers, so we sent an email to all of them asking to share their experience. The ones that answered did leave the reviews just immediately after the communication was sent. Hence the proximity in date of all the reviews.”

Since writing our original review, six HighYa readers have left reviews for RxGenesys products, giving them an average rating of 5 stars. Again, most of these were posted within a short period of time, probably due to the same explanation Kirsty provided on Amazon. As with Amazon, all reviews were glowing, full of:

  • “ … nothing short of awesome.”
  • “ … results were more than I could have imagined.”
  • “After just a couple of weeks I started seeing amazing results.”

From a company perspective, RxGenesys had an A rating with the Better Business Bureau at the time of our research, with no closed complaints.

How much will you pay for the RxGenesys beauty system?

RxGenesys’ Price and Recurring Shipping Program

To receive your RxGenesys products, you’ll first pay $39.95. This includes:

  • RxCleanser (100ml)
  • RxMoisturizer (50ml)
  • RxIlluminator (30ml)
  • RxVital (30ml)

Then, you’ll continue being charged $39.95 each of the following two months, bringing the total for your 90-day system to $119.85.

Thereafter, a new RxGenesys kit will be delivered to your door every 90-days, and you’ll continue being billed $39.95 per month (plus $9.99 S&H) each time.

All RxGenesys products come with a 60-day refund policy, less S&H charges. In order to request a refund, you’ll need to call customer service at 855-792-3288.

Is RxGenesys Really “Redefining Skincare”?

We’ve reviewed more than 200 of the most popular anti-aging products here at HighYa, and in a lot of cases, they 1) fail to back up their claims with clinical evidence, and 2) come with low customer satisfaction ratings. The word “scam” gets dropped a lot—and recently, many have also claimed to contain stem cell-based ingredients.

Given this, we initially met RxGenesys with a great deal of skepticism—we’re here to ask tough questions, all aimed at helping you become a more informed shopper. But CEO and co-founder Kirsty Barany-Gibson quickly reached out and took the time to talk about her product, why she’s so passionate about it, and why it just might be different than much of the competition.

What do we think? Everyone’s skin is different, so what works flawlessly for you might end up as the biggest fail for someone else. But RxGenesys is a legitimate company with a product they wholeheartedly believe in, a solid amount of evidence to back up their claims, and very high (if limited) reviews from customers. And if RxGenesys doesn’t work for you, you can always take advantage of their 60-day refund policy and the company will also cover your shipping and handling charges.

  • A good product but not amazing!

I purchased directly from their site and used RxGenesys for over a year when I was 48 years old then canceled my subscription. I have fair combination skin, sometimes sensitive with age spots, large and small pores, fine lines, and wrinkles. I followed their directions completely. I did see some improvement to my skin tone and texture and no improvements in my pores, fine lines, and wrinkles. I have a small face, thin, and tall. I am not a large person. I say this for a reason. The main problem I found with RxGenesys is they provide in their Complete Beauty System Kit the largest bottle in their cleanser 3.38 fl oz and a smaller bottle of their moisturizer 1.79 fl oz in which I ran out of before receiving my next shipment, which was very disappointing and discouraging. After using this kit for a year receiving a new shipment every 3 months, I had several bottles of unused Cleanser and always ran out of the moisturizer early. My face and probably yours does not require double the amount of cleanser to the moisturizer. I figured, of course, they are going to provide you with a whole lot less of the "key" and main ingredient; their moisturizer.

The revitalizing serum is only a 1.01 fl oz bottle but a small nickel size amount spreads and applies very well all over your face. The serum works well and does make your face peel and shed skin (exfoliate) the first 2-4 days of use until all your dead skin and cells are swept away and then it maintains your improved texture, so it’s important to use the serum every day or the process of a deep exfoliating starts all over again. The Illuminator was just OK for me. I stopped using this product for 2 reasons. One, I ran out of moisturizer early all the time, and two, my skin tone and texture reached a plateau, like my face didn’t improve anymore and it did nothing for my pores, fine lines, and wrinkles. I would rather have a larger bottle of moisturizer as my skin soaked it up quickly even after a year of using it.

Every face is different and products work differently for everyone. I just did not find this product to be amazing or a must-have. There is no fountain of youth out there that can reverse the signs of aging. And if or when you cancel, plan on 1-2 more shipments as they deduct your payment way in advance on your shipments and they won’t credit anything and stop the last shipments. But if you want to go through all the trouble of shipping it back for credit after you receive it you will get it, it takes a few months. Your account will finally and completely end about 3-6 months after you cancel. At least that’s how it was for me. I would recommend this product and kit if I saw an improvement to pores, fine lines, and wrinkles and more moisturizer was provided.

    Recommend to everyone I know

I tried this product because I read a Paulina Parizkova interview where she stated she would never endorse a product without actually using it herself. She went on to say how much she believed in this product's claims. I tried it and have had great success. I noticed, but it's others that have made comments like "you look like you did when I met you. What are you using?" This coming from people I have known for 10-15 years. I too am a believer in this product's claims. And it costs less than most other products I have used (and like most women I have used A LOT!). Give it a try. You have 60 days to make your own decision.

We are the owners of alternative therapies and spa here in Winter Haven, FL. We visited the spa exhibit in Ft. Lauderdale last Sunday, October 24.

We stopped at the RxgGensys booth and had a very interesting conversation and had a lot of info was given to us. I did buy the product and started using it on Monday. Nobody knew, but me.

Last night my husband asked me what I have been doing lately because my skin looks so much better. I had noticed a difference after 2 days only but waited for someone else's comment. Well, I got it and he started using the products today. I'll keep you informed on our progress.

In only one week of use my skin is changing. It feels soft, clear and radiant. Can't wait to see the results in a few more months. So excited. Was going to have facial plastic surgery but going to put it off for a while to see if this product will tighten up my skin. Lost 60 pounds and you know what happens when you lose weight. Everything goes south.

    Absolutely amazing - must try!

    • By Stephanie,

Really, this product will work wonders on your skin. I noticed small changes in my skin within just a few weeks of use. I noticed major changes after a couple of months. Overall, RxGenesys brightened my complexion, evened my skintone, and smoothed fine lines that I have noticed gradually appearing as I have gotten older. I love that this product is a complete system, it has cleanser, lotion, illuminator, and vital. These four products were able to replace the multitude of other products I was using on my face. The system is also very easy to use, it comes with great directions. I especially love that the cleanser removes all of my makeup and leaves my face feeling really fresh. I have also noticed that when using the product my makeup goes on better and stays on longer, in fact, I have not had to use as much foundation as I used to because my skin tone has improved drastically. The products smell great and have not bothered my sensitive skin at all. I highly recommend RxGenesys. I know that if others try it, they will love it as much as I do! If you are looking for a facial skin care system that does it all, then try this is it - highly recommended, you won't he disappointed.

    Love it!

I've been using RxGenesys for about a year now, and I love it! I first started using it because my skin was always dried out from using a face wash with salicylic acid, which was great for small breakouts, but sometimes left me dry and itchy. My experiences with RxGenesys have been nothing short of awesome. Most facial moisturizers caused me to have small breakouts from time to time, but I haven't experienced this with RxGenesys. I will continue to use this product and have recommended it to several friends. I still use it even though I've now grown out a beard. It smells great and dries well on the skin. I always hated moisturizers because they felt greasy on my face, but I don't have these issues anymore. I will continue to use it because of the time I spend on the beach. In combination with sunscreen and RxGenesys, I'm confident my skin will remain healthy longer!

I started using Dr. Gibson new skin care line in March of last year 2015. At 60, one wants to look there absolute best so I gave it a go! The results were more than I could have imagined. The lines around my eyes were the first to go in weeks, I experienced results! Today my skin is soft, firmer with the glow I had years ago. The skin care line is affordable and it works, which for me, was the operative word. I highly recommend this product.

    A Miracle for me

    • By Paula ,

I was one of the first RXGenesys customers. I am 63, a breast cancer survivor, and an avid tennis player. All of this played a huge part in severely damaging my skin. I really thought it was hopeless until Dr. Gibson ask me to try RXGenesys. I was skeptical at first because I had tried other products that didn't seem to help. After just a couple of weeks I started seeing amazing results! The deep wrinkles and fine lines on my face and around my eyes were disappearing and the texture of my skin was changing. I was so excited I sent them pictures. I am now hooked on RXGenesys and panic when I start to run out. I have never used a product that gave me such wonderful results. I would highly recommend this product for any age. It's been a miracle in my life.
