About StyleWe

StyleWe offers consumers the chance to shop fashionable clothing designs made by independent fashion designers and small boutiques in one convenient online store—but with a twist.

Unlike other online shopping platforms that boast a variety of unique selections, such as Etsy, StyleWe allows designers to focus on the designing, while StyleWe handles production and customer service.

StyleWe claims that, through this unique structure, consumers are able to curate their own, unique style and build relationships with designers for diverse and personal fashion choices. For designers, they claim that this model allows those who create to enjoy recognition and direct customer feedback, instead of the anonymity that comes from designing for a larger label.

While StyleWe’s benefits sound appealing in theory, anyone who’s purchased a knockoff garment or accessory knows that how an item looks at first glance isn’t everything.

Will StyleWe be able to maintain the quality and fit consumers expect when buying independently designed items? Before we answer that question, let’s learn more about what they claim to offer.

Our First Impressions When Shopping StyleWe

StyleWe offers every category of women’s apparel that you would expect from a large online store, including dresses, tops, outerwear, skirts, pants, jumpsuits, and swimwear. They also have a handbag section. However, there are no accessories or jewelry options available.

You can browse StyleWe’s selections without signing up for the website. But to make a purchase, registration is required. On the up side, registering gives you a coupon good for ten percent off of your first StyleWe purchase.

What did we notice while looking around?

The selections available in StyleWe’s various categories don’t prescribe to any particular style. In dresses, shoppers will find midriff-baring skirt and top combos and bandage dresses next to evening gowns—and in no particular order.

When compared to department store websites or even larger boutique stores that allow for better filtering of sub-categories​, the enormous number of items available can be overwhelming. Further, the inconsistencies in image backgrounds and the dated look and experience offered by the website falls short of building confidence.

What is included is detailed product information, including materials, fit measurements, and laundering instructions. This is often left out by smaller boutiques whose focus on style can leave gaps in the purchasing experience. Although, it’s worth noting that the majority of items we viewed were polyester.

StyleWe Pricing & Refund Policy

Although registration is required, becoming a StyleWe member is free. Items range from flash sale selections starting around $40, to professional and formal wear that is over $150.

Standard shipping costs are between $1.99–$6.99 and takes between five and seven days after processing (which is an additional three to five days). Free standard shipping is offered on all orders over $60.

Alternatively, shoppers can choose express shipping, which takes two to five days after processing, and costs between $9.99–29.99.

StyleWe does allow for items to be returned within 30 days of the date that it was received. To return an item, it must be unused, undamaged, and in its original package. Additionally, you are responsible for the cost of return shipping.

To make a return or exchange, you need to request to do so online by clicking a button on the right of your order confirmation. You’ll receive an authorization number and return address within 24 hours, at which point you can post your return.

StyleWe asks that you email them proof of your package being sent, such as a tracking number or picture of your package to complete the process.

What isn’t eligible for a return? Swimwear can only be returned or exchanged if the product is defective. Additionally, you must provide StyleWe with an image of the item to prove that there is a defect when requesting a return.

Finally, if you feel you’ve made a mistake in your order and cancel it within 24 hours of purchase, StyleWe will issue a full refund. For orders that have not yet shipped, but have been made in excess of 24 hours, StyleWe offers a partial refund after deducting a 15 percent cancelation fee.

StyleWe Reviews: What Do Customers Have to Say About StyleWe?

The most frequent comments from StyleWe customers is regarding something that isn’t immediately apparent when visiting their official website: StyleWe is located in China.

While many of the products we use on a daily basis are manufactured overseas, StyleWe’s international location is at odds with their message of quality and independent designers. Clothing made in China is also generally associated with questionable fit and materials.

What were some of the individual comments?

Looking at the reviews of StyleWe on Sitejabber, we’re left with a mixed bag of impressions that veer towards the not-so-great, including:

1. Incorrect sizing: One user said, “I wear a 10-12, so ordered XL, assuming cheap stuff runs small. The XL is supposed to fit 12-14. Both items are a 6-8 at best.”

StyleWe’s customer service representatives appear to respond to many of the complaints on Sitejabber. In this instance, service rep Lanny S. responded to the above complaint, stating:

“Our items usually run one size smaller, so it will be better to choose bigger size. Every time when you click the size "S, M, L" etc., it will show the corresponding detailed measurements for the specific size. Then you can check.

You can also refer to the item Product Details to see the exact measurements first and choose the corresponding size (S, M, L, etc). The size guide is just a reference for all the items, which is not as accurate as the info of product details.”

2. Poor quality: Rose C. stated that she was disappointed with her StyleWe order, and rated the cut and quality of the items she received as poor. Rose also complained that the items she ordered only looked 80 percent like the images that were advertised.

3. Difficulty returning items. Several reviews mentioned that they experienced delays or a lack of response when attempting to return their StyleWe purchases.

That being said, there are also multiple reviews that praise StyleWe’s customer service and state that the customers had an overall positive experience shopping the online store.

Since the reviews on Sitejabber are so hit-and-miss, we looked further and found one blogger’s detailed account of shopping StyleWe.

You can read the full article at Denver Sewing Circle, but here are a few highlights from Jilly’s experience:

  • She mentions that the website can be difficult to navigate, that all available colors aren’t always shown in images, and that shoppers should take extra care to look at the individual product sizing information instead of relying on the standard drop-down options.
  • Her shipping was delayed by several weeks. First, after being held in customs, then held stateside. Delivery took five weeks in total.
  • The writer was unable to find any information about the designers StyleWe claims have created the garments they offer and suspects that they might not be real.

The reviewer had purchased a $60 dress, one of StyleWe’s cheaper options, and stated in her review that it looks like “an average, mass-produced garment.”

The post wraps up by saying that, overall, it wasn’t a negative experience, but that she believes there should be more transparency regarding shipping times so that customers can have realistic expectations.

Is StyleWe a Scam?

Due to StyleWe’s ongoing attempts to respond to and mitigate complaints, along with the absence of any reviews complaining that they never received their purchase at all, we don’t believe that StyleWe is an outright scam.

That being said, we’re also not confident that the brand is everything that they claim. This is because, after reading the Denver Sewing Circle review, we also attempted to locate social media profiles and websites for the designers that StyleWe lists and came up empty handed. Additionally, despite their friendly tone and promises of exceptional customer service, the number of customer reviews complaining of the undisclosed potential for shipping delays and unresponsive customer service are too many to assume that it’s a fluke.

Overall, we’re left with the impression that StyleWe is a Chinese-based clothing manufacturer of the likes that might supply Forever21 or other budget-minded stores, but are attempting to cut out the middleman by offering selections directly to consumers. While this might work in theory, StyleWe doesn’t seem to have worked out many of the bugs with their shipping and processing.

Bottom line? If you find that you’ve fallen in love with one of StyleWe’s selection and are okay with the price, you might be pleased with the order—as long as you’re not in a rush. However, we’d advise against shopping StyleWe on the premise of supporting independent designers or saving cash on small-label purchases, as there are so many other options that don’t involve international shipping.

    Brutal return policy

    I loved the dress I ordered, but needed to return it for a smaller size. It will cost more than the dress is worth to return. I'll never order from this site again. What a shame that their return/exchange policy can't be more customer friendly regardless of where you're located!

    I tried to return my items that were of terrible quality only to discover that I must return to CHINA. The cost of the return may be more than the actual items that I purchased. They offered me 15% refund, and I get to keep the crappy clothes. I talked them into 30% and feel like I was "HAD." Nowhere on their website return policy that I could find states anything about China only "easy returns."

    I will never buy from this group again! I will denote my items to Goodwill.

    Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Don't buy!

    I bought 7 items through this site, and once I saw it was through China, I got very worried. I contacted the email address that was through PayPal. The email address is tksforpay@hotmail.com. They said the dresses would fit and so against my better judgment, I ordered 3 out of the 7 items.

    When the items arrived, I was not satisfied. In fact, they were terrible. So I contacted the company, and they said they would not refund me for the items I didn’t receive until they got their dresses back. I sent the dresses back USPS priority mail for $75. It was attempted to be delivered but not accepted on September 28th.

    I then reached out to them on the email address they were communicating with me on which was different from the PayPal email. This email was service@classyin.com. First, they asked me to call their post office in China. I told them that's ridiculous, pick up your package! They said they would call the post office and get the package.

    It has now been 13 days, and I tried emailing them on the service@classyin.com, and it won’t go through. They have now closed down that email address. They are working under many names and email addresses. I have a case into PayPal and am confident I will get my money back, but it has been so frustrating!

    This is a scam company. There are all kinds of bad reviews about them. I just want my money back. I have also filed a dispute with Discover card so I will get my money back one way or another. Please file a dispute with PayPal because the more they get they said they will kick this company off. What a scam!

    Dishonest company

    I ordered from StyleWe. There was no mention anywhere on the website that the company was located in China. I would NEVER have ordered the dress if I had known this.

    The dress was badly cut, the shoulders were too big, and the armholes too small. The material was poor quality.

    I decided to return it. It took a long time for the company to respond. The company requested tracking, but sending the dress with tracking would have cost me half the cost of the dress (about $40). By the way, there was no tracking when THEY sent me the dress. I printed the address they sent me and shipped the dress through the post office.

    Now StyleWe says they never received the dress and REFUSE to refund me! So now I paid $84 for the dress, $27 to return it, and I have nothing.

    DO NOT buy from this company!

    Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Beware of return policy

    I ordered two items from StyleWe, according to their detailed sizing info, and neither one fits properly, after taking almost one month to arrive.

    I attempted to return the items within the 30-day return period and received an initial email informing me that the return center was in China, I was responsible for all international shipping and customs fees, and that the return process could be lengthy. They offered to refund me 15% of the total purchase in cash or 20% of the total purchase for in-store credit if I kept the items (suggesting that this stipend could be used to alter the garments).

    I spoke with friends who turned me on to StyleWe and found out that they returned items to a CA address. I sent StyleWe another email requesting a return label to California and was told that only "members" could ship returns to a US address. Since I wasn't a "member," my return had to go to China. After threatening to dispute the entire charge, they did make an "exception" and sent me a California return label.

    Outright fraud! No mention anywhere on the website or in the return policy that the company is in China. No mention anywhere that returns must be sent back to China. No mention anywhere that you have to be a "member" to be able to return items to the US return center. No mention anywhere of how you attain "member" status. No mention anywhere of international shipping and customs fees on returns, simply that "you are responsible for return shipping cost."

    Intentionally omitting the above information is nothing short of deception and fraud. I would have rated a "0" but that option was not available.

    Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Poor quality

    Looks nothing like the picture. Fit and proportions are all wrong. Says easy returns, but that is a lie. Returns are all but easy. Very poor quality. Received run-around for a return. Highly overpriced.

    Think before you buy

    The company is shipping like they are in the US, but if you want to return you will have to ship to China at your own expense. The cheapest way to ship it is around $23. Think before you buy. If you suspect that you might want to return it, see if it is worth it.

    Poor quality, overpriced

    Very poor quality dress; bad material and poorly made (uneven cut, threads sticking out everywhere, belt doesn't tie because it's very short). Overpriced! Looks very cheap and nothing like on the beautiful photos that they advertise. Very disappointed! Will never buy again.

    This is the email I got from Stylewe when I request a return:

    Dear .....

    Sorry that you are not satisfied with the item(s).

    Kindly reminder: our return center is located in China. I'd love to remind you that it may take around $60-$100 for international return shipping.

    Please note that customer is responsible for return shipping cost and any additional charges, such as international duties required by law in order for the return to clear customs. Besides, it will take quite a while for international shipping. Only after we receive your return package INTACT successfully within 30-day return window, can we refund you. If the parcel is lost on the way to us, our Customer Service Team will NOT offer any compensation option.

    Since returning to China may cost more than what you originally paid for the item(s), we strongly advise you keep the item(s) or gift your friends or someone in need.

    Thanks for your patience! Please don't hesitate to email us if you have any questions

      OMG! Where do I begin? This company is by far the worst company I've encountered and I shop online more than just a little bit. I shop online so much that I have an account just for online shopping to assist with possible hacking. I ordered a dress from StyleWe for an upcoming event out of town on 9/12/2017.

      I paid $12 for "express" shipping, which I now know that there is no such thing with this company since there is processing time prior to shipping. The FedEx tracking number indicates that a label was created on 9/15/2017 and that the item would be received in 9/19/2017. It also said that they are still waiting on the item.

      I emailed StyleWe who assured me that I would receive my package on 9/15. Well, 9/15 came and I went by, FedEx still showed that the item had not been received for them to ship. StyleWe told me to "calm down." Really? On 9/20, I called FedEx and they told me that the item still had not been received. The designer was adamant that it was shipped, but the shipping carrier doesn't have it.

      I have new shoes just for THAT dress, so now I must purchase another dress. Plus I've purchased several other items for my trip. It's not good when you can't just simply call customer service. I can only hope that the tracking number is incorrect, however, that doesn't seem probable. NEVER again! Heads up, stay away or be very sorry!

      This is the biggest scam company around. I ordered seven things from them. I realized it was from China and the website goes through PayPal. Once I saw it was from China I got worried.     Poor quality and poor service with return

    I ordered four dresses and was immediately disappointed in fabric quality and fit. One dress did not have tags attached to it. I immediately contacted them as I knew could be a problem for the return and then immediately sent the items back to them the next day. They have refused to issue me a return for the dress they sent me without tags. I would not order from here or recommend to a friend. Much better quality is available locally and can be found on sale.

      I ordered a dress that cost $75.00, and I was very disappointed in the quality of the item. It did not look like the photo online. Then, when I asked to return it, they said that I would need to return it to China, so why not accept 15% of the cost in cash and have the dress altered. Really?

      I sent it back and stopped payment on the credit card. It was $24.00 to send it to China, and they tell you to only use the USPS, then ask you for a tracking number, when they know that the USPS cannot track items going to China. Do not buy from them!

      I am trying to return two dresses because of incorrect sizing. They promised to send me the return instructions within 24 hours. They've only sent me two more offers to take less than what I paid for or store credit. They will not issue me a return label. Do NOT buy from this company.

    Poor quality and bad sizing

    The quality of the clothing is terrible, both in construction and materials. The sizing is completely off. I purchased three dresses:

    1. All had armholes that could only fit a very skinny, perhaps even mal-nourished woman.

    2. Three buttons popped out of one of the dresses when I slipped it on.

    3. The sizing throughout was inconsistent, the top of a dress clearly being a smaller size than the bottom.

    4. The dresses looked like a poorly executed imitation of the pictures advertised.

    My lesson (which I am re-learning): don't buy cheap because it usually means it's either poor quality or exploitation.
