Founded in 1997 and based out of Garland, TX, SkinCeuticals manufactures high potency, pharmaceutical-grade skincare products that are intended to treat signs of aging, promote healthy skin, and prevent future damage. According to the SkinCeuticals website, their product line is based on research provided by Dr. Sheldon Pinnell, who also acts as the company’s founding scientist and chief medical advisor.

In addition to its products, the company is passionate about sharing its knowledge with the world through causes such as the Melanoma Research Alliance, and sponsorship of the Young Investigator Award. From a media perspective, SkinCeuticals has been featured in numerous industry magazines, including Elle, Allure, Good Housekeeping, Marie Claire, InStyle, and many more.

From a customer satisfaction standpoint, SkinCeuticals maintains an A- rating with the Better Business Bureau, and has only one closed complaint within the last three years. Online reviews appear to be overwhelmingly positive, with the most common complaint being the product’s high prices.

SkinCeuticals products can be purchased directly through the company’s website, or through an “authorized dermatologist, plastic surgeon, medical spa, or other qualified premium skincare professional.” To locate an authorized retailer near you, you can visit their locator page.

Calling themselves a “cosmoceutical” company, SkinCeuticals claims they’re different from the competition because all their products are “backed by science,” and “contain three fundamental elements:

  • Prevent: Avoid future damage.

  • Correct: Repair previous damage.

In addition to skincare products, SkinCeuticals also provides in-office products such as chemical peels, as well as specialized treatments intended to complement any medical procedures you’re currently undergoing.

SkinCeuticals Shipping & Refund Policy

SkinCeuticals provides a 90-day refund policy on all its products, which must be accompanied with their original packing slip and packaging. In order to initiate the refund process, you’ll need to contact the Customer Care department for a Return Authorization number at 1-800-771-9489, between the hours of 9am and 5:50pm Eastern Time, Monday-Friday. Refunds will be applied to your credit card on file, and can take up to 30 days to process.

However, it’s important to keep in mind that the above refund policy only applies to products purchased directly through the SkinCeuticals site. Products purchased through other retailers will be subject to their individual return policies.

Bottom Line: Do SkinCeuticals Products Really Work?

Based on our research, most SkinCeuticals customers appear to be happy with their overall experience. The most common complaint seems to be the high price, especially when comparing its performance to lower priced items available elsewhere on the market.

However, the company has been in business for the better part of two decades and is legitimately interested in providing high quality, well-researched skincare products. As such, assuming the relatively high cost of SkinCeuticals products fits within your budget, they appear to be worth a try. Keep in mind though that not all products are going to work with all skin types, so it may take some trial and error before finding the right combination to suit your needs.

    Amazing products.

I have been using SkinCeuticals for about seven years. Everyone asks me what I use on my skin. I am always told I don't look my age and they can't believe it when I say my age (which is 45 now). I have used almost every product going from my 30's to my 40's and love all of them. They are worth every penny.

    Corporate office is incompetent!

I ordered $5,000 worth of product from this company for our aesthetics office and cannot begin to tell you how many problems I ran into with just one order. After numerous issues just getting the order in, I was overcharged by $540, and they couldn't even tell me why my order was off. They also overcharged the taxes by $300.

When I canceled the order, they flat out lied to me and told me they had contacted American Express to release the $5,000 hold they had on my credit card. Now five days later they still have not released my $5,000! I cannot and will not do business with a company that treats their clients like that. There are many good skin care companies out there that treat their customers better, so please stay away from SkinCeuticals!

Terrible online ordering and awful customer support!

First, SkinCeuticals products are awesome, but their online ordering system and customer support are awful! I have been using their products for several years, EVERY TIME I order something from them the order goes through and about a week later I receive a notification that the order was canceled. I understood that this could happen the first time, but for it to happen every time is a disgrace! Every time they say that I had something wrong with my credit card address or some other issue - I contacted my credit card company and they said they had approved the charge, so this is a straight out lie! I will never order from SkinCeuticals again (I am not saying I would not purchase their products, just not from them). This company (Loreal - the parent company) could make so much more money if they just got their stuff together!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

My first purchase was a complete farce.

Placed an order for the hydrating B5 cream which is pretty expensive...they offered a free sample but it did not arrive with the cream. When I called to ask about it, they said they are out of stock so therefore you just don’t get them...she then told me "you should’ve read the small print." Irene the customer service agent couldn’t have cared less. I asked to escalate it, however, she told me there was a procedure I would have to go through and she would have to take my details all over again even though they were on the screen in front of her and that someone called Daniel would call me later. I won’t hold my breath...Why advertise products are going to send then not send them. If they didn’t have what they said they were going to send in stock, they should send a replacement, not just leave it out of the order and not mention it until you call.

I think it’s a bit of a scam. I am returning the cream because the customer service is crap.
