About Sleep 8
Sleep 8 claims to be a light-eliminating sleep mask that also blocks ambient noise, which they say will help you have a more restful night. They tout its unique contour design and built-in sound mufflers block out light from all angles as well as noise.
There is no information about who makes or sells Sleep 8 on their website or the Better Business Bureau. Therefore, there is no rating or accreditation on the company.
How Sleep 8 Works
Sleep 8 is essentially an oversized sleeping mask with a velcro-type fastener on the back. To use, place on head before going to bed (not recommended for use while driving.) They claim it adjusts to fit any size noggin and won’t slip, no matter what position you sleep. They add that the satin material is lightweight and stays cool. Sleep 8 also covers the ears, and they tout it has sound-dampening material to reduce noise like a television or snoring.
Sleep 8 says studies show that melatonin decreases as we age, and that using their sleeping mask naturally increases melatonin levels with darkness. (A graph chart on the site allegedly shows melatonin levels as they correspond to ages 1-90, but no specific evidence is shown that the product increases melatonin or that melatonin is related to a good night’s sleep.) The “8” in Sleep 8 refers to the number of hours of rest they claim you will have.
They claim Sleep 8 is great for a deep, restful night’s sleep for everyone, including people on day shifts, airplanes, those with migraines, and more. They say other masks with elastic bands are uncomfortable and can move in the night, letting in light. They exclaim you will sleep like a baby while wearing Sleep 8 – we presume they mean an infant that doesn’t wake up every 3 hours crying for mama.
Each Sleep 8 Order includes:
- Sleep 8 LIght Eliminating Sleep Mask
- 1 “free” (extra S & H)
Sleep 8 Pricing, Shipping, and Returns
Sleep 8 can be yours for $10 plus $6.99 S & H for a total of $16.99. At the time of order, you have the option of adding an additional Sleep 8 for “free” but they charge another $6.99 handling. That would make the total $23.98 for 2 Sleep 8s. They state your product will ship within 30 days of order. Once you get your Sleep 8, you can try it for 30 days. If you are not getting the 8 hours of continuous rest they promise, send back on your own dime and they will refund you initial $10 but not the S & H.
Bottom Line: Is Sleep 8 a Scam?
Sleep 8 is priced within range of most sleeping masks, and seems to be a design similar to one of the most popular on the market. We don’t like the extra $6.99 shipping for the “free” Sleep 8, but if the product does work for you it still is a reasonably good deal.

Paid but no product to review
I am a full time nurse and a part time day sleeper. This was never a problem for me as I have always been a night person. Until I had kids that is. They are day people which is normal and even though I have a babysitter during the day I don't get to sleep well. I can never block the light out fully in my room and I can always hear them playing, fighting or just running around. Plus the living room, the TV and toys are just on the other side of the wall behind my headboard.
I would get hot with a regular sleep mask and the pillow over my head that it was taking to get to sleep so I thought that the sleep 8 mask would be a good buy. Earplugs aren't an option as I need to be able to hear my alarm and major nose that could suggest a problem with the kids. I felt the price was reasonable especially since they had the Bogo offer and I would likely lose a mask after one of the kids takes off with it to play dress up or superhero. So I gave it a whirl.
Now, two months later I have yet to receive a confirmation of shipping or a product. I have scoured the internet trying to find some kind of company info but the only thing I have found is the old website URL that now says the deal is no longer available. There is no company name on my email invoice, much less any contact information. I'm not really sweating the money so much as the fact that they have my credit card info and have obviously closed up shop. Plus I was actually intrigued to try this mask out.
I didn't expect no noise or light whatsoever, but maybe just as much as the pillow blocks with less heat. If anyone has info on this company and how to get a hold of them please post here. Thanks. Bummed RN in southern California.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
